I think all the fights have been shit so far besides the Bocek fight

I agree with your prediction NC, even though I HATE Mir. I feel he's gona win but I hope Carwin catches him with that cinder block he calls a fist

fair play to carwin...

brock looked waaaaay bigger than him after the fight though... that guy must be walking around at what 320lbs?...

Though he's been working very hard to get his weight back up after his illness. And he hasn't started cutting for his fight yet since he didn't know who he was fighting. Wouldn't be surprised if your guess was right. He used walk around at 295 I think

feck yeah, Brock is a monster. Carwin has a decent chance against him though. It said Carwin was 6'5. That had to be wrong. Mir looked a good bit taller, and Mir is 6'3.

I'm lovin it. I hate Hardys personality. Arrogance really annoys me. I know why he does it, but it's so much better to be reserved and mannerly

Hardy ain't winning but pretty amazing he's gotten this far, he's a tough mofo

Georges would have to snap his arm. I thought that Kimura was the end. He was seriously crankin it but Hardy wouldn't quit. no hope of submitting him unless he chokes him out. surprised he hasn't got the chance. GSP got Hardys back so many times

he might have lost all 5 rounds but dan can walk out of there without sustaining any real damange and showing how tough he is...

GSP totally demolished him but administered feck all damage. It's hard to see how anybody will beat GSP unless they get a Serra like lucky knockout punch. His takedowns are practically unstoppable. Hardy has some guts to be fair to him, not tapping out.

It has to be someone who is as good at wrestling, GSP's takedowns are near perfect and he is in complete control when on the ground. GSP isn't offensively great but completely neutralizes whoever is fighting.

Basically someone has to neutralize his neutralization

He is well able to finish though. Anyone else would have tapped from the kimura and the armbar.

His striking is good but it could improve. He simply knows he is best when he is wrestling someone to the ground. He knows nobody can touch him and he'll keep the title by doing it. It would be nice to see him knock someone out though. It was clear he was disappointed after the Hardy fight.

His humility really impresses me. he was apologising for not knocking him out. dominating the fight on the ground is plenty to be happy with but he's always aiming for more.

I agree, but Hardy is utter wank on the ground, so It wouldnt have taken much to finish him, and I think GSP let go of the armbar and kimura simply because he didnt want to snap hardy's arm, you could see him looking at the ref.

What I mean by he isnt great offensively is that he isn't an aggressor, he tends to wear people down and then make an offensive. So you need someone who is amazing at wrestling like him to neutralize his fantastic ground game. And then we'l see how much cutting edge he actually has

I think he does have a good offence, but he's not the violent type. So he'd rather wrestle ya and submit rather than straight up KO you.

That plus he didnt snap both hardy's arms in half

If he did that he'd never forgive himself

this is a guy who has a brown belt under eddie bravo... you know 10th planet guy... a brown belt under him probably ranks higher than a black belt under 90% of other instructors

go roll down leiceter shootfighters one night and feel how utter wank he is for yourself...

he isnt as good as gsp on the ground... fait enough... bj penn's ju jitsu wasnt good enough either and he is about as good as it gets... but dans was god enough to get him through 5 rounds without sustaining any real ground and pound damage... how is that utter wank???... you know nothing... even gsp commented on how much better his ground game was than he expected....

as for a wrestler to face gsp the bes two candidates for that are fitch and kos... and he has shown he is a class above that...

daley and thiago have to be in the mix to face gsp as they throw up different obsticles as well... but shields would probably be the fight at 170lbs that could cement his legacy in that division (its certainly shields best weight imo)

'kin awful UFC. What genius put Fitch & GSP on the same card?

Fair play to Hardy for hanging in there but I honestly don't see anyone in being able to stop those take downs. There's not a single match for GSP in that division now that interests me as a spectator.

Brock might have his hands full with Carwin.

did anybody see the post fight interview...

Fitch... I realy want a shot at the title...
Dana... Perhaps he should fight kos for the no1 contender spot
Fitch... Id never do that
Dana... He does not want a title shot that badly then
Fitch... If that fight ever happened it would be behind closed doors at the gym
Dana... Oh yeah like thats going to make lots of money...

a ko by daley and I guess that makes him no1 contender then

dana also said he thinks hardy will be a world champion one day... and as he says the wrestling is the area he needs to improve... which as he said we tend to be pretty poor in the uk because there is just no arena for people to realy compete and get good

I wouldnt be surprised to see dan move to America for the next year (his mrs is from there anyway)... work for his black belt with eddie bravo and wrestle up at extreme couture...

Burndogg you sexual degenerate! Clear your PM box. I've found a perfect quality one, right in time for the big fights.

Sorry Mustard, my internet went down last night, shitty luck, was wrecked anyway, but thanks, i seen the Carwin KO on Youtube today. The ref seemed more tired than me.

My respect for both GSP and Hardy increased after last night. It's a shame about Mir, but I don't reckon he'll give up now if he didn't before.

not sure what they will do with him

carwin vs brock will happen...

allegedly cain will fight the winner of that fight... no more fights inbetween...

so possibly a match up with dos santos?... not sure whats in it for mir though as a win put jds in line for a title shot but i dont know that it would put mir back up there...

another fight with big n.o.g?... thats just does not strike me as a fight with much relevance to the division anymore...

im not sure how many fights he has left on his deal... but if its only one or two i could see him looking for a fresh challenge in the shape of a certain russian.... im sure m1 would do a great one off deal for one fight if that was an option?

i think he would loose that as well but if he did win he must know that he could go back to the ufc and pretty much walk into a match with brock...

If brock loses to Carwin, would that not free him and Mir up for their rubber match?

yeah... but did you see the size of brock when he got in the cage :nervous:
It would be great if carwin won because he seems like such a cool bloke... but lesnar looked massive... i cerainly cattsee their match up going 5 rrounds... infact im not sure it will go 5 miins

It will be wildly interesting to see what happens with this one, Brock looked huge compared to the last time i saw him, but this past year cant have been good for him, and Carwin has some momentum going on and is yet to show a weakness, he even dispatched Mir in quicker time than Lesnar.

On an unrealated note is there any reason so many fans badmouth Dana White? What do you think of him? Be him a cnut?

dana....

he says one thing... 2 days later says the opposite...

fair play to him though he has played a big part in making the ufc what it is and he is a very good promoter as he always gets figts talked about...

i do believe he loves the sport... i also believe he loves money more... but hey it is a business

there are some very very good fighters outside the ufc though and untill they sign the likes of aoki, shields, moussasi and fedor they wont achieve the world wide dominance they want... and part of that probably comes down to dana...

i would be most interested to see what would happen if the olympics looked to reinstate pankration under mma rules... (would he look to ban his fighters?)...

though the one thing that pisses me off about him is TUF... yes it might be a money spinner but come on its getting old and there vis better talent out there in other promotions... try and get some of that rather than producing anoter tuf

Its all relative, obviously he would beat me in a contest, hes a professional whereas I grapple for fun part time, so it's a pointless comparison really, but at no point did GSP even look troubled, face it even if Hardy has a brown belt, GSP totally OUTCLASSED him on the ground. Fair enough, wank may not be a fair word to describe it, but at no point did he look troubled. His bjj was not close enough to being good enough to challenge GSP. As for ground and pound, if you noticed during the break his corner told him to stay away from the ground and pound till the last 30 seconds. That doesnt really give him much time to mount a G&P offense.

So I take it back, Hardy isn't wank on the ground, but he isn't nearly good enough to challenge GSP on the ground.

Hardy didn't really show anything but being stubborn.

In the minute or so of stand up over the fight he got beat.

In the 24 minutes of grappling he got dominated. GSP did plenty of damage to Hardy on the ground, but Hardy just seems to be the kind of guy who doesn't really show it. If he had skin like Fedor he would have been cut/scuffed/scratched to shit.

GSP needs the killer instinct. That is the only thing he lacks. He man handles everyone he fights but he constantly tries for mickey mouse shit.

I think GSP at 170 should stay in half guard and just work the GnP. GSP reminds me of Dennis Kang with how he constantly works for position but doesn't settle in to punish people. When he has side control he should be CONSTANTLY working those knees.

I just think that GSP could stop more fights if he worked more for position to punish, rather than position to go for arm/shoulder locks. Every time GSP moved to side control I knew basically nothing would happen. Hardy would give up his back and ultimately the fight could reset either on their feet for a take down or GSP would just transition back to full guard.

I still haven't seen Carwin demonstrate ANY wrestling. However, if he has any ability to neutralize Brocks shot, he will destroy him. In fact, I think Brocks "reign" will be short lived. I think Cain will out wrestle him into cardiac arrest. I think Dos Santos will smash him if Dos Santos can keep it standing for any length of time and I think Carwin will as well.

Actually, his corner told him several times to stop passing and getting to the ground and pound.
