I think the part missed by those who claim not much will change in terms of results regardless of who is in charge is that the animosity towards Mourinho from a large section of the fanbase goes way beyond the mediocre results and atrocious football. His demeanor and the toxicity he brings dividing the club at every level and creating this horribly negative atmosphere is a major part of wanting him gone. Mourinho only makes sense if he achieves significantly better than someone else. If another manager comes in and does pretty much the same results wise, which at this point is a very low bar to reach, they'd still be better just by virtue of not having his toxic self around the club.
There was animosity toward Moyes and LVG as well, it's not like fans were upset they left is it. And claiming fans would be happy with the same results with a different manager is blatantly not true. Imagine if it was Allardyce getting these results, this place would be in absolute meltdown.
