Watching the Spurs game and they just showed more cohesion in the first 20 seconds than we did all game.

I dunno. The football was probably equally boring tbh. We've been barely watchable under both LVG and Jose. I do feel there is a bit of revisionism regarding how stultifyingly boring some of those LVG matches were.

I'm not revising anything. You feel differently and that's fine.

I enjoyed matches like Juanfield or the 4-2 against City much better than any win under Mourinho because of how we actually played the game.

He's having his third season meltdown in terms of results and our management appears not to notice.

The team isn’t good enough, that can be changed in January. It’s absolutely obvious. Do I want to sack Mourinho? Yes and no. What manager can come in and do better than him during the season? I see absolutely no candidates in the market. Sacking Mourinho would be incredibly expensive. So no, he’s too expensive to get rid of and there is a shortage of good managers. What sucks for us is that Real Madrid and FC Bayern need new managers as well.

Why could our players not play well under Van Gaal then? He was a techincal coach, he'd get teams to do passing drills all the time in training.

He has to go because he is blind. Even a blind man can see that Matic is not good enough. Lukaku is not good enough. Most of these players can play much better than this. Only a blind man would play Mata and Darmian on the same side to face Zaha and another quick full back.
Woodward should not give him even one pence and sack him NOW. Anyone but Mourinhio would be better now.

I want Jose out but it is strange to me. He was a winner, a fighter. These days he's just someone who is in football, who appears like he hates football.

It's all weird. The rumours are true: Real Madrid broke him.

Mourinho has basically fallen out of love with 'coaching'. He finds the daily grind of coaching painful and boring. Someone like Fergie as he aged, just delegated that so he could focus on the match day stuff which still excited him.

Mourinho has now reached a stage where even the managerial stuff within a game doesn't really excite him, he rarely gets off the bench and is just a bitter twisted version of what he once was. Madrid in combination with the rise of hipster managers which are 'uber-coaches' and 'philosophers' who are actually successful too... it is just going to take a huge huge effort on his behalf to break out of his current mindset and IMO it is beyond him. He doesn't have the personality to break this cycle, reflect and develop a new version of himself, and regain that hunger.

Mentally he's finished and right now, he just takes jobs to keep the earnings flowing without any burning passion for his job.

Why do you create stuff in your head? The club is rotten throughout it, certain elements of the squad, the manager, all the way up, everyone knows it, yet you dance around on here trying to act like everyone thinks Jose is the only problem. No one with any sense thinks that.

Don’t expect to get a reply. He doesn’t seem to acknowledge posts that concede that sacking the manager won’t necessarily fix everything that’s wrong with the club, even if it couldn’t possibly make things worse at this stage.

We seem short of bodies when attacking and defending. How is that even possible?

Disheartening stuff. Even more disheartening is the fact we are going to keep this pathetic man around til seasons end.

Started long before Jose buddy.

I got promoted to the mains just before Moyes was appointed, and I don't remember the fanbase ever being this toxic toward one another.

Also remember the admins were far less leniant than they are these days - I know this from experience!

What the feck is this nonsense? Maybe because it's a shallow argument? Unless it's just because Gary Neville told you so?

This attitude that we must stick with what we have because we can't do any better is nonsense.

@CA1 what about those players that have been bought by Mourinho? What's your stance on them?
Most of them are shit mate.

I don't think any top player has had a real passion to join us since Fergie left. And I don't blame them.

Mourinho has made some shit signings. Lindelof, Bailly stand out most to me. I don't know if there were better CB's out there who wanted to join us.

I changed my vote, from when this thread has first started. Today, against that team, just can not happen. It has to be done, no later than Christmas. That'll give United half a season to see what type of players they really have.

It's a culmination of 5 and a half years of not being anywhere near to where we want to be.

How can you openly admit all of Jose's signings are shit and then continue to defend him and imply he is blameless?

Martial Rashford Lingard did play well under him.

He didnt have Sanchez or Pogba though

Juanfield was awesome, as was smashimg Spurs the week before, but they were in that weird four game burst when we looked awesome, before reverting to zombie tactics.

The win over City last year was great, but we're clearly not moving forward any time soon, barring a miracle.

I feel like anyone saying this is doing so with a selective memory. I'd agree with you on 14-15 but we were genuinely dire throughout most of 15-16, barely outscoring some teams at the bottom end of the table.

Its a total shiteshow on all levels. No cohesion or understanding between the players in attacking moves. Passes underhit, crosses overhit, and then defenders left one on one with midfield caught up too far. Happened loads of time today

I don’t understand what you’re asking? Are you saying you disagree that sacking Mourinho will make us a better team?

I reckon that when faced with a crisis Mourinho's response is to be stubborn and stick with his tried and trusted. It happened with Ivanovic at Chelsea and it's happening again with Lukaku and Matic. We're not likely to see the likes of Fred, Pereira or Dalot much while the crisis continues I'm afraid.

Indeed, that brilliant spell in 14-15 was an anomaly when compared against the majority of LVG's reign.

Who's it going to be then?

Who's going to come in and coach these players into being a great team?
Mourinho has added 9 players. Let's not pretend any manager has to do it the same set of players. Mourinho didn't and the new manager wouldnt have to.

This is revionism.

Lingard played better under Mourinho. People forget the shit games all the players had under Van Gaal now it suits them. We were terrible, just like we are now.

Nah I remember our defeat by Midgetland just as well. With Donald Love making his debut and all that.

I'm not saying it was great under LVG. I'm saying when we had good days under LVG, they were better than the good days under Mourinho.

Honestly starting to think any more games and he's going to damage himself and the time more. We should part off before Christmas. He can talk about last 2 seasons and we start to work for the future. The season is going from bad to worse and it's not going to improve any time soon.

Leave on mutual consent and get Jardim.
He had Monaco in the relegation zone before he got sacked, think we need a manager who's currently doing a good job, not one who did a good job a few seasons ago.

Who's going to bring the players in?

Jardim is a coach, he's not got any experience of bringing players in.

Woodward proved in the summer he is in charge of that.

You're really out here calling out revisionism after your postings?

Because his tactical approach was outdated and he brought players who were either past their best or simply not good enough.

An almost identical situation to that which we face today under Jose. Lightning does strike twice, apparently.
