What a terrific event

Dana will be delighted how the fox sports debut went I reckon.

Delighted that Travis and Chael won.

Quality card, quite a few fights going the opposite to what I expected.

You could see Reem had lost the fight the moment had failed to finish Travis with that mental assault. Completely drained every bit of energy out of himself like an absolute idiot and was fecking knackered straight after. The guy is an animal but he'll continue going down the same old route unless he learns to fight smarter.

30-25 in the Johnson fight? How the feck are people like this actually judging fights?

Am I the only one who thought the Overeem was stopped just a bit early? I'm not a fan of Overeem at all but he gets kicked in the face, stumbles back, loses his balance and falls over. He didn't go completely limp, then Browne hits him with two hammerfists and was going for a third one but Yamasaki stops him. But Overeem had started to bring his hands up to his head as if to defend himself so I would have liked just to see maybe a few more seconds, seeing as Browne took a shitload of punishment that went unanswered in the same fight.

No one else is complaining about it so it's obviously just me.

Gets hit twice, puts his arms up to cover his face but the ref stops it. And then he stands up almost immediately. I can see why it was stopped though so not saying it was a bad call, just that he actually wasn't unconscious and since Browne got the benefit then Overeem should have been given a bit of leeway too.

No I thought it was way too early. I thought Browne would have finished it anyway, but that's not the point. Overeem was given no time to defend, compared to Browne who was given as much time as he wanted.

If you send us a link I'll have a look, but I don't watch enough of the undercards to have a broad enough knowledge of the sport. Tends to primarily be main events unless I've heard a particular fight was worth watching.

Wanderlei's fights with Rampage were class. The Brian Stann one was outstanding also. He has loads of great fights.

I love Wand, I have on USB somewhere almost single fight of his in Pride. Here are some of my favourites

Wanderlei vs Mark Hunt

Vs Mirko Cro Cop

His fight against Chuck Liddell is fecking amazing too. Oh and the Dan Henderson one. Basically nearly all of them are exciting.

Well that would surely put an end to any hope of a UFC Dublin next year, unless he can get back fit. It will take him 9 months to recover, and then he has to get fit for a fight. I'm not sure he can do it in time. He thinks he can though.

I couldn't see a UFC Dublin without him. He'd make them millions.

It makes his win against Holloway even more impressive.

Holy shit.

I guess the question would be: could he do the same to Sonnen? Looking at his recent record of 7 losses out of 11, my instinct would say no. But hell, if Dana White thinks he could get them together.

Also explains the 3rd round In his fight. If anything the injury totally enhances his performance.

He has come out during the week and insulted pretty much every ranked featherweight rival (even Aldo and Edgar).... Really hope he doesn't end up looking a clown.

I love UFC but must say following him now almost feels like supporting a team in football. I am desperate for him to succeed,

I for one do not believe that either Sonnen or Silva are expressing genuine feelings of disdain for each other.

Would still be a good fight, though.

Would it though? I'm asking cos I bet you're more into your MMA than I am; I just imagine Silva being blown away by a more tactically proficient and fitter Sonnen, and the fight being a bit of a damp squib.

I think Sonnen would win. I think he'd take him down early in each round and look for a submission or ground and pound. He'd have to take him down early though because Silva is so good on his feet and can knock anyone out.

Sonnen knows how to hype fights. That's why he is the highest paid fighter.

Seriously? I mean, he's the biggest talked I know of, but I'd be surprised to hear that his fights draw more people in than the likes of Silva, Jones, GSP etc.

Could he avoid being taken down early though? I guess that's the question. Having seen those videos you showed me, I'd love to see that Silva in a ring with Sonnen, but at his age I'd be surprised if he made a fight out of it.

Time will tell I guess though, because I imagine they'll get together.

Silva's takedown defense is weak and Sonnen will lay & prey for a decision. Also, Silva & Shogun have lost an advantage in the UFC due to unified rules. Stomps, knees to the grounded opponent are illegal in UFC but legal in Pride. Furthermore, Sonnen is on TRT, which is pretty much legalized cheating. Helps him train like 25 year old while 36.

So honestly, don't think Silva has much of chance unless Sonnen wants to trade which he won't.

Nah, Sonnen just likes to wind up people in general. And Silva is trying to get a good PPV cut from Dana from doing his own hyping. Most fights are all hype anyways. Only the Lesnar - Mir fight had some genuine bad blood, Mir said in an interview that he wishes Brock gets killed in the Octogon.

Yeah, that's probably the most likely outcome, I have to admit. I don't know how into MMA I am, I've gone back and watched the last three years of UFC fights, the main cards anyway, but there's a lot I haven't seen, like Wanderlei in his prime.

But the Wanderlei fights I have seen have been very entertaining, so I have hope.

For anyone who is interested and hasn't entered, we set up a Redcafe ESPN UFC Fantasy League. The League PIN: 34265.

http://espnuk.fantasyleague.com/

Checked it out but the layout of the site is fecked, is that just my end? Their top bar overruns the graphic of the fighters on that front page and it does it throughout when signing up and picking fighters. Also for the life of me cant find where to join the league? Picked my fighters for the next card, clicked continue and it just kept refreshing the same page. Not sure if it's the site or my end.

Heads up for anybody who forgot that UFC FN 27 is tomorrow night. There's a small preview show at 21:30 and then the prelims start at 23:00 with the main show starting at 1am.

I had to block that top bar with an adblocker.

It won't let you go forward because under it is either a team naming bar or one to pick your captain, can't remember which right now.

This Condit-Kampmann card should be a lot of fun! Not a lot of huge names on it but looking forward to seeing some fighters again.

The guy from TUF Smashes, Robert Whittaker, he looked great in his last fight. Stands in that Philly shell boxing style which is pretty cool. Then Brian Melancon looked beastly in his last fight, wicked left hook. Erik Perez seems pretty exciting too, has been on the war path since joining the UFC.

Honestly not sure who most of them are. Which is in a way an advantage, no expectations.

Yea that's understandable. But I am an obsessed retard, not afraid to admit that, so I basically watch everything . I even watch the weigh- ins ffs. Nothing even happens except guys, standing on a scale and then squaring off. Then there is me watching it like some weird, mma gaytard.

Yeah, got him on my team too.

The main event is very hard to predict, I'm pretty sure it will go to a decision. Looking forward to Brad Tavares vs the TUF dude that was so overhyped. Got Tavares as my champion in the fantasy league, was going to go for him or Court McGee.
