If they hadn't traded the best fighter in the UFC for a washed up scrub then we could have had a good fight between Davison and him but instead we get nothing. Good times. Joe was washed by tonight, a few years ago it may have been a good fight.

Edit: best thing to do is coax Cejudo back to fight him. It's a very winnable fight for Henry too.

Why did I think Joe was still Team Alpha Male. Did he leave in the whole TJ v Faber drama?

At least the division is alive again. Uncle Dana, we want see MM vs Figueirdo. Get him back

Unfortunately will never happen, best we can hope for is Henry coming back for the fight. Its unfortunate to be honest but the fans are to blame as well by backing Dana with the whole 'ducking' TJ instead of backing DJ to be paid what he was worth for that fight (regardless of what the fight would do numbers wise DJ was the best fighter i the UFC at that point and had no controversies around his name, unlike Jones). Imagine thinking that DJ was ducking TJ when he fought prime Dominick Cruz while still working a full time job and a weight class up from his natural weight. Fans play a part of allowing Dana to screw fighters out of being paid what they should be paid.

Dana's happy though because he got to trade DJ for a guy with no striking and way past his prime but gave him the Masvidal KO, that's what matters most to Dana.

I don't think any big name gonna push for a fight with this killer, but fights vs Moreno or Askarov should be good fun. At least those gonna be competitive.

Oh yeah not taking anything away from Davison, he's an animal and his power is crazy. It's frustrating that of the two best fights out there for him one is fighting in a different organisation and the other is retired with Dana never going to pay him the money it would take to bring him back. It's unfortunate for Davison too as they are the two real legacy defining fights and he will probably never get the chance to have them.

Yeah you are correct for the most part. I’m selfish though and I was lucky enough to see Masvidal v Askren live and it was probably the best thing I’ve ever seen at any event ever.

Also I am not sure I’d rule out a DJ return

Thats probably that for Duffy. 3 in a row and finished twice.

Irish MMA needs a new shot in the arm

He retired alright. Definitely the right decision.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Conor come back to be whipped by Khabib again.

ps. So apparently, Khabib is no longer fighting in September. Surprise surprise...

He told Ali to make the Gaethje/Conor fight, but Gaethje doesn't want to risk his title shot.

Way to hold up a division...

By October, that will be one fight in two years. Even accounting for his fathers death and COVID, it’s not good enough. There is far too much talent in the division to have it held up like this.

They should make Gaethje/Conor for the title. Not that Conor deserves a shot, but it will get him to fight. Khabib coming back can have the match he was meant to have, or the Conor rematch the company want.

Somehow I can’t see the UFC stripping an undefeated fighter of his belt just after his Dad passed away.

They obviously won’t, it would be heartless being so soon after his death, but it’s a real pity with so many good fighters in that division. The fact they won’t/shouldn’t do it doesn’t mean it’s fair for the other fighters.

Gaethje in particular has put in so much work and improved so much as a fighter. He deserves to fight for the title next whoever that’s against.

Khabib should probably relinquish it until he is ready to come back. He would still be undefeated and would step back in to a money fight. He is a competitor and has often talked of his respect for other fighters. He should recognize it’s been too long.

It should be a simple mandatory champion clause stipulation. "You must defend your title at least once in the next 365 days following your winning/defending the belt".

Proper rules make everything better. Same rules for everybody. No feelings involved.

The bald feck was quick to strip El Cucuy even when he came back to fight in under a year after beating Lee.

Anyway, Dana don't give a feck. He only cares about money.

I'd be surprised to see Khabib fight before next year. Eventually they will have to strip him the longer it goes on but he'd probably get an immediate rematch and win the title again anyway.

I'm surprised they aren't aiming to do Justin vs McGregor for the title in hope that Conor wins and they get their sequel fight.

Dana seems to be maintaining his respect for Khabib, and quite right too. I don't think he'll strip him. He's a Khabib fan.

That obviously isn't how Dana operates. He has favorites, he has people he freezes out, he makes decisions based on money, he also makes decisions on what who he thinks is deserving of title fights etc.

feck me Gus looks huge. If he can keep his stamina, he could be a real contender at heavyweight... Just don't let him have a fight in Sweden :nervous:

Herb Dean is usually shit though. I dont know why people rate him so highly (probably seniority).

man, what a way to give throw the fight. Trinaldo had one way to win the fight... and Herbert gifted to him.
