You think it's out of reach 6 games in to the season, when we're only 3 points of 4th?

No but it’s not exactly great considering it hasn’t been a very tough start to the season. We’ve looked inferior tactically in every game apart from Burnley and absolutely hopeless going forward. I don’t see how this will suddenly change.

If it’s gotten to a point where he can’t play Pogba either then we’re fecked. At least there is a spark when he’s on the pitch, even if inconsistent.

Correct. Worst comes to worst, you put someone like that on gardening leave for the rest of his contract.

I've been dead set against changing managers because I think the issues lie in how we are approaching our purchases, investment from the club and Woodward looking for marketing potential of players over their worth on the pitch.
I'm still uncomfortable of the notion of getting rid of Mourinho if it is seen as a message that player power has taken precedence over the club as I think the Manager's role is too important to mess up.

I also have very little confidence in Woodward to make the decision on who should succeed him. I don't want the club to gain a reputation of being "flaky" around managers either.

I'm torn because I wanted Jose to work for the club....but it seems like things are falling apart.

I'm down to my last thread of holding on and that is that I'm unsure who would be the best person to replace him and I don't think we should rush this decision.

The garden leave option would be the best way to resolve this down the road. Jose can sit on garden leave until some-one else hires him. Inter wanted him back, other teams will want him too, and he is too proud a man to just sit around doing nothing in order to screw us over for more money.

A "mutual consent" parting of the ways with a period of agreed garden leave might be the best solution IF a suitable replacement can be found. If we don't get a strong reaction from the team against West Ham then I might be convinced i's finally time to pull the plug.

Exactly.

I mean, if you showed someone totally unfamiliar with everything yesterdays match... and asked them which team had been managed by someone for 3 years, and which team had been managed by someone for 3 months...

Funny enough, that's exactly what i was saying to my mate on the weekend after the Wolves match. If you asked someone to pick the team who's managed by one of the supposed best managers in the world, one of the highest paid managers in the world, with one of the most expensively assembled squads in the world, they wouldn't be picking the team in red that's for damn sure.

I see people praising the quality of the players.

But the only consistency is the inconsistency of performance.

Defence makes mistakes regularly. There's regularly little pattern & coherence 'up top.'

And a list of players affected like this includes some of our best ones.

The whole shebang is a little bit stinky - Woodward, Jose, players - all being happy to blame each other, if you believe what's being reported

What does he need to do to reach the brink? relegation?
LVG went what, 8 games without a win? I also don't think Jose is that close to be sacked, he is very likely to finish the season unless of course we are mid table by Christmas.

I am not a massive fan of Jose particularly, but we have to back him at this moment in time. The problem(s) are the Owners, CEO, Manager and Players. If we sack Jose now the players can do what they like and know they'll get away with it. We already have too many players who are below the level expected of the club and too many who don't care coupled with a manager who doesn't play our style. Woodward didn't back Jose in the summer because he (jose) wanted rid of Pogba and Martial and Woodward looks at things through a purely business eye. Which leads to Jose having players who won't play for him. If you watch the City doc it's very interesting how little their CEO talks about money and business interests it's about what does Pep want, what is good for the style of play? He is doing everything for the football. Now I know thats just a massive load of PR but Woodward doesn't even talk a good game. In the long run we need new owners, in the medium term a DOF and in the short term we need to weed out the bad eggs.

Think i'll be more annoyed,if Jose were to leave/get sacked, that Carrick and McKenna would very likely have to follow him.As the case usually is when a new manager is brought in.
Couldn't give a hoot about Jose and his contract payoff millions.

I’m pretty sure the club would keep them around in some capacity. They may request one of them to be part of the setup for the incoming manager, ala Vangle and Giggs. Whatever the position, I doubt the club would completely show them the door as they would Mourinho.

I think a lot of this comes down to ego, our players will have a lot more than championship players. Also its not a surprise that a bunch of Derby players look up to Lampard and want to listen. I just don't think our squad really respects Jose that much these days, and who can blame them?

This is where I think a manager like Zidane would be amazing, even Pogba would look up to a man like that.

Top red she is. NOT on her watch can the fans voice their frustrations with shit show that we've been served since Sevilla.

To be fair to her, she later clarified that he kept abusing her in response and voluntarily left when security came up to him.

Still, I am not sure why dissent is being silenced. Surely everybody is free to voice their opinions.

Aye, true. But Sevilla is the straw that broke the camels back for many, including me.

Aye, but the rot started after we gave Jose a new deal and Sanchez was signed. From that moment onward our attack has fallen apart.

I'll keep posting this stat because i'm staggered by it, but Smalling is our 3rd highest premier league goalscorer in 2018 ffs.

He was swearing and being foul mouthed in front of kids.

Good job this lot weren't match going in the 70s

Only a handful of players remain behind Mourinho.

Sounds like a matter of time to be honest.

I don’t get this. Other than Pogba & Martial and possibly Rashford & Andreas who wouldn’t be behind him?
Lingard,Lindelof,Mata,Fellaini,Valencia & Young would be lucky to get playing time under Zidane or a different manager. Lukaku,Matic & Sánchez seem to be his favourites and have no threat to their position despite form.

Not true though, Guardiola, Klopp and Sarri have all come into their clubs and changed the way they play. It hasn't taken them nearly 2 years to show no changes.

The truth is Mourinho IS playing the way he wants. Low block, no press and try to counter attack. This isn't the football our fans want to see and it is old fashioned and easy to beat. We should be the aggressors that take the game to the opponent, not sitting back like cowards hoping for a sniff.

I did read that, she said that he's embarrassing himself. Now, I don't know exactly what was said but who feck is she to say to other paying fans how to support the team? I mean, I'm not surprised it got heated. Both of them aren't either wrong or right in entirety, if that makes sense. Both got a point.

No I agree. We were dire long before Sevilla. I remember it quite clearly, unfortunately.

That stat is absolutely ridiculous. It's clear that there is something very wrong with our team and throwing money at it won't solve the problem.

That's the thing though, we need a bigger sample to be able to judge properly.
I'd argue the entire calendar year is a good sample. We've been poor for a long period now, and were somehow getting a lot of results that we did not merit.

Of course, there’s far harsher looking interactions between managers and players in training grounds all over the country. Every single day. Still, though, hard not to jump to conclusions with all the shit in the press (and Mourinho’s record of falling out with players)

Some people still won't believe there's an issue there even though there's literally video footage.

Mourinho won't quit without a massive golden handshake (which he has turned into a habit), and Pogba is too expensive for other top clubs even the Spanish giants, will demand a huge wage and is probably not worth as much as Man Utd would demand for him. But quite clearly the two can't work together anymore and the club will ultimately have to make the tough decision of who to sacrifice. Even the fanbase is very divided as to who to get rid of between the two.
