The MMA thread

Not the best fight night so far.

Saki looked impressive for 3 minutes. I think it was an early stoppage but nice UFC debut nonetheless.

Gadehla vs Andrade next

Soooo Andrade as if she didn't show in the Joanna fight she can take a beating and keep moving forward. Gahdelia I think hits harder than Joanna and in the first 3-4 minutes she was just out classing her with strikes and I thought she might get a finish which would be a big statement. After that 1st round tho she just gassed. Looks like to stop Andrade you basically have to kill her or else she'll just keep pushing forward. Throwing Claudia about as well. I bet she ain't used to that.

Saki as well. Dominating with strikes then all of a sudden the tank was gone and it looked like he was hurt until that left. Some of his striking in the early minutes was awesome.

Joanna is more of a measured counter puncher who gradually wears down her opponents over the length of the fight. This is why she did well against both Gadheli and Andrade and would probably have a similar result if she faced either yet another time.

Bendo not having a good time of it at all recently. Maybe the signs were there before he left to join Bellator

Larkin v Daly looked good fun

Match makers made correct call to feed Pico a chump

Fights I'd like to see:

1. Miocic v Ngannou

2. Cormier - Oezdemir

3. Rockhold - Whitaker

4. McGregor - Ferguson/Lee

5. Diaz - Khabib

6. Cruz - Garbrandt

7. Woodley - Dos Anjos

8. Cutelaba - Texeira

9. Nunes - Pennington

10. Aldo - Ortega

Solid list that, agree with all of them really (Number 9 I'm not to fussed about but the fight makes sense)

Re Ngannou I do sympathise with him the JDS fight was his test if he was ready but it didn't happen. I would like to see him fight Overeem if not Stipe to give him that test. Also wouldn't mind seeing DC vs. Gus 2, think Gus could beat him this time. I honestly don't think DC has looked all that great in his last few fights.

:annoyed:

motherfecker, here we go again...

NAte hit the jackpot with Conor around. He's basically a gatekeeper who is an awkward style for McGregor.

If he beat him which is completely possible it will be 100 times worse than any other UFC title reign I'd guess, worse than Bisping and McGregor. Diaz wouldn't defend the belt unless it's for ridiculous money, them 2 are in a world of their own.

If Nate beats Conor - Conor would still be able to ask for yet another fight and the UFC would obviously oblige given Conor's ability to call his own shots.

Said all the way back in November:

It wouldn't surprise me if he now refuses to fight Khabib and Ferguson at 155, two much more credible challengers than Alvarez who I stick by saying was a makeshift champion. I said this when this fight was made, it wouldn't surprise me one single bit if they both get passed up on and they make Diaz/McGregor 3 for the title.

And here we are with the discussion of McGregor/Diaz for his first title defense. Shame really as I don't want to hate on that fight, the first two were brilliant fights but it'll be annoying to see any of Ferguson, Khabib (can't get himself healthy in fairness) or even Lee now he's fighting Ferguson get overlooked for the title shot. Really hope Ferguson and Lee tear the house down next weekend to send a message.

How do people know he's refusing to fight them though? It seems odd that people will take the side the fighter is "refusing" to fight people.

Whilst this fight will probably happen it isn't guaranteed and how can you blame him for taking a Diaz fight? Maybe it was the first fight offered and he isn't one to turn it down? To say someone refused something would mean he was offered that first and said no when in reality no one knows that the case. I.e. apparently Bisping was offered GSP before any other fight so would be stupid to turn that down to fight someone else.

Khabib should be no where near a title shot either until he can prove he can actually fight and make weight, he's ridiculously inactive and I don't blame the UFC or McGregor for not wanting to risk a fight with someone like him when there's a good chance he doesn't show up.

I don't think anybody has said he refused apart from my post with the quote which was all the way back in November. Refused would be the wrong word, I don't see him as that kind of guy so back then I should have worded it better.

It's a great fight, I'd be lying if I said it doesn't piss me off if it happens though when you have legit contenders. Diaz is 2-3 in his last 5 Lightweight fights. Meanwhile Ferguson is on a 9 fight winning streak. I agree on the issue of Khabib with his weight/health but he's a legit contender no matter what who is undefeated. The only argument you can make for Diaz getting that shot over him if he's healthy is the story and money it generates (and let's be real, whoever McGregor fights at this stage it'll do great numbers).

I'll see what happens. It doesn't help that his coach is saying for next year in March, that's just absolute madness to hold the top of the division up until then. Not only would McGregor have won the Featherweight title and never defended it but he'd have then won the Lightweight title and taken a year and a half to defend it against a guy who clearly shouldn't get that title shot right now ahead of 3 fighters, maybe even 4 if undefeated Gaethje wins against Alvarez in December.

I just saw a video of a guy winning an actual fight by submission with the fecking walls of jericho. What a time be alive!

Deleted. What did it say ?

It was your man from Geordie Shore who's had two pro fights saying he's fighting CM Punk in December. But I looked around since then and reckon he was joking. Him deleting it probably proves as much.

While listening to this i was thinking:

1. No way this is El Cucuy. Doesn't sound like him at all.

2. If it's really him, he must be having the worst weight cut of his life. I got worried at that point.

Luckily, i was right and it wasn't el Cucuy.

Ferguson reckons he could take Werdum huh?

Just look at the size difference when they both stand up. You really do need a certain level of delusion to get that confidence to be a top professional fighter.
