The New Kits Thread

I don't think they are 'wank' when viewed individually but when paired side by side they seem too similar with the three stripe shoulder logo.

For all the abuse Nike gets for out kits at least I feel like no one else we line up against will have the same kit design with just different colors and crest.

If you spread shit on yourself and walked the streets, at least you'd be content in the knowledge that you're the only one with shit all over you.

That's nice but the cuffs round the sleeves should be black also, imo.

You sir are blind.

Are we seeing the same shirt Irwin? It's really not as bad as you're making out.

The bigger collar helps no end. Cantona could wear this one.

It will look good with black short and socks, less so with white ones. As odd as is it to say it, the big white AON logo in the middle actually helps.

Still not all that good, though. Just 'acceptable'. The one Nike have come up with for Barca next season is a beauty.

It's wank looking. The shirt itself is OK, but the collar is shite looking with the wrong colour, the three buttons and it's too tight around the neck. The Aon logo is far too big too.

Now those saying Adidas are wank, tell me, are these wank?

With Adidas it's all classic good looking shirts with a simple but class looking pattern replicated but with subtle changes in styling and excellent use of colours.

They all look exactly the same, Irwin.

Arsenal have agreed the biggest kit deal in English football with sports giants Puma.

They have struck an agreement worth in excess of £30m-a-year which could see the five year contract worth £170m in total.

The deal worth more than Liverpool’s new £25m-a-year contract with Warrior and brings to an end Arsenal’s 20-year tie-up with Nike.

The deal, which will not be announced officially for some time, will give Arsenal major additional financial clout on top of the £150m five year shirt sponsorship deal with Emirates.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has already been promised £70m to spend on transfer targets this summer as the club looks to rebuild and strengthen the squad.

Fiorentina’s striker Stevan Jovetic tops the list of targets but his price could go above £20m and that would be new territory for Arsenal.

However, the new kit deal will give them confidence that they can spend big.

It will also be a major coup for Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis on top of the Emirates deal and will strengthen his belief that the club are making major strides forward off the pitch which will enable them to compete for the biggest signings.

The new agreement dwarfs the current kit deal with Nike, which is worth £55m over seven years and expires at the end of NEXT season.

American sportswear giant will now concentrate on Manchester United, Barcelona and the England team. They are also due to renegotiate with United shortly as their current 15 year deal worth £287m is due to expire soon.

Nike had an exclusive renegotiation clause with Arsenal which has now expired and they have clearly decided not to renew. Nike declined to comment last night. Arsenal are also bound by a confidentiality agreement.

A source close to Nike said: “Nike were keen to work with Arsenal, keen to keep it going, but not at any price.”

Adidas were in pole position for the Arsenal deal and had even put forward designs but they announced last month that they would not be bidding. Liverpool’s kit makers Warrior were also keen.

But Puma are understood to have blown the opposition away in negotiations with Arsenal who were driving a hard bargain.

Puma were Tottenham’s kit makers before Under Armour and are clearly hoping that a tie-up with Arsenal will put them back as major players in the football market.

Furthermore, Puma have strong links with the African market and that is an area where they believe Arsenal are particularly strong and have even bigger potential.

Hello kitty! Arsenal agree £170m kit deal with Puma.. the biggest in English football

Not sure of the reliability...

The papers are right usually about this sort of thing.

Wow that deal is huge for Arsenal, if true.

Surely that will give us more leverage in our negotiations (if its true).

The new Adidas Lyon kits are class. The third one is fantastic.

I don't think your lot need any more leverage in your deal. Most of the manufacturers would bend over backwards for your lot so you'll get a mega deal no matter what anyone else gets. Especially with your commercial team churning out deals left, right and centre!

If this deal is true would be a brilliant deal for us, along with the Emirates deal would bring in around £50mill extra per year.

Good deal for arsenal is true. Will be interesting to see what ours new on will be when it comes. I can see the money men at United already factoring this deal into their negotiations

Here's one for the anoraks.

Only Fulham and Aberdeen have had adidas, Nike, umbro and puma before.

I'd be well happy the black collared shirt (the one with the bigger collar). Will look smart with black shorts and socks.

Oh clam down dear. It really isn't that bad. Did I mention that the collar is fantastic?

The collar is the thing that totally rulens the jersey for me.

I was so happy to see that gingham was out of the question for next year, but now there's that crap.

I mean, I'm aware a lot of people on here prefer collars but I despise them, I don't have a single shirt with a collar, never wore one if possible and it looks like I won't be buying our kit for the 2nd year running, seriously is it that hard to make a good looking kit Nike? You're a fecking giant of a company for christ's sake, put some effort into it.

The Bayern one is OK...why the hell would you get Ribery to model it though.

Here's one for the anoraks.

For even bigger anoraks, United have also - we wore Puma kits for one game: Martin Buchan's testimonial. This was because he fell out with Adidas and Sharp because they wouldn't sponsor the game.

Do pictures exist of this game? It would be pretty cool to see them.

God, you guys are fussy cnuts. It looks classy, every year it's the same nonsense, only come May, with people saying they've grown on it.

This one is more entertaining than the RAWK thread at times. It's about as pathetic and depressing as the wrestling thread though so I don't read it as often.

It it as bad as that werewolf shite that's going on in the general?

nope...it's may and I still don't like the current kit, much much preffered the one before the current one.

And even though this year's was bad, I could atleast "somewhat" get used to them, I detest collars too much to end up "liking" the supposed new one though, regardless of whether we win nothing or the treble.
But that's just me, no jersey's gonna look good to everybody, however many people will probably agree with me when I say that Nike are just throwing out crap for United lately, they should either hire someone who knows what they're doing or United should go for a different shirt sponsor.

Nike aren't exactly glorious, but I hate the way Adidas forces those stripes on you. It suits some clubs like Chelsea or Bayern but our kit should predominately be a plain red.
