The MMA thread

Absolutely but lets not take the blame away from Yan, what a stupid shot and very intentional.
Oh for real, it’s a bad mistake for a rookie nevermind a world champ. Totally unnecessary as well as he clearly had the momentum

Im friends with his head coach for this fight. Hes a boxer. I just hope this wasnt a case of not knowing the rules.

Doesn't justify it at all. I mean, months of prep for a fight but the champ doesnt bother about reading the rules? :wenger:

It’s a deserved DQ.

People thinking Sterling was acting should try to feel what a knee is like flush in the face. If he was standing it would be have a ko win, without question. Why was Yan asking his corner if ok? Bullshit he knows the rules.

That ending was strangely satisfying. Cheater got what he deserved.
How was he cheating? Catch a grip. We was getting advice from his corner all fight when Aljo was down and now it’s been confirmed by Khabib that he was told to kick. It’s a bad call from his team. Yan is usually very calm and has an excellent fight iq.

I think we can safely say Yan is the best in the division (outside of possibly Cejudo) but an absolute idiot that deserved to lose his belt.

Not knowing the rules? Everyone in this thread knows the rules
It’s different when you’re in a high pressure environment and you get coached by your micro coached from your corner. The team are always shouting institutions at all fighters.

From Sterling’s POV, shit way to win. 100% disqualification though - as illegal as they come.

Sandhagen is probably just as disappointed as both fighters.

Im no fighter. Does it really work like that?

So if andersons corner now says to pull a gun and shoot amanda then its the corners fault? Cmon

Exactly this. He would have been mad to continue. The knee was flush and he wasn’t expecting it at all. It was horrible to watch on the replay.

There is no way continuing would have been the right decision. It would have been dangerous. He is almost definitely concussed.

Not cheating at all but bad corner advice and own fight IQ. If Khabib was in his corner then shame on him.

Yes it works like that. Fighters get coached when they’re fighting, and fighters listen. It was a stupid, illegal thing to do but Yan had no reason to do it as he was clearly the better fighter.

Just do we are clear Sterling did nothing wrong. No way to come back to a fight after 5 minutes to that knee.

Apparently its been picked up that the corner said only hands, he wasnt told to kick.
Khabib talking shit like a schoolgirl

Khabib wasn’t in his corner but they’re all Russian and they must have spoken.

Yan was coached at all times while Aljo was on the ground and again this time he was told to kick him. Yan will be livid with himself and with his team.

Khabib isn't in his corner (pretty sure), he's sat ringside and speaks Russian so understood what they were saying and informed DC.

I’m only going of off what DC and Rogan said. I don’t know but I speak Russian and heard Yans corner shouting for him to let Sterling up when he was down after a couple of trips. He was definitely getting advice on what to do. Either way it’s a horrible end to what should have been a masterclass from Yan. It’s stupid all around.

@Paxi @justboy68 thank god for that, I'm sure he'd never give such stupid advice in a fight Yan was clearly winning, Anyway no harm Yan will win the belt back in the rematch anyway, the idiot.

What a predictable waste of time that was...

She looked terrified. Wasn’t a good fight at all. No chance

Must be so disheartening just getting ravaged like that.
