Valentina is the best women’s fighter. She damn near beat Nunes twice.

Arguably would’ve won the first if it was a five rounder. Didn’t come close to beating her second time around.

She’s a joy to watch though. A true, complete and dangerous martial artist. The discrepancy between her and her “challengers” is scary.

Valentina thinks she won the rematch. Now that she is fighting at a more advanced level, I think she could take Nunes and do a champ/champ. Would be a great NYE fight.

What happened in the ferguson cowboy fight?

Competitive first round. Tony busted him up in the 2nd. Appeared to land a late shot at the end of the round. Cowboy blew his seemingly broken nose - the cardinal sin - and the fight was called off at the recommendation of the Doc. TKO win for Tony.

I mean, I’d watch it again.. I’m not sure we’d see a different result though. It’s not due to having a less complete skill set, or having a glaring hole exposed in her game.. It’s down to size and inability to match Nunes physically - But who can? It goes back to the age-old adage of, “A good big one, beats a good little one.”

Hard to take his ‘hitlist’ seriously. Cruz, Garbrandt and Faber? I mean.. Get real. If the UFC actually pursue one of those, it would be cringeworthy. I get it, he wants paid.. But that doesn’t excuse him a fight with Petr Yan, whom he interestingly made no mention of. Even Aljo is a more apt opponent than any of the three on his radar.

He has to fight Yan at this point. Cody is coming off two losses, Cruz has been in semi retirement mode and nobody is interested in him vs Faber. As for moving up to 145...Max would absolutely demolish him, the size difference is too much IMO.

To be fair, people say this every time he fights

Great win that was though. Got schooled first round then made a great adjustment. Keep cringing all he wants, as long as he fights like that, people will watch.

Crazy how's he's the most accomplished fighter in combat sports history.

That was a good card! If they do a rematch for Ferguson and Cowboy I hope they have it headlining so it can be 5 rounds. Although probably its too big of a fight for a Fight Night.

Cejudo is annoying but that was a great win for him. Why did Moraes completely stop with the leg kicks though? I get that it was harder as Cejudo completely closed the space in the second round but he still had some opportunities and he didn't even attempt any more.

True, I just think the size and reach difference will be too much.
He's a brilliant fighter Cejudo, I don't like his interviews but I always tune in to see him fight.

I honestly think he couldn't think of any names off the top of his head...no way are bh of the 3 worthy of a shot!!

Fans of the sport will. I think any card he headlines does poor numbers unless the undercard is stacked as is tradition with small fighters

She'd have to catch Valentina first. We talk about great strikers, and there are more than few, but virtually no one has greater efficiency than Bullet. How many times can you remember her being hit clean? She makes so few mistakes it's unreal.

Pound for pound Valentina is the best women's MMA fighter. Hands down.

Oh and El Cucuy! Barely a scratch on him. Shame it couldn't go three rounds, hell I could watch this man fight all day. Who else inflicts such damage in such poetic fashion. Maestro!

How has this guy not got his title shot yet, so unlucky especially considering the guys he’s beat:

I agree with the first part, she’s stunning with her fundamentals and technique. Everything she throws is clean, smooth and very often is there no tell/read in what she goes with. I love to watch her fight and I’m a fan of her.

Having said that, you ranking her as the ‘pound for pound’ best, totally substantiates the point I made in my post. Pound for pound rankings are fun and nice to talk about; however, we’ve seen reality in the case of Nunes/Shev, twice. When you have two fighters of comparable level, more often than not the bigger fighter prevails. Hence, I go back to the adage, ‘A good big one, beats a good little one.’

What you’re saying about Shev generally, particularly her ability to see shots and defend them, is totally accurate though, in my opinion.

The trouble with Cejudo is that he’s effectively taken over the domination of two divisions which means there won’t be much competition for both belts. At least when MM was dominating at 125, you had the likes of TJ, Cody, Cruz and others making 135 interesting. Now that’s all gone which makes both divisions incredibly generic and uninteresting.

I am furious with BT making UFC 239 PPV. How many buys do they expect from UK viewers. The popularity of UFC in the UK is linked with BT getting the rights of PL.

It’s cheeky. I fully expect it to fail and hopefully spark a return to the typical format. There’s no market for PPV in the UK, as much as they desperately want there to be. I believe BT Sport have also contradicted the terms they outlined when they renewed their coverage of the UFC:

https://sport.bt.com/ufc/bt-sport-t...ing-new-broadcast-rights-deal-S11364317648897

Every numbered and Fight Night event will continue to be shown live on BT Sport - both on TV and online - as the partnership is extended into 2019 and beyond.”

I suppose they could be pedantic and claim that it’s still technically available on their channel; however, not in the format most would have anticipated.

Ferguson's interview in the after show thing was spot on. They bleeped and censored so much of it, but the truth was still apparent. The UFC is farcical in how they make fights and the sport will not be taken as seriously as it should be until fighters get their title shot on merit and not Dana's manipulation.

People seem to dislike how Ferguson talks; the guy is clued up on how the game works, far more than most.

See I disagree I think she won the 2nd fight. Nunes wasn’t landing but was pushing forward being the aggressor but for me on a pure point scoring basis Valentina won that fight comfortably but not a lot of people appreciate someone fighting on the back foot and doing it well.

However I saw a pic of Nunes yesterday and she is huge. I’ve done boxing and stuff since I was like 11 but not in my life would I want to get in a ring with her :lol:

Tony Ferguson. He’s so weird, you watch him and classically you’d say at times his striking is terrible but it kind of works for him. So many times he leaves himself on the line with his chin in the air and off balance or his feet close together and yet no one really ever seems to take advantage of it. Almost like they are frozen or shocked that these openings would be there or they are waiting for the next thing.

He basically freezes people with the weirdness and they start questioning if they should throw or not. Some of the combos are so risky as well but it just all seems to work for him. There was one moment he did some stupid stuff cowboy ducked it and Tony ended up with his back to Cowboy where cowboy could easily have just thrown up a head kick but didn’t. Almost 5 seconds after he should have thrown it funnily enough he threw a head kick that kinda landed.
Just such a weird fighter and for someone who doesn’t look like he throws with power he must be carrying some.

Finally the Jessica Eye KO. That’s a

Crazy how McGregor walked straight into a title fight with Alvarez, has a LW record of 1-1, and gets to call himself a LW champ, while Ferguson has basically cleared out the division and is still probably third in line for a title shot.
