Not sure if I'll bother with this tourney.

Looking forward to getting the season going though. I'd like to hope the PT at least make the playoffs this season. Capitolise on homefield advantage but they'll need to do better away from home.

DC United sign Hamdi Salihi as a designated player, an Albanian international who had most recently played for Rapid Vienna in Austria.

The preseason tournament between Timbers, AIK, Chivas, and San Jose is going to be tasty. 6 games here in Portland in 3 days has me missing some work. Can't wait for some live footy again.

Can't say much about the new Portland acquisitions. 2 new designated players. One a kid from Columbia, and the other Kris Boyd, all time highest scorer in the SPL. Don't know much about the draft picks either.

Any comments on any of your sides' off season deals?

It's Colombia with two o's :D Has he even played yet? I read that he wasn't training due to health reasons but rumors claimed it was drug related. Any news?

Oh FFS I knew that, but I guess my fingers don't

On a related fecking note, that kid, Jose Adolfo Valencia, our new young designated player, is out for the next 6-12 months! Knee fecking surgery.

It's gonna be a great season.

CONCACAF Champions League tomorrow, Toronto vs La Glaxy tomorrow, what time will it be on in the UK? 8pm US Eastern, but I can never work out how to convert that.

Not that I will be able to watch it anyway but there is always a chance

Awesome that's quite early, would be over now.

Good ol' Coursework.

MLS viewers, what do you guys think of Soony Saad? there's talk that he is going to represent Lebanon internationally, and i am wondering if some of you might give me some info on him?

Boyd scored on his debut on Sunday night in a friendly against AIK of Sweden. There's a lot of expectation on Boyd doing the business from the fans. I hope he lives up to it.

There was around 17k at the game. Great for a preseason friendly.

Home opener on Monday against Philly.

I've heard a few good things about him. People are generally excited.

However, I haven't read any reports, at least in the US media or MLS, that link him with Lebanon. Only that he wants to play for the US.

I think if he does have the skill for the US, it will be difficult for him to turn down the chance of WC games every four years. He's played on the US u20 team, but doesn't have a chance for the Olympics.

To those who follow this league, what's your impression of Emmanuel Ekpo? He is one of Solskjær's new signings.

Will the Regular Season lose some gloss now its no longer a balanced schedule? Could the Champions League and the Open Cup get a boost as a result?

Good start for Sporting. 1-0 away to DC. goal came in the 93rd minute.

I went to the DC home opener as I was in town. DC looked awful. The DC forwards got no service, and didn't know what to do with the few scraps that they did get.

You're right though. KC looked good. Your #23 is a monster. Very assured on the ball and seemed to do pretty much what he wanted. Gonna be a good year for your bunch I expect.

Did you get a ticket? I'll not know till about 3 if I'm going to make it.

My US team, DC, got trounced. The issue is we have a second-year defensive midfielder who barely played there last season as he played RB and CB for most of it. And we partner him with a player who is supposed to be the creative catalyst, but someone who can't pass ten yards in front. And he's a DP.

Couple that with a piss poor showing from DeRo and we were doomed five minutes in. We're lucky the score wasn't worse.

I'm watching at home, my seat is in that corner that's uncovered. The season opener last year was a soaker too.

Until there's new team in the southeast sometime soon, I'm pretty sure I'll just be a Timbers fan. Their fans are awesome. Philadelphia's are too, but Philly fans are assholes.

Same.

Although I like the Sounders, too. As stupid as that is. I guess it's like cheering for United and Liverpool (on a smaller scale).

Soft pen shout.

See where that clock is in the right side corner, that's where I usually stand. Still haven't sat in my seat yet.

Awful decision there. Should have put it left rather than taking a poor shot.

Adu has played some nice stuff so far. He seems to be the only Union player with a brain in the final third. Danny Califf still looks like a twat.
