Bang! Nice header by Boyd. His second headed goal in his first two games.

Goal of the season.

Good second half from Portland. If they can improve on the road this'll be a great season.

Just got back from the game. Great crowd. Great 2nd half. Hopefully nobody realizes what a talent Kalif Alhassan is. When he gets the ball, good things happen. Assist and a goal. The rub on him is that he might be a bit lazy. He mostly needs to be given the ball as he doesn't win it himself so much. Charra has been a bit of a letdown so I'd love to see Alhassan moved to the middle, the crafty bugger.

My US team, DC, got trounced. The issue is we have a second-year defensive midfielder who barely played there last season as he played RB and CB for most of it. And we partner him with a player who is supposed to be the creative catalyst, but someone who can't pass ten yards in front. And he's a DP.

Couple that with a piss poor showing from DeRo and we were doomed five minutes in. We're lucky the score wasn't worse.

Rough game from your lot. I was in town and went back to sit with BB. Your right, Kitchen and Boskovic were dire. Salif and DeRo should have figured out that at least one of them needed to drop back to help the mids, but they just hung out doing nothing up front. On the plus side though, the defense looked good (even Jakovic), and the keeper is quality. If Najar and Russell can figure out how to work together, you will wind up with perhaps the best right side in the league.

Will LA Galaxy win tonight?

I want to spend my winnings at 2am on shit American 'soccer' NOW!!!

Dallas bossed timbers in the first half, but timbers took over in the 2nd. 1-1. Timbers unlucky not to win in the end. Good to see them not lose away from home especially given what Dallas did to us down there last time.

Boyd still not particularly good at anything except shooting and heading, but that will do nicely for now. The guy can't yet complete a pass, but he can hammer that thing at goal. No understanding with Perlaza yet.

58,912 at the Montreal Impact - Chicago game last night. I record for an MLS game.

3-0 home to New England last night. Really liking how Sporting look.

Sapong, Kamara and Bunbury is a pretty exciting (and young) attack.

I went though the TV schedule last night and put all of the national broadcast games into my phone calendar. I don't have Fox Soccer at my apartment so I always missed everything except the ESPN/ESPN2 games, but now that it's on NBC Sports/Versus, I'm pretty excited I'll get to see a lot more MLS.

I predict they will steal Alhassan from us after he plays a blinder against them. Crap.

Doubt Spenny will play a very strong side, there's a ton of games in a short space of time. You heard owt about Spurs coming Brad...?

I'll be there fo-sho. I think tickets go on sale next friday, 3/30.

Me too. It's covered by the Exhibition B season tix. Should be a cracker, though we've got games 3 days before and 3 days after.

Aston Villa are coming to Portland and Chelsea are going up to Seattle.

I think I'll head up to Seattle in the summer to sing 'Viva John Terry'!

I wouldn't take my missus if I were you.

Also, I'm trying to convince my friend to road trip from NC to Portland for a Timbers game. Mostly because I want to drive across the US at some point. A Timbers game, plus the array of beer in the area, are just added motivation.

Looking forward to Villa coming over although they're not high on my list of teams I'd want to see out here. I'd like to see Newcastle come over.

Talk about a sucker punch, last night's exit from the Olympics was probably the first time I'd felt literally sick from a football match.

Other results meant if we won the match, we'd win the group. Anything less and we'd be out. From 1-0 up to 1-2 down to 3-2 up and on the way through to the semifinals and likely the Olympics, El Salvador equalized for 3-3 at 94:15 or so when 4 minutes were added after a dreadful goalkeeping blunder and the US were knocked out.

Gutted for our young players, who seem to be much more talented than the last group who made it to the 2008 Olympics. Terrence Boyd looks like the real deal.

Reunited and it feels so good...

That was a brutal loss for sure. Boyd looks pretty good to me, but there were times when I thought he looked really slow. Still I think there are quite a few players from this team that will go on to contribute to the full team over the next 2-3 years.

Did you get the weird poll notice from the Timbers?
