Mmmmm yummy...humble pie
Woke up at 6 and started watching. One of those incredible HOLY feckING SHIT moments.
Wow. Just wow.
Ariel made a choice and he has to take the consequences. If he were leaking news from the Game Of Thrones or Star Wars set he would get shunned from them as well.
That UFC video hyping UFC 200 would have been one of the most epic reveals of all time and Ariel took that away. At the very last minute too.
If Ariel was told this news by someone lining up the video and knew it would be revealed within the hour then he deserves this imo.
Hendo always likes a few just in case shots after his knockoutsDid Henderson and Lombard have some kind of beef? 2 completely uncalled for elbows by Henderson, what a prick.
Dana got him his job as Fox. He built his reputation and contacts through that job and was used by the UFC to break big news to the public. Are you serious? How is that even comparable? He doesn't work for the UFC, he's an independent journalist, it's his job to get the inside scoop. Dana and the Lorenzos, those two bit Mafia juice heads, are just scum, pure and utter scum.
But UFC and wwe aren't the same. I realise Brock returning is big news....but should it be treated like a surprise return storyline like in wwe? That's pretty much what they tried to do last night.Didnt see it happening, but so happy it did. Fantastic stuff, and first UK champ. Happy for Bisping, he deserves bigger fights imo.
The Helwani stuff is mad. I can see why UFC would be fecking pissed cos that UFC200 video was amazing, but yeah, the shock factor was gone and all directed towards Ariels tweet. But then it also depends on how he got the information (journalist afterall). Its the same reason WWE hate "dirtsheets" who provide spoilers. I do think UFC should be more aligned with these guys (and if they find out, state, not to spoil it). I dunno, its a hard one cos I like Ariels stuff.

Dave Meltzer works with mmafighting.com as well and was told not go say anything on the subject (irony)
He did state that there is more to the story. Brock returning is huge news. To reach an agreement with WWE, film his promo etc means a lot of people knew. There are crossover reporters for both companies who would have known.
Hell Brock has been training mma since April! There had to have been others that would have loved to break this news but decided not to.
Do we honestly think Brocks opponent doesn't know he's fighting Lesnar one month out?
UFC is a unique company to report on. It's not like the NFL etc that have this fixed fan base and news is need in a sporting sense. They rely on ratings and ppv buys so depend on big reveals and having a buzz around the product for their events to be a success. They need news to come out and have an instant impact, news trickling out like a stream completely dilutes its worth.

It would be like Utd having a new transfer that nobody knows about and suddenly bring him out from behind a curtain.

He's a journalist, it's what they do. They break stories before other journos do and sometimes before the official announcement is made. To criticize Helwani for doing his job is a bit strange. I can see how a journo in a Russia, North Korea, or China context would be escorted out by security, but certainly not in a free society.
