Very impressive victory but I think Aldo is someone who could cause McGregor alot of trouble, But saying that I had my doubts when conor fought Diego Brandao and he proved me wrong and also thought Siver could trouble him tonight and he didnt

I met Conor a few months ago and had a quick chat with him hes alot taller and built than I thought too

Also Pendred stole his victory tonight

Cracking performance from McGregor. Siver seemed beat entering the ring. Afraid to throw anything with bad intentions or risk stepping out of line.

Not saying he's as good as Anderson Silva or anything daft as that, but to impose that mind frame into an opponent before the first proper exchange is traded is so similar to how Anderson propelled his way to legendary status.

That said, I think Aldo is right to feel very confident about this fight. McGregor is still very open to shots, kicks especially. It's just a case of picking the moment. Aldo has been hurt before, he's been very fatigued before too, if his stamina isn't on point then that aura that McGregor has could mentally break him down if he gets frustrated in the fight. And those straight lefts, probably not knock out shots on their own but the repetitive manner in which McGregor peppers them now throughout the rounds all adds up to a concussive effect that will take it's toll on any opponent eventually.

Did anyone watch the show which had some sports lab testing McGregor's physical attributes? Turns out he was quite the freak of nature. The lab had tested all sorts of elite athletes according to all sorts of parameters and he was acing most of the tests.

His balance was the best ever recorded (beating a world surfing champion) and the torque he generates with his hips also set new records (Rory Mcllroy the previous record holder!) They timed his jab and straight kick and the reaction times for both were in 0.2 seconds of each other. Daniel Cormier was holding the pads for this test and seemed genuinely shocked by the power he was generating. Obviously, it's all part of the UFC hype machine but he does seem to be unusually physically gifted. So much stronger and faster than most other fighters in his weight class.

Has a lovely elegant style too. Hard to imagine any fight he's involved in being dull.

The likes of Brandao and Siver aren't anywhere near the level of Aldo though.

McGregor will need a flash KO finish IMO otherwise Aldo wins this fight every single time. Even with that said though, the build and fight itself is going to be immense.

I wouldn't be to sure about that. Aldo has poor cardio and fades in every fight. Mcgregor is very tall and long for the division and he uses his reach excellently. I really expect Mcgregor to beat Aldo.

You'll be in for a big surprise then.

Aldo has gone five rounds on six occasions and won every single one of them. McGregor has been to a three round decision one single time in his career. Aldo is a nightmare match up for McGregor (outside of a top class wrestler) and none of the opponents McGregor has beaten so far even come close to the level Aldo is performing at.

Stick with what I said, McGregor will need a KO to win this. I'd be shocked to see him beat Aldo in a five round decision. McGregor needs to improve his defence massively too, because Aldo has more speed and is lethal.

I think Aldo wins against McGregor in May. McGregor leaves himself far too open. McGregor goes on about how nobody has felt what's it's like to be hit like him, likewise he has never felt what it is like to be hit by anyone half as powerful as Aldo. For McGregor to win, I think he needs to be a lot more defensive. He won't be in the next fight, he's too cocky. If they have a rematch in a couple of years after McGregor smashes the likes of Mendes, Lentz and Lamas, then it could be a different story. Aldo is still young, but he is old when it comes to the amount of time he has spent fighting. You only have to look to the likes of Shogun to see a relatively young fighter burned out.

Anyway, there'll be serious hype for this fight. My missus said she'll come to Vegas if I want to go. I think I might.

Aldo will be a ridiculously tough test for McGregor but he's certainly on a high and looks as ready as he'll ever be. The guy fights with an aura that oozes confidence and respect. I certainly like his style. He's the type of fighter you either love
Or hate.

Cant believe Siver is 30ish. He has the mannerisms of a 60 year old.

Looking forward to Aldo ending this charade.

The most interesting thing about Aldo vs. McGregor for me now is that McGregor has gone out of his way to do something incredibly offensive to Aldo in person, and whilst Aldo may have been laughing and smiling in his face, I bet that affront will have stirred the hornet's nest and have Aldo put serious work into his training camp to batter seven bells out of McGregor.

What I'm saying is that McGregor is going to get the most amped up and tuned in Aldo he could face. It will be an immense feat should he go in there and hold his own, let alone win the fight. I think Aldo is really going to want to pulverize McGregor and put him in his place so I will be hugely impressed if he makes sure that doesn't happen win or lose.

McGregor looks wide open for a good striker with explosive forward movement to tag. This may be an illusion as we've yet to see what he's like when faced with someone whose movements he can't curtail, but from his fights thus far, he *appears* to leave his head way up there and it *looks* primed to be tagged by a better calibre of fighter than he's faced, but who knows?

McGregor's style and what he's about is still a bit of an enigma really. He has looked dominant and composed going forward and he's also controlled all his fights so far, but at the same time, he hasn't faced any of the top fighters in the division who have that bona fide rank and file in whatever their expertise is, so it's hard to say what he can or cannot do when or if pushed - it's a stratospheric leap to go from the likes of Siver to the top dog in the division, so we'll see if his skills take that leap with his mouth.

I like him, but he's either about to make a legend of himself or be totally humiliated, I feel.

Juicing will do that to you but he was perceived as a reasonably tough nut to crack before the fight. Siver isn't in the very top tier but as with all of McGregor's recent fights it's only after a dominant victory that people start talking about his opponents as chumps.

McGregor will strive against that old school, muay thai stance. Watching the Aldo/Mendes fight was shocking. Two of them, feet planted, exchanging blows, no movement, no defensive work, just bang for bang.

Conor has this, and he's going to shock the world. He's a special talent.

That seems to be McGregor's method. Get into his opponents head well before the fight to the point where they are half defeated by the time they step into the Octagon. That will definitely not work with Aldo.

Have to agree, Aldo is far too explosive for Mcgregor to keep his hands down and taunt, he will have to try and hurt Aldo early and dont give him time to get in to the fight

I think McGregor poses quite a few problems for Aldo, and is certainly the most powerful puncher he has faced. On the other hand, Aldo poses quite a problem for Conor too so I think this match up is intriguing as hell.

It's amazing how McGregor never looks tired though, not even a hint of breathing heavy. He threw a shit load at Siver in a short space of time, lots of spinning stuff, and it looked like he hadn't even started jogging yet.

McGregor seemed to have ridiculous reach advantage last night. I'd like to see how he fares against a top fighter with a comparable reach advantage to his.

But that's without receiving any damage or being outside his own pace/comfort zone. He gets a lot of chances to conserve energy with his range and movement.

It'll be interesting to see how he is in a back and forth contest or after taking a few proper shots to the body or head.

I still think he's an enigma that not much is known about...

How's his jaw? Can he take a punch? What's emotional and mental stability like when pushed outside of his comfort zone, etc, etc.

IT all remains to be seen.

its like when Dillashaw had to fight Barao... i was sure he was gonna beat the brazilian, because of what ive seen in his previous fights.

With McGregor kind of feel something similar, but not as sure as with TJ. I think he can win it, but im leaning more towards Aldo. (60/40 chances for him... something close). Would love if McGregor can win it though.

McGregor looked fantastic again. I love his style. Reminds me of Genki Sudo. Sooner or later he's gonna take someones head off with one of those kicks too. Probably not Aldo because he's a midget.

Can't wait to watch that fight though. Love them both and am not so sure that Aldo will walk him over like so many seem to think.

Every fighter McGregor faces you still hear about 50% of the UFC fans saying he'll get hammered yet he keeps knocking them out without getting, bruised, cut or even breaking a sweat. Mostly the doubters are the ones who hate him but he's that type of character you either love or hate, but if they are true fighting fans they should respect how extremely talented he is and stop posting nonsense the whole time.

Aldo deserves all the respect in the world for his time spent as no.1 and he is a terrific fighter but he is far from unbeatable.

The fight will go either two ways, McGregor will absolutely batter him and shock the world or he'll be too confident going into the fight and when he does that usual 'drop the guard taunt' Aldo will strike. He almost nearly caught a huge left from Siver whilst doing it last night.

Having said that though I think it will be the former of the two.

Yep it's obvious how seriously he dedicates himself to his training and that coupled with his unshakeable self belief makes him an incredibly tough prospect for anyone in the UFC to overcome. Aldo included.

Didn't think Conor was THAT impressive as people are stating considering that Siver looked like a scared shrimp that's there for the taking. He got hit with a few wild kicks and landed on his ass a couple of times. Aldo will be an echelon above that level and we'll see once and for all exactly how good Conor is.

Makes me laugh when people say "He got hit loads by so and so" as a reason to put down a fighter and yet on the other hand others will say "his chin hasn't been tested yet" to do likewise.

But yeah, Aldo is far and above the competition he's fought so far but the way he's despatched them all suggests he needs more of a test.

For me it was how open he looked and how he got caught by wild kicks. If Siver was on the level of Aldo, Mendes, Edgar etc. that would have caused Conor much more problems.

Well you could say he might tighten up against a better striker but that seems to be his style. I think he wants to invite people to aim at his chin to open up for the counter. Although as Anderson Silva can attest to, it can backfire spectacularly.

Speaking of which I'm really looking forward to Diaz vs Silva on the 31st. So many questions...

Mcgregor is a freak, he has the power and speed of a professional boxer, and at the same time can throw kicks, in a couple of years he will be unbeatable. José Aldo is probably a little bit to strong at the moment, and i don't think that Mcgregor is as ready as Weidman was.

I suppose that's the good thing about MMA as opposed to boxing. In boxing getting the title shot before you're ready can be detrimental to your career. You take a heavy beating and you could be out of the reckoning for a title shot for a long time. In the UFC one defeat mightn't set him back too far. If he makes a good fight of it, he'll likely get some other high profile fights before getting another shot at the title if he does go back to winning ways.

That said, he could always pull off a shock too. He'll be in optimum condition and ultra prepared, he's proven that already. His confidence is huge, but he adds bravado too. He won't leave anything to chance against Aldo because he is fully aware just how good he is and how much of a step up he is from anyone he's fought so far.

Great performance and I was warming to him, but I hope Aldo destroys him for all this clowning.

Tbf, this kind of stuff is very likely set up to add more hype.
Oh, I'm not denying that at all. The guy is very smart, he knows what he's doing. A big part of his quick rise to the top is due to these things he does and says. I can live with a bit of arrogance as this is the ultimate macho sport but clowning around like this will make the more neutral viewer root more for his opponent than him. Of course he won't give a shit as it will only make the fight more exciting and his purse bigger.
