The Modern / Current Players Draft

Shocked how many centre backs have gone before the best centre back in the draft. In my opinion of course.

@BorisDeLeFora I would be a little worried about a Vidic - Kompany partnership. Thoughts on why you chose it?
In the position I think three names stand out above the rest (unless I've missed someone), and Kompany is the best of the rest, so n terms of 'Names' I have two of the top four centre backs in the draft, which IMO will be the most difficult position to fill as the draft goes on.

As for them as a partnership yes both like to be aggressive and attack the ball, but at the same time both would be intelligent and aware enough not to go charging out after the same balls. Also, Kompany is one of the few centre backs available who had good pace, not just compared to Vidic but compared to quick forward players, which is important.

Reckon that's pretty shrewd, actually.

One can argue details as to who is slightly better than who, but your assessment is certainly there or thereabouts: You'll have two of the top four or five or close to it, meaning that it's highly unlikely anyone will be able to sport a better CB duo - and many will end up with much less impressive pairings.

Should count for something when we see the finished teams.

Very good pick. Taking in a three year peak in to account he's the stand-out striker in this draft with Suarez/Aguero having one out of those three years being some levels below. Zlatan has had 3 consecutive years, and is currently in his fourth, in which he was truly at world class level which I think he's alone at in this draft of the strikers.

Not that your first pick was any weaker.

True but Suarez went 7th pick and he's on another level in terms of hatred on a United forum you would think.
Suarez didn't stay that long here. And striker usually is more admired than CB.

Don't get me wrong I wasn't having a go because I think Suarez is a fantastic pick and I rate him very highly. In reality unrelated football stuff should never come into play when discussing players.

I know, mate. I think most football fans recognize player's quality, beyond other stuff.

Sorry guys. I actually checked last night and dozed off while checking.

@Stobzilla

I have @Physiocrat's pick, but I'm heading off to work in half an hour so I might not be around to post it. Anyone about that I can send it to, if not I will just pick someone from the list.

You can send it to me, I'm around during the day.

I have MJJ's and Physiocrat's picks, so please tag me once Stobz made his pick.
