He's got to go now.

Enough with Zidane though. You can't take away his three European Cups, but he's not the man to turn around a mess like United. I don't think he'd even want the job. This isn't a Pep Guardiola warm bath situation that the next guy is climbing into, this is a real challenge.

I read this and the first thing I thought was if this was happening under another manager...like it was with Moyes and LVG.....the manager I'd want to sort us out and stamp some normality would be Jose.........3 quite different managers have had a fair crack at it for me. Are we a great club....or was that just great managers its hard for me to decide.

74% is the highest I think we have reached. Failure to beat Arsenal on Wed and I expect that to get close to 80%

Yeah but this is what is absolutely nuts about this place. We are garbage right now. 74% of redcafe thinks that. All the comments are we are where we deserve to be, we are lucky to be 8th etc etc! Then we play Juve or Arsenal and some people think we "should" win!!!!!!!!!!Jesus some were moaning at 0-0 away to Juve, still moaning when we actually won about overall performance. This club has been pretty irrelevant since SAF left in terms of the top table. I think even another decade of this and some fans would still say we should be beating Chelsea at home. Completely at odds with all their own comments on here!

Get him out and get Woodward out. He is the festering disease that gave him the contract. The glazers are leeches but they have invested a lot of money. The point is it hasn't been invested corrently because that bigheaded prat thinks he knows 'football'. If we had a proper DOF in place from the start who didnt get exorted by every agent and signed players he knew were fit to wear the badge then we wouldnt be in this place. Jose is to blame as well but it would be significantly easier to get rid of him if we had a consistent plan going forward. Now what? We sign a new manager who wants to play football without a rugby player in strike? So we sell 75million Lukaku

They've invested feck all money, it's our money.

They're the number one reason we're the shambles we now are.

With the funds, players and fandom we have around the world we "should" be.

We have the base of having a very good team. We just need proper coaching, a positive mindframe and confidence. If we get the right man this won't take too long to change.

If we had Guardiola, Klopp, Poch etc etc we would be in a completely different situation. We've just been very unfortunate that the last 2 "world class" managers haven't lived up to their expectations. Just like any player who fails to do well, the manager should be cut.

The Caf is not a representation of the fanbase.

The fans will be firmly with the manager on Wednesday.

What makes you think you are a representation, Donald?

We don't believe we're garbage. We believe we are massively under performing with the squad we have . The way we surrendered at home to Juventus without having a go is what irked supporters not the result . We have no right to win every game but we have a right to see our team going for it every single game . Instead we have a completely outdated manager who uses 2005 tactics in 2018 and has continued to lower the expectations like "how can they demand anymore with the shit squad I have?".

If we get the right man in......if we get to 5 managers and still no change will anyone think differently on here....No. Jose has to go but Chelsea and City have won leagues with managers that would be spat out by this club. The rejoicing on here when we finally change manager will only deflect once again from the bigger issues preventing decent enough managers to consistently keep us 4th never mind challenging regardless of money thrown at it!

This is a very poorly designed poll anyway, with all due respect to whoever set it up. First, two of the options are definitive in their timeline (i.e. is it currently the time to sack Mourinho. With a Yes/No answer, you are deciding on what immediate action needs to be taken). The third option is a weird open ended timeline. The distinction between options 2 and 3 are not clear when combined with the question itself.

Second, and most importantly, polls should never stay open for this long. Without seeing the data, there is probably a huge variation in when the answers were submitted and under what circumstances. No 'real' polls are ever done like this because a poll is supposed to capture the sentiment under a specific set of circumstances and during a small snapshot of time.

I wish the mods would create a new poll and leave it open for no longer than a week. It should have different options too.

If you were the United CEO, what would you do with Mourinho?
  1. Sack him now
  2. Sack him as soon as he misses out on qualification to CL
  3. Keep him till the summer and reassess then based on more factors than CL qualification.
  4. Back him and let him see out his contract.
All are options with clear timelines/milestones. It is also more interesting because it shows if many people agree with waiting till the summer or till we are out of the CL and top 4 is gone.

I'd have agreed, but he's probably just a spent force these days. Sure, Pep had a club prepping for his arrival for 5-years and has spent nearly twice as much since officially arriving. I don't expect Mourinho to compete with City, but he should be ahead of the other 18 teams.

Exactly. Look at what Emery has done to Arsenal. I’m so sick of this spending smokescreen. Our players are better than the performances we’re giving. I really think Jose wants the sack. I supported him up to this point, but I’m really sick of him now. I wish he’d just shut up and focus all his energies on the team. Instead he’s point scoring in conferences and protecting his ego. I wish the press would call him out on it. They throw shit at him but they never defend it when it’s actually not shit.

Spot on. Not only that we should be able to beat easily the smaller clubs like Southampton but we cannot. We have a fight for survival in every match. That simply is not good enough for a club that has the financial resources of Manchester United.
I do not think Jose would be here next season. He is gone but it is going to be a huge drama like the LVG or the Moyes saga of the sacking.

This... What Emery is doing at Arsenal is completely blowing open Jose's excuses and exposing his failures.. Emery took over a complete mess of a gunners side, who had much worse squad than ours. He's spent less money in the summer than jose bringing in what he wants, set them up well and coached them right, and has them playing closer to the arsenal of old. Jose's excuses of why he's unable to do the same just don't wash anymore. Hes convinced a few, but the majority are seeing right through his shit now

@Damien @Raoul this sounds good tbf.

I would go even further and say we should've been competing for the PL by now. 3 years, 5 transfer windows and 400 million is enough to take a team who finished just outside top 4 only by GD to at least challenging for PL. As Liverpool are doing now even I believe they will fall short at the end

I honestly don't believe the board is keeping him, biding their time for when it's cheaper to sack him, that's just a very bad piece of business, considering the money we'd lose if we don't qualify for the CL next season.

I think they still believe he could change things around and reach top 4, or they're looking for an immediate replacement again going on the business criteria approach - the shiniest CV available. Also I do believe Zidane has turned us down.

Surely that belief will he dead if Arsenal embarrass us tomorrow night.

For those that are still defending Mou and saying he should have had more funds and more players and blah-de-blah, here's a bit of a refresher:
Jose Mourinho saying he believes he'll challenge for the title in 2017-18.

Here's a handy excerpt:
"In many ways, it is my team. In terms of the squad, this is my second transfer window. I was thinking, three transfer windows, I need that. But after two windows I have a good group and a football club much better equipped. We are much better organised in the areas that support the first-team squad. We are much better organised at every level. So we will go for it this season. We are going to try to win the title."

So last season, it was his squad and he felt it was fit for a title challenge. Add Sanchez, Dalot and Fred since then (while no challenger has made anything close to this kind of investment) and suddenly we're a squad that he feels doesn't even have the quality to be Top 4 without a miracle (his words, not mine).

I have absolutely no idea how anyone can absolve him of any blame whatsoever - and how anyone can blame Ed for not giving him the keys to the treasury.

He seems to have charmed some people into believing whatever he says. He'd probably be able to get half of these guys let him have a go on their wives.

Seeing the fraud continuously moan about his squad and lack of options makes me appreciate LvG a bit more in hindsight. He never bitched and complained during injury crises,he just did what a forward looking manager would do and bled some of the academy kids into the squad the way it should be instead of shoehorning players out of their natural positions to make a petty point to the board, sabotaging his team in the process

It's hardly a given that sacking Mourinho is going to do wonders for our season. If there's a lack of decent alternatives, praying for 4th could easily be the least of our worries

You nailed it! Just think what we could achieve with a progressive manager in the space of a few months? We could even make a late push for top 4 instead of prolonging the inevitable slow death we are suffering.

When he has his bulletproof fave in young, Valencia, smalling, Jones, matic fellaini, mctommey and lukaku

Those players are a mix of awful and slow on the ball, they don’t press, they give the ball away.

But we can buy quality players all we like but when they got a bulletproof spine around them of
Smalling
Matic fellaini
lukaku
With jones, Valencia and young part of his fave, this side will continue to be a banter club.

We need to take out the trash, and these core players are the heart of our cancer problems. They are the kitchens cookers run by a clown head chef who all are giving customers food poison, it’s like looking at hells kitchens nightmares where the kitcken refuses to take the blame, throw people who could improve the squad under the bus because they are a threat, while the owners don’t even look at this situation. But it’s a tight nit group Jose and his clown pose have that everyone else has to pander too and that’s the problem, they are the ones failing us

A business model where we can pay world record fees, offer biggest wages in the league and still allow the owners to take a big dividend is probably the best model we could hope for. I'm not sure the oil barons / sugar daddy ownership models are sustainable long term (Abramovich barred from entering the UK at the start of the season) and the fact we are generating record revenue despite fluctuating league performance means they are doing a lot right with the club financially. They need to install someone to oversee the on the pitch side of the business but if we got this right I don't see any concerns with them owning the club.

Honestly, top 4 has gone and they will know that. So as infuriating as it is seeing that clown in charge, at this point they may just feel that there's nothing to be gained by dropping him this very minute. Maybe they prefer to take their time to assess caretaker and long term options. One thing we know from both Moyes and LVG is they're happy to sit on a decision until they believe its the right time but then they move quickly once the moment comes.

Relax. Breath. Use a paragraph.

At this point I don't understand how he's still in the job. As in whats the point in all of this? Woodward can not continue in his role after this mess.

So you believe that if we had hired Pep instead of Mou and had given him 400 million quid in three seasons and the biggest wage bill in the league we'd be exactly where we are?

There's valid points for both sides of the argument. For me, if we fail to improve our form towards January then it's time to get rid of Mourinho

Yes, that's fair. There's no excuse for opening the door to Liverpool like we have.

Don't think they give a fek tbh, and the person that should give a fek, doesn't know much about football .

It's not a question of 'If' but 'when.

The sooner the better for me but the problem with Woody and Glazer needs to be addressed too
