The MMA thread

Werdum, for being a bjj black belt, doesn't even want to go to the ground.

Oleinik's overhand is so slow now. He's gassed.

Heavyweights usually get 1 shot and out. Theres a reason why its always the oldest division, its the sustained beatings that does the damage.
Im surprised that Joe is in awe of Oleinik age

I wonder where Alexander Karelin would stack up in MMA. If Fedor can be considered GOAT then Karelin surely could be somewhere similar. His wrestling record is 887 wins and two losses. 3 time Olymoian gold medalist. He would maul Cain Velasquez for instance.

not a great fight, but werdum who is far from prime werdum did well to recover for these 1st. Might be a draw

This was in relation to the scoring of the Carla vs Waterson fight. Or are you asking about the Joe Rogan bit?
Yeah I was. I found Rogan being very critical of judges before. I found him being critical of referees before. I'm of the opinion that he's quite objective tbh.

Has anyone fought more high profile fights than Cowboy?

Loser of this one is nowhere to be honest. It’s seen as just a nice match up of two veterans, but the loser here has nowhere to go.

He calls out things as he sees them. He may not be correct all the time but he stands by what he says and I'll give him that. But some of the decisions in the UFC really beggars belief. A better pool of judges is definitely needed.

That's not up to Rogan or Dana White though. Rogan is just a commentator just like Martin Tyler for instance. He explains as rounds play out really well. Real casual friendly. I personally like him.

Seriously how in the feck is Pettis 155 with that belly on him?
I'm 3 cm taller than him and I could not get below 185 when I was doing royal marines training.. I don't get it.

I like Joe too. Has a good way of explaining the fights especially when the fight goes to the ground. He was a huge influence for me to start training in Bjj.

Yeah I like him. He might use a bit of hyperbole but overall he's a good commentator and so far as I know he's definitely not bias to any single fighter.

Not sure if it’s just me ....

With noise, crowd and razzmatazz distractions, you can sometimes lose empathy with the violence, brutality and pain that is going on.

With everything stripped away (aside from some irrelevant commentary), when you can hear every punch and kick land on skin, the groans, laboured breathing and chit chat between fighters, it makes the fight all the more real. No way to deny they are actually kicking the shit out of each other.

Cowboy has stage fright. The amount of world class fighters he fought and lost them all, just shows you; - because tonight he looks really good again, against a great fighter.. A fight which is essentially inconsequential.

Really got going in the 3rd. Wish it was 5 rounds
