And last but not least and my favourite, an appearance tab! So you can choose your appearance based on what you want to look like, separate to the gear you have on. So you can be wearing battlemaster gear but appear however you want.

Interesting. I'd practically given up on this. The server my 50 Sage was on basically just died on the Republic side, so I made a BH on another server, got it to 40 by powerlevelling, haven't played in a week now, and don't really have any urge to do so whilst I have ME3 to play through.

Bit disappointed in the end.

Star Wars: The Old Republic may adopt a free-to-play model, according to lead technical designer Emmanuel Lusinchi.

In an interview with gamestm, Lusinchi admits that Bioware acknowledges the need to adapt in the increasingly overpopulated MMO genre.

He said, "The MMO market is very dynamic and we need to be dynamic as well. Unless people are happy with what they have, they are constantly demanding updates, new modes and situations.

"So we are looking at free-to-play but I can’t tell you in much detail. We have to be flexible and adapt to what is going on."

The Old Republic has had a tough time of late, with reports of falling subscriber numbers and staff layoffs resulting in many speculating about the game's future. But when IGN interviewed Emmanuel, he revealed that Bioware is still committed to making the game the best it can be, and this seems to be another step in realising this.

He goes on to explain that all MMOs are feeling the pressure in an increasingly clustered marketplace, with even the genre-dominant World of Warcraft experiencing a shrinking playerbase. Emmanuel suggests this means that now more than ever MMOs need to be flexible with their content plans and willing to adapt quickly.

"I think it’s more than the free-to-play model – it’s more that there is a lot of competitive offers,” Lusinchi claims. “If it was just free-to-play games and they weren’t very good it wouldn’t even be a question but there are definitely good games out there and good games coming out, so of course all of this competition impacts your plan with what you want to do.”

The Old Republic's content patch 1.3 is due soon, and more was revealed at E3 about what we can expect in the coming months.

I considered resubbing to this over the summer months since I've got the time free off uni and have got bored of WoW's Cataclysm stagnation, but apparently the servers are so damn empty that it's just not worth it.

Actually they just started server transfers to the ones that were still populated (around 4 or 5) and they're all packed now, plus there's finally a lot of good endgame content.

EA are crazy, the game is not going that well and there are still a number of countries when you can't play it. I have waited for this for many years and still can't play it. What is funny, the free weekend trial was playable here. I hope that in July I can play until level 15 and then maybe I can continue playing.

I have been playing for 2 months now and enjoying the game so far. Just moved servers this week from my dead one which saw 90 at times on empire side on the whole server to The Red Eclipse i think where it is 90 on the lower planets and 300 plus on the fleet. Going to make running group content a lot easier.

Looking forward to 1.3 hitting as by time that does will have dragged all my characters to lv50 and be ready for it.

Can someone tell me with certainty that THE STORY has a significant part in the game?

Also I heard that in game there will be an emotional meeting with my hero:

Yes, there are 8 separate, very large, fully voice acted storylines unique to each different class. Some are good, some great, some shit.

In between that there are group 'flashpoints' you can do including ones where you meet the above.

In case people are interested, the game will soon be adapting a free to play model.

Basically, level 1 to 50 is going to be free now to the general public, which means you can enjoy KOTOR like stories without a monthly subscription. End content will still (stupidly) require a fully subscription.

I think it's going to feck everything up for them, this game was already a bit of a flop and this might ruin it completely.

I'm happy enough with that news. I very much enjoyed the game but I just don't agree with monthly fees. As I have the game itself already purchased I can just jump back on the bandwagon.

It's strange that it flopped, because I thought the game itself was great. I was very addicted for a while.

Not really.

The game had a very quick levelling system, standard players could get to 50 within a month, and by then there was very little end content available, only a single (pretty easy) operation and 3 warzones, so these players started leaving.

Then there was the servers, they made far, far too many. It's as if they were predicting they'd have 5 million subscribers within a month, and with the inevitable departure of players, a lot of the servers went dead, therefore a lot more people left.

They were also horribly unresponsive to fans on the forums, like, ridiculously so. Never providing explanations for issues, or updates on them. Refusing to admit mistakes and constantly making excuses for such.

Saying that, I've remained subscribed throughout, and was happy to continue to do so, I'm not a hardcore gamer and I think it's worth it for 10-12 hours a week. But this ridiculous new system they're putting in place basically means that someone like me, who has paid them €15 a month throughout, will have to continue to pay that exact fee for the content I already had, whilst new players can play around 70% of this content for free. Not to mention this new token/vendor shit they're bringing in which basically means that on top of my subscription, if I want these new items or whatever these vendors will have, I'll have to pay the one off fees that f2p players do too.

It's a joke.

I'm not surprised. Anything that requires additional content and is made by EA is shit. I'm a sucker for Fifa but other than that I've stopped doing business with them.

The stupidity of Bioware seems to be beyond the measure now. I am from Kosovo and for some time I was interested in playing the game but I cannot do here cause it hasn't been launched yet. The ironic part is that I can play the game for free (about a month ago it has been launched free to play 'till level 15). Now I hope that I can play until level 50 in this new free launch and maybe to continue it playing with paying. But still it's a joke that I can play for free but not if I want to pay.

From P2P to F2P in the space of half a year...ouch!

EA need to be kept away from MMOs, forever. Whereas BioWare should stick to the single player RPGs and try not to screw them up as much as they have been recently.
