The MMA thread

I just don't think he has the fight in him when things start going wrong, looks like he could barely wait before he tapped out. All that talk, all those insults, talking about how he and his fans are taking over and thats how you perform? He needed to be humbled, and Khabib embarrassed him. Khabib just lost it at the end and ruined his moment

That's definitely true. When Nate clocked him in the face he suddenly lost his fight and attempted a take down. Once Khabib took him down early today, you could just see the look of helplessness on his face....like a deer that just got constricted by an Anaconda.

Did he though? He wasn't even under his chin.
Tougher fighters would have tried to get out of the situation.
McGregor just knows he has no way to defend himself on the ground vs good BJJ guys.

I'd have to look at it again.

Took the piss out of him for not drinking and called Khabib's manager a "terrorist snitch". There's some back story to that as the guy was genuinely believed to be involved in some sort of radical Islamist group a while back (pretty easy to find on Youtube) so I wouldn't say that's bigotry or whatever. The stuff he said about Khabib's dad/attacking the bus is far worse!

Appreciate the info. McGregor is a right cnut; I'm certainly not going to argue otherwise.

I agree

Uh. The guy JUMPS into the cage. Runs PAST Conor. Conor moves towards him (Im assuming says something) the guy TURNS, circles BACK AROUND to Conor, and they both swing at each other. A second guy JUMPS in with the red shirt, and swings at McGregor.

This is like, incredibly simple to follow.

Why did he jump into the cage though?

How is Khabib not disqualified for that?

I don't see how he's not stripped for that and suspended.

Conor was acting way, way too cocky in the stand-up, which is just needless. Removed his only chance to win with that foolishly brazen approach.

Khabib wanted to kill him. Literally.

In the second round, when Khabib was opening up, looked to me like Conor was looking for a way out too. He stopped actively defending and went turtle defense. Which actually kind of worked, but by accident I think.

Yeah, you're right actually, having watched it again. It's a different guy getting held back at the start. But that still suggests that it wasn't McGregor that instigated the shit in the cage.

I wouldnt call Khabib a cnut or scumbag....first time he has lost his shit....he was just extremely angry...lost the plot. Not going to begrudge him for it.

The stuff he said about his dad was shitty, think most would agree. I don't have much sympathy for anyone who loses their rag over someone calling their superstitions dumb, though that might not have even factored into it as he had other reasons to be pissed off.
Again, walk a mile in his shoes and then you can say that. He holds his religion closer to him than even his own family, so seriously, I can see why he did what he did after everything he was put through in the build up.

So many wankers involved. Someone on Khabib said he's quitting with this win. Conor signed that 6 fight deal but who knows. Mayweather 2? Won't watch it.

Ferguson fight was incredible. I'd like to see him as champion.

Pity now that Conor probably won't fight GSP but maybe. I'd have loved to have seen GSP win that, mostly because he acts the total opposite to the likes of Conor, or now Khabib

 Khabib's scary. As soon as he landed that right in round 2, Conor wanted no part of this.

That right hand was the moment of clarity for McGregor that he’s in there with a killing machine. All along he assumed he was the superior puncher in style and power and that Khabib possessed none, but that shot rocked him. Khabib even faced up to McGregor with his hands down for the majority of the remainder of the fight. McGregor’s power didn’t scare him and he knew he had McGregor pretty much beaten by then. It was only a matter of which method of victory Khabib would choose.

Was Conor stripped or suspended for the bus incident? IIRC Dana was happy with the little public disorder charge or whatever it was.

I don't know if anything happened before that. I'm just going by what the video shows. The guy runs in, circles around and past McGregor. McGregor starts moving/gesturing/whatever towards the guy, and the guy comes back and they throw at each other.

More video evidence will show up im sure.

the irony is this "get the boys on him" is what I'd nearly expect of McGregor which is me being judgmental in my own right, but it's why I don't like McGregor. So I can't like this in Khabib... It's why I didn't like slapping Artem, it's why I didn't like Conor flying his boys over to NY.

who else are you talking about? I'm confused by that

I am guessing here our cultural/religious upbringing/backgrounds are giving us very different perspectives on what's an appropriate response to what's been done in the past. Maybe I'm wrong with that but it's an interesting thought. Perhaps we can discuss on a less emotionally charged night.

Also no idea what was said by Dillon but youre making assumptions there (you could be correct!)

what if I don't like either of them? Can I call them both cnuts?
I'm talking about the sucker punch from the guy on Khabib's team.

Disqualified? It was over already.

I don't think he had the belts at the time?

Plus he was actually arrested and brought to court. Presumambly that won't happen to Khabib, so a suspension wouldn't be at all surprising.

But did the guy jump into the cage to run laps or to instigate a fight?

Ladies and gentlemen, if you would like to see what started the "conor" incident.

I give you Conor McGregor, swinging at a guy sitting on the fence.

Conor's punching looked a little light. His legs and feet were a bit shakey after those early rounds. Khabib did a good job getting to him.

I think thats why Dana wouldn't give him the belt. He has to face suspension after that.

Wasn't Conor trying to carry belts around with him in the build up to this fight?

He didn't officially hold any belt but I can't remember him properly being stripped. Or at least, Conor didn't accept any stripping.
