We get off to a bad start on wednesday OT will get toxic very quickly. I'd say highly likely we get off to a bad start, but Arsenal start matches dreadfully, possibly even worse than us, so maybe literally nothing will happen in the first half.

74% is the highest I think we have reached. Failure to beat Arsenal on Wed and I expect that to get close to 80%

If opposition supporters weren’t allowed to vote I’d say it would be over 90%

This is a very poorly designed poll anyway, with all due respect to whoever set it up. First, two of the options are definitive in their timeline (i.e. is it currently the time to sack Mourinho. With a Yes/No answer, you are deciding on what immediate action needs to be taken). The third option is a weird open ended timeline. The distinction between options 2 and 3 are not clear when combined with the question itself.

Second, and most importantly, polls should never stay open for this long. Without seeing the data, there is probably a huge variation in when the answers were submitted and under what circumstances. No 'real' polls are ever done like this because a poll is supposed to capture the sentiment under a specific set of circumstances and during a small snapshot of time.

I wish the mods would create a new poll and leave it open for no longer than a week. It should have different options too.

If you were the United CEO, what would you do with Mourinho?
  1. Sack him now
  2. Sack him as soon as he misses out on qualification to CL
  3. Keep him till the summer and reassess then based on more factors than CL qualification.
  4. Back him and let him see out his contract.
All are options with clear timelines/milestones. It is also more interesting because it shows if many people agree with waiting till the summer or till we are out of the CL and top 4 is gone.

I agree the poll needs changing but I don’t think we really need option 4 do we?:wenger:

The same folks who want Jose to see out his contract are probably the same folks who wanted Moyes to see out his contract... oppo fans and trolls.

we will probably draw against Arsenal after conceding first and Jose would say they are above us in the table and it was a good point as we did not have any virus or mad dogs today. I am fed up with him. At this moment in time I would even prefer "Arry Redknapp or even fat Sam or even the fat Spanish waiter.

Die hard apologists are now concentrating fire on Pogba in that other thread. Lovely diversion tactics from Mourinho yet again.

Sam isn’t fat, he’s big.

Only the data can tell us. We can't assume these people don't exist and it is technically a valid course of action, no matter how crazy.

Oppo fans can be cleaned out of the dataset quite easily.

Selfishly hope he lasts beyond the Fulham game on Saturday. I was supposed to go over to that but had to get rid of my tickets as I couldn’t afford it. Would be sickened if I missed it and it was the first post-Mourinho game. In all likelihood he will last til Christmas at least in any event.

If we lose at home to Arsenal tomorrow night, I think he'll be sacked the following day.

Which begs the question, would you willfully hope for a loss in the event of the above becoming a reality?

I struggle to see how some fans think a new manager can do anything different with our players. For 5 seasons and more we've all been saying we have players in our squad who aren't good enough for Utd, players signed under previous managers. Some of those players are still here (Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Young, Fellaini, Valencia, Darmian).

We have players who have played inconsistently for several seasons despite changes in manager (Mata, Lingard, Herrera). And we have players not playing to their potential now (Pogba, Lukaku, Rashford, Martial).

So of a first team squad of 26, we have 7 players we all think shouldn't get anywhere near a Utd shirt to begin with (and personally I could add others to the list - McTominay for example), 3 players who have only ever played inconsistently for Utd, and 4 players out of form. So more than half the available squad aren't performing or were never capable of performing to Utd standards. That won't change because a new manager comes in because we're on our third manager to date and still suffering.

We need a clear out of players, which Jose started, but we need it much faster, and we need to invest in better quality players. And investment does mean proven quality players. Look at our RB situation, we have a past it Valencia backed up by an inexperienced Dalot. That is a daft position to be in.

Its true, the side needs major work but we really should be beating Crystal Palace at home and Southampton away. There is just no excuse for it. This team will not win any titles or the champions league but the style of play shouldnt be so weak and boring.
The players look like they arent coached, if Jose goes I cannot see them doing any worse.

,this is why we gave Jose $400m to buy 10 players, yet these old shit players are benching most of them

You mentioned all the shite players .we don't need to use them. Who's forcing us to? Infact Jose was desperate to keep some of them. He said Young will 50 games and begged Fellaini to sign the new contract no? Oh and Darmian the emergency man
Already I can replace them with Bailly, Lindelof, Dalot, Fred etc from within the squad .

The problems are much worse than who's manager, the players are bloody useless, don't see that changing regardless of who is in charge.

I don't think there's a chance that he will get sacked if we lose to Arsenal. I just don't think Woodie has the balls to do that. He'll be here until a top 4 finish is mathematically impossible. I could be proven wrong.

He won't be fired for a while, even if we start losing a bunch of games in a row. I mean, maybe if we lose tomorrow 5-0 and then lose to Fulham the board will just have to give in and get rid of him.

But I see him sticking around for the rest of the year. And honestly, if we're not going to get top four it's probably better if we fall out of Europa to not waste time/energy on that tournament with our new manager (hopefully making a solid go at the top four). This of course assumes that new tournament announced doesn't start next year. What a disaster that'd be, falling into a third tier European tournament only to play on Thursdays in Bulgaria and Kosovo.

I've accepted he'll be here with his shite football and shite musings in the pressers for months.

Hell I’d take Coco the Clown right now - at least we’d be entertained instead of being bored to death! :annoyed:

The first thing we need to do even before selling anyone is to have a large influx of our youth team in to the first team.

Players like pereira, gomes, chong, gribbin, Greenwood, Tuenzebe, TFM need to take the roles of the likes of Darmian, Fellaini, Matic, Valencia, Young etc etc - we need to use the youger players to shift and build numbers in our squad.

Then after that we can look at the players we have left, the players who are always on form (de gea) out of form (martial, Pogba, Rashford, Sanchez, Maybe Lukaku) and figure out a formation that gets the best out of our Team A listed there and the Team B that is made up of our reserve squad players.

Blend them together & then buy players that fit gaps in to the formation that gets the best out of everyone. What we have right now is a manger who wont touch youth, disregards technical ability, has little interest in finding a formation that gets the best out of many but uses a formation that has proven to work for him previously whilst targeting players again who are expereineced but are more suited to his formation than a formation that gets the best of he players at hand.

Reason I want to see Butt or Carrick in charge, and to a various other levels managers like Pochettino and Howe is that I assume that would come in and do what I said is step 1 : to use youth to build a squad rather than letting rubbish players rot on the bench.

This I very much agree with.

I think the part missed by those who claim not much will change in terms of results regardless of who is in charge is that the animosity towards Mourinho from a large section of the fanbase goes way beyond the mediocre results and atrocious football. His demeanor and the toxicity he brings dividing the club at every level and creating this horribly negative atmosphere is a major part of wanting him gone. Mourinho only makes sense if he achieves significantly better than someone else. If another manager comes in and does pretty much the same results wise, which at this point is a very low bar to reach, they'd still be better just by virtue of not having his toxic self around the club.

I don't really get why he's still here right now. It's obvious that it is never gonna work out. Why not get someone in who is gonna have time to asses the squad before next season? If the next manager tries going in to next season with the same squad, it could be a disaster.

Boycott all expenditure at the ground in protest at Jose and he would be gone in 2 Home matches.

No programme sales, no food and beverage sales and the resulting wastage costs would get the message straight through to the Glazers.

Remember they have become dependent on regular expected income....2 weeks of massively reduced revenue and spiralling costs will have the desired effect.

They've invested feck all money, it's our money.

They're the number one reason we're the shambles we now are.
Worded it wrong. Either way they OWN the club. That money has still gone to transfer budget to buy players. Fact is prawn sandwich eaters only complain when we're losing. When we are winning they stay quiet. Its too late now and we have to make do with what we have and they have invested money.

He won 3 trophies in first year.
He led us to our best league campaign since Ferguson left in his second year.
He has qualified us for back to back UCL knockout that hasn't happened since 12/13 13/14.

Put some respect on his name, one shaky start to the season doesn't warrant a sacking.
This squad isn't good enough to challenge for the title, It's arguably not good enough to get top 4 either.
Could Jose have done better this season so far? Yes but he's hardly the reason why we're playing so bad.

Apart from counting the community shield as a trophy I don’t see a lot wrong here. Prepare for a shitstorm anyway though.

I really hope you were holding 3 fingers when you wrote that.

Hope he used the 'respect' hand gesture as well

Claiming that the same squad that finished 2nd last year with a few additions isn't good enough to finish top 4 is laughable

Unfortunately we have a manager who basically wrote off the season, conjured up a cloud of negativity and started getting the excuses in, before it even began. Essentially setting the stage for the shitshow we see now

City's squad is unarguably better than ours in just about every aspect.
Tottenham might lack depth but their starting XI is better than ours, we'd kill to have any of Alderweireld,Eriksen or Kane.
Arsenal has 2 strikers who would effortlessly walk into our team, their midfield is also better than ours, I'd take any of Ozil,Torreira or Ramsey over any midfielder we have aside of Pogba.
Not even gonna bother to go on about Liverpool.

The only top 6 team that has a worse squad than us is Chelsea in my opinion.

We vastly overperformed in the league last year, thanks to Jose and De Gea.
Now It's back to reality, the squad isn't good enough and Woodward should have backed Jose in the summer to make it possible to improve upon last year's campaign.

The cnut should be humiliated and thrown out, but that won't happen until we are mathematically eliminated from the champions league (hopefully there is a clause in the contract). My hatred for Mourinho is extreme, so would not be upset if we missed out on top 4 just so we can get rid of him.

Also I know it's a long shot, but just for hiring Mourinho and then handing him an extension, Woody should be fired, or at least removed from the footballing side totally. The club sold it's soul when hiring Mourinho, but they did not learn from Mourinho's time at other clubs when giving him that extension, he should have always been kept on a short leash.

I don't buy that the likes of Chelsea,Spurs and Arsenal have better squads than us at all. The only things they have which are superior to us are playing style and management, not personnel

The current gap in the table between us and them is embarrassing

 Oh dear, not often that you find all the excuses rolled into a single post.

The reason we're not in the top 6 is because every single one of those clubs has better managers than us.

Enough is enough.
I think he should go and follow SAF, wenger and LVG.
We should appointed younger and more motivated manager

The reason we're not in the top 6 is because every single one of those clubs has better managers than us.

I agree with that but I'd argue that it isn't because of the managers tactics or anything (abysmal though they might be) but because he's contributed heavily to the building of a poor squad.

The team we have now is every bit as poor as the manager in my opinion. There's dross everywhere.

The community shield is hardly a trophy. If anything it was LvG’s trophy more than his, I don’t remember anyone calling it a trophy when Moyes has won it.

He deserves very little respect for the way he’s been handling himself here, complete lack of respect and all around negativity.
I used to wonder how could Chelsea supporters give him stick whenever we played at the Bridge for the last 3 years, I now understand, the man is absolutely toxic.
He’s been an absolute failure here, 420m ffs.
