The MMA thread

It seems like he's concussed or got some kind of brain trauma. It makes sense hes been in some very physical fights and is meant to spar quite hard. It'll be a shame if his career is cut short but it might be best ofr his long term health.

He's looked out of it in a load of videos including the Bisping 1 which has been posted.

sad if true. I'm no doctor but I feel fighters who make drastic cuts like him, who then are sparring or fighting while not fully hydrated can leave their body more vurnerable to all types of injuries. From what I'm told the brain is usually the last part of the body to rehydrate after weight cut. I'll quote an old article that I read a while ago and was able to find online. Sherry Wulkan, a ringside doc "says it can take between 24 and 72 hours for the body to rehydrate following a significant weight cut. The brain is usually the last part of the body to rehydrate, so fighting can increase the likelihood of concussion."
Hopefully he's ok, but it's not looking good.

That video is a tough watch having now seen it. Fair play to Bisping for calling it out, not sure most would have. Also phrased it well by mentioning tiredness rather than anything else.

Is Max Holloway very ill in hospital or have I missed something? I knew he had to pull out of the fight earlier today but it sounds like it's more serious...:nervous:

He's showing concussion symptoms. Shit is no joke, I'm annoyed that this fight got cancelled but some MMA fans are worse than Redcafe after a loss. This is very serious and I hope he's ok.

Yeah I hope he's ok.

I'm curious why these symptoms weren't diagnosed earlier since he shouldn't have been engaged in any heavy combat in the final week.

The last fight of TUF was the fight of the season. What a war.

Looking forward to seeing some of the guys tomorrow. Overall, despite all the dudes been undefeated, the season wasn't the best. Some fighters were absolute crap, but i can see a couple doing alright in the UFC.

My guess is his team weren't really aware of the problem until he started doing interviews and other people from outside their circle started mentioning he was off. Listening to Dana in the press conference, it was the Bisping interview that set alarm bells ringing.

wtf wasn't that fight gonna happen for another promotion?

Suspect its for another promotion since Tito is not exactly on great terms with Dana.

It's for Oscar De la Hoya's MMA promotions (Golden Boy MMA).

Kinda intrigued about it but neither of those guys should be fighting at their age (Tito 43 and Chuck 48 iirc). Seen a video of Chuck doing some "shadow boxing" recently. Looks exactly like you would expect. No doubt he can still throw a punch but don't know how many!

Car crash TV.

Think Tito takes it with his wrestling and being 5 years younger.

Dana reckons Holloway could have water poisoning. I didn’t even know this was a thing, I drink close to 6/7 litres or more on most days.

How the feck Gunther and Zuñiga got contracts to fight in the UFC? They are almost as bad as CM Punk.

They just get this one because its on the tuf card no?

Not like a 4 fight contract etc.

Because both are trash, Zuniga looks like he's been hitting the pies since the show.

What about Dulani and the others not fighting tonight?

Not even amateur level this crap.

feck I'm glad that shit is over. It was painful to watch.

Luis Peña next to make us forget.

Smullen didn't even got to fight in the show. Lets see what he brings to the table. Supposedly has killer leg locks attacks...

Nice from Pena, looked great in his first fight during the series.

Smullen's a bum.

Smullen trains in my gym and is a legit nice and humble guy. Looked very nervous before the fight. He looked a little outclassed though, the betting odds in the lead up said it all. He just isn't experienced enough to deal with that big lump. Brad still on later to save SBG

Whittaker and Gastelum to coach season 28 of the Ultimate Fighter, and fight for the title. Weidman got snubbed haha.

Should be a great season and a great fight.

I think he will. The other guy is super tough but not very good.

Submission maybe.

Brad look small as feck for the division though.

Can't wait to see more from Adesanya. A gift from the MMA gods to light up the middleweight division. The way he beat the crap of a super tough Brad Tavares, wow, it was beautiful.

He wants the winner of Borrachina vs Hall next.
