The Old Republic

I haven't played an MMO in 6 years. WoW cost me getting into medicine at uni.

Now I'm permanently employed though, and this looks good so eh ... what's the worst that could happen?

Its getting close its getting close its getting close

its nearly here

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They seem to putting a lot of emphasis on voice acting and storyline, which is unusual for an MMO. I've played a few and the story was not something I was ever too fussed about (interesting fight mechanics and PVP were always the things that hooked me).

I'm in too. So just wait for another email with a downloadable link? No need to do anything to confirm you want to test?

I presume so. I'd say they'll be emailing people gradually, they'll hardly let everyone download it at once, seeing as it'll probably be around 10 - 15 gigs or something.

Why did you guys get picked? Did you have to apply or something?

I applied around 2 or 3 months ago. I think they stopped accepting applications a while after that.

I'm in too, hope it will run on my pc, I only have onboard graphics

Erm, I'd say it'll "run" like absolute shit, to be honest. This game looks huge and with loads of other people running around I doubt you'll be able to play it properly.

My testing starts tomorrow apparently but it won't actually let me log in and patch up the feckin game which is annoying seeing as it's 20 fecking gigs!

I've already got my client downloaded and patched up, the feckers won't let me on till Saturday though

Started playing at 5 and only just alt tabbed out there. This game is fecking amazing. Shits all over Oblivion.

So my client is downloading on the laptop, doing the patch now, game test starts tomorrow at 10am.

Only it's downloading at 140kbps. 20mb connection only gives me 1.5mb down the line, and of that I'm downloading at 140kbps.

It's gonna take probably about 2 days at this speed. :(

The shitter is, I have BT Infinity 36mb fibre optic being installed.............. on Monday. When my test is over.

:(

I'm in tomorrow at 5pm. Quite excited. I deliberately didn't follow the news on this game so I could enjoy it totally objectively if I ever got onto the beta. That time arrives tomorrow!

EDIT: It's gone midnight. "Tomorrow" is "Today" (Saturday) and I'm off to bed!

Ok so after my 6 hour marathon last night I finished up in the academy and am now out in the real world, but I went to bed before I started all that stuff.

Picked a sith inquisitor, the academy is basically a new KOTOR with a few quests that you need groups for, it's just that damn fun, the game and combat already feel so polished and I can tell already there's just so much more to come from it, there are absolutely loads of force powers and attacks available already and I'm only level 10.

The game is amazing so far, way better than I ever thought WoW was, and that's exactly why I'm not going to buy it, because I don't want to ruin my life!

EDIT: Zarlak, not to dampen your hopes, but there are also pretty long waits to get onto the servers, they're mostly full and have queues. I went on the only PvP English one (of course) and only had to wait 15 mins, but if you're a pussy who wants PvE you could be waiting well over an hour. That was also yesterday with less testers involved!

I've been in the proper beta for awhile. Haven't played much this build, but build before last was 3 weeks and I leveled three different characters to 50.

I fear for my social life, what ever is left of it, come Dec 15.

Is it not the 20th it's out?

How many hours does it take to get a character to 50? I'm on 13 now and I've gotten there almost entirely by questing. Is that the case the whole way through?

I think it's weekend only, or I hope it is anyway, else I'm fecked.

Anyway, almost back in, the 5 hour queue seemed to have been quite an exaggeration.

To an extent, though I'm the Siths "healer" class and I can still do lots of damage by myself at level 15, there seems to be a lot of versatility in the classes. You can basically learn any of the abilities, attacking or healing or whatever, but then you use the points tree to making certain abilities stronger.

I like the system so far, but I presume later on it'll get more specific and be very healer, tank, damage based.

im probably the most jealous person in the world right now :(

has anybody played star wars galaxies ? how does it compare to pre cu (or swgemu).

also, is there an option to turn off the circles around the characters during combat ??

anybody know where i can pre order collectors edition, and how much ?
