If he lost his leverage he'd still be out of UFC200.

My point is, Jones came out the fight injury free and Cormier suggested he's almost ready to start training. DC/Jones would have been then worthy of headlining 200 and help make up the numbers.

The idea was being pushed that only Conor/Diaz would be able to headline 200. Hence Conor "lost his leverage".

Dana as their frontman was made look the fool at the conference. Ultimately though its the Fertitta's who make the final call

Silly from the UFC to bend over.

I am officially up for Diaz to destroy McGregor at UFC 200 and put him firmly back in his place

We'll never know what's really happened to get him back, but i think it's going to be seen as a loss for UFC, although i'm sure the money they will get for a McGregor fight will make up for it.

This is why i think UFC changed their mind.

- All throughout the lead up to UFC 197, nobody was talking about UFC 197.
- The 'kick off' presser for 200, i think 90% was Dana and Nate fielding questions about Connor.
- Nate came out and said he didn't want anyone but McGregor, 5 minutes after Dana said Nate will fight someone else.
- UFC 197 had low gate and low PPV buys.
- After Connors statement a lot of fighters came out and agreed with him, bar Nate and Aldo taking pops, most were sympathetic. Ariel Helwani even said most of the fighers at the presser told him that they didn't care about Connor no showing.
- Even Joe Rogan came out and said Connor should be on UFC 200.
- At the end of the day, i think they know it's what the public wants.... and Connor's right his tweets and statements have got a lot more buzz than your standard presser.

That being said, would be hilarious if Dana / UFC have not actually agreed, and Connor is just stirring it up.

Not on McGregors side in this argument what so ever. Actually surprised so many are taking his side.

Wanted Nate to win anyway but this makes me want him to beat McGregor even more. Don't really dislike McGregor but I don't like the way he's handled this situation.

The UFC is kind of stuck though. The McGregor situation for them is unique as he is a huge draw and by far their biggest at the moment. Fans probavly don't care if he doesn't turn up to a press conference as they want to see him fight. He's created an image for himself and done very well doing it. Whilst he is no way bigger than the brand he's the biggest thing they have.

White did make good points. The press conference was done months in advance so everyone could carry on training but people really won't care about that at all. The McGregor fans will always side with him.

There's no confirmation that this is actually true yet btw.

It's possible Conor is just trying to force their hand. Who knows at this point. Although messing with his fans emotions again would surely be a stupid thing to do.

The majority of fans aren't.

Its mainly the media outlets led by fecking Hewani, pretending contracts don't matter and that MMA will cease to exist if McDiva doesn't headline 200.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, I'm assuming an official announcement on who is headlining will be before then.

McGregor's teammate Paddy Holohan just retired. (For real)

Sad about Paddy

Got to meet him the day after his fight in dublin last october and he was sound

thats him and Pendred gone now

 TMZ reporting that Dana says the fight is still off.

In either case, Dana needs to come out with a statement to finally put this issue to bed once and for all and name a replacement fight for Nate if Conor is still off. With tickets going on sale soon, this issue needs to be done and dusted so people know who they are paying to see.

If I was Kavanagh or hsi agent I would take control and ban McG from all social media

Kavanagh is just as bad!!

I don't think they will though, he'll divide opinion but he definitely is a huge draw not even people who don't like him can argue that. Even if he doesn't fight at 200 people will be paying good money to see his eventual return fight.

It's all a bit silly now but it is getting people talking so I doubt either party is hugely bothered.

He had put a statement out though in fairness. He has said multiple times the fight is off. HE said it about 10 times at the presser the other day. It's not his fault no one believes him.

McGregor's really going all out with this shit stirring. Kinda weird really.

Conor McGregor has NOT been added back to the UFC fight card ... this according to UFC honcho Dana White.

TMZ Sports spoke to White this morning ... who tells us, "It's not true. We haven't talked to Conor or his manager since the press conference. I don't know why he would tweet that."

McGregor caused a firestorm Monday morning by tweeting, "Happy to announce that I am BACK on UFC 200! Shout out to @danawhite and @lorenzofertitta on getting this one done for the fans. #Respect"

Twitter also had McGregor taking a flight, Iceland to Ireland. So he might have packed up his training camp.

Next month's bills are due... Conor tried to play they're bluff but they didn't blink now he's coming running back. Makes him look like an idiot.

I think he's afraid of Diaz and doesn't want to fight him.

They just added the fight to fight pass and I've watched it a handful of times. Conor came out doing well but completely buckled once Nate tagged him. He doesn't have the range to box with Nate and he doesn't have the ground game to wrestle him, which leads me to think that barring something completely unexpected, the 2nd result would pretty much mirror the first.

Totally. Any way you slice it, it's a bad matchup for Conor. Diaz has a great chin and can take a beating like no one else. Styles make fights.

I think he's fine to fight Diaz but can't face sitting opposite him at a press conferences.

He knows he wouldn't have a leg to stand on in any back and forth with Diaz.

Who are the favourable matchups for him at 155 then? Basically no one decent. The consensus before his last fight was that his bad match ups were those who'd take him to the ground like RDA and Khabib, and that the likes of Nate were an easy fight for him. The loss comes that barely anyone predicted and now Nate is the nightmare style for him.

That's actually a really good angle. Conor would have to humble himself next to the moderately successful fighter who beat him. Nate would be up there clowning him.

Didn't some people preach caution when going up in weight class before the previous fight? Conor's excellent striking was mostly neutralized at the higher weight. Diaz has the size and durability to withstand Conor's biggest asset. On the ground Conor is in trouble against an experienced Jiu-Jitsu guy. His skills didn't translate to 170, at least not against Diaz's skillset.

If you were Conor's coach, how would you plan for him to fight the rematch? Pour it on in the first round and go for a knockout? Let Diaz work some punches and hope he exposes his chin?

I don't think Nate is interested in the 155 division at the moment. He's more focused on making as much money as he possibly can, and that is obviously a fight with Conor. This is his big pay day after having been relegated to making 20/20 for ages. After this fight, he could probably retire based on how much he will make from this and the first Conor fight. If he wins again and continues fighting, he will be able to punch his own ticket by fighting whoever he wants in LW or possibly get someone like Thompson or Condit at the WW level.

He's taller than RDA and is realistically too big to be cutting to 145.

I flew an entire team to Portugal and to Iceland to make my adjustments in preparation and fix my errors I made with the weight and the cardio prep.
With the right adjustments and the right focus, I will finish what I started in that last fight.

He won a round and a half by being the quicker and more dynamic striker (albeit Nate had no camp), my guess is he thinks with more cardio focused training he'll be able to do that for the full 5 rounds this time. It's a tough ask.

If they fight again, Conor won't be able to 'out-cardio' Nate, especially if Nate gets the benefit of a full camp and isn't coming off getting pissed up on a yacht in Cabo. Conor's only chance will be to land one of his lefts that actually connects on Nate's tiny jaw and then ground and pound him out. If it goes later, Nate's cardio and wrestling will take over and Conor will either lose on points or gas and get submitted on the ground.

Aye, I'd guess the plan is to be in better condition this time and not to go head hunting from the start. I think he has longer reach with his kicks so he could be more patient and work those body kicks a bit more. Better conditioning + smarter tactics + Diaz' reluctance to take the fight to the ground could make a big difference.

The problem with that plan is that Diaz should also be in better condition this time as he'll have a full camp. Plus Conor's style isn't particularly suited to drawn out fights. Usually the longer a fight goes the worse it is for him.

Agree with this. Conor's boxing strengths tend to diminish over time. If he doesn't take care of Nate in the first or second, then Nate's cardio, volume punches, and jiujitsu will take over.
