The Manchester Title Race

I think it's coming down to the final day and it scares me becuase if its a case of goal difference, there's no way we can win that particular battle from here.

In reality a lot would have to go wrong for this to happen but I'm mentally preparing for it anyway ;)

Like how?!! It's like mentally preparing for the tsunami to come attacking you but how? Just the thought of it will make you go mental.... To know that it is a MUST WIN game on the final day and it's a matter of goal difference too is just too much to bear. It's not going to happen my friend!

If I put down on here the worst case scenario I'm hoping it won't happen. Coz this kinda shit works...or doesn't work. Now I'm confused.

We all know it's futile trying to predict the results and the implications but we can't help but do it.... Hopefully the players are sticking to that tired old mantra...

One game at a time.

And to see how calm SAF has been in the run up almost gives me such comfort which seems so unreal. I would be spending the rest of April not knowing each game is a title decider or not... it's terrifying.

I truly believe though SAF is confident! Keep the faith.

TBH, if the end result had to be we were second, I would rather the worst case scenario never happens. It's the "so so close yet so far" thing that would ruin my summer altogether. I am not sure I can take it.

Yes... it's kind of his job I think! All the fans will over analyse and try to predict the future and get nervy... or some will overstate our position and be positively certain that we'll batter City in the derby... fortunately we fans have only a minimal influence on the outcome of football matches (through the backing we give to the team at the matches)... it's the mindset of the players and the manager that is important and they will have put Wigan behind them and be concentrating on Villa by now.. and not be concerning themselves with Everton, City, Swansea or Sunderland.

Is it wrong that I'm a bit worried after the Wigan game. I'm not usually a pessimist - I've seen United have plenty of blips over the years, some seasons it was all blips - its just that they had such a good win on Wednesday, and they play first today , that I have these niggling doubts......

As SAF has said, at United 2 losses in a row is a crisis. If we lose, he puts it to the players to respond, and we have a great record of doing that. But from the supporter perspective, who is unable to effect results, it's all about the last result. It's quite hilarious to see how the media narrative changes entirely on one result every week, and almost as funny to see people on here overreacting after a bad game.

Not that you're one of the doom merchants. I always get a little nervous after a loss, momentum is either going up or down, it's toxic to feel that things are getting worse not better.

Of course our standards are so ridiculously high, most teams are happy to win as many as they lose.

its villa.....

playing against United whom teams have an awful habit of game raising against, and Villa have had some good results against United recently.
There are no easy games now.

We must go out and hit them hard and fast.

I do think city will win today. Although Norwich are a great team and will give them a good game, I do think their win against West Brom and our loss will inspire them. Tevez scored and they probably feel more confident, especially as it seems Toure might play. So it will up to us against Villa....

I'm not usually pessimistic either, however its the pure nature of the way we played so badly that concerns me. We really were awful against Wigan.

Still....we are in a brilliant position and if we did blow it, then it really would be the biggest collapse the Premier league has seen.....

I don't think I could bear the gloating

I just put £20 on City beating Norwich. That should do the trick.

We gloat plenty enough!

Have faith in SAF and the culture and ethics of the club.

As he said, we were literally dreaming of being in this position as little as 6 weeks ago.

We will bounce back.

Ive always tried not to, personally. Speaking of gloating , after the 6-1 defeat I had the misfortune to run into a city fan who lives reasonably near , when I was out with the dogs. He was with this horrible creature of a wife, who, when she heard me shouting " Keano " started to talk about the 6-1 . I'm really not sure how I kept my temper tbh, she was so bad. If I hadn't liked dogs so much, I would have let my Keano attack their dog ( kippax, poor thing )
Let's just say if we lose now, I won't be going into the fields any time soon.

City 2-0 up at Norwich. I honestly thought this would be a tough game for them and they'd drop points. Well we have no room for error in our two home games before the Derby now.

No we really don't, professionalism is key.

It's becoming clear that we must probably get something out of the clash against city.

2-0 at the moment. I thought Norwich would prove to be tough for City, but ultimately I have City down to win as they'd have more confidence after the midweek results.

But then I have us to win tomorrow, which would put it back to 5 points.

Must say, I quite like the tension and the fact that we haven't got it in the bag already - will make the last few matches very exciting.

Granted we do end up with the title.

Would prefer a boring in the bag run in to be honest.

Im feeling very nervous now even though I knew they would beat Norwich today.

City look a completely different team. Much better when they start with 2 up front.

Personally I'd have been up for a dull, early but successful end to the season. But clearly that's not on the menu anymore.

City playing without pressure. Fair play to them.

No matter. By tomorrow we'll be feeling their hot, halitosis-ridden breath on our necks, hopefully that'll jolt us out of any residual complacency.

I wonder how O'Shea, Brown, Bardsley and Richardson will feel if we have a 2 point lead going in to the Sunderland game.

I would be desperate for United to win the game and league. Can't be easy knowing they can help city to the title.

Why? All we have to do to win the title is beat Sunderland away, and Villa, Everton and Swansea at home. If City don't win at Newcastle, and only two teams have won there all season, then it's less. We are favourites regardless of the result at Eastlands.

Confident about Villa and Swansea at home, Villa got a lot of injuries and can't see Swansea getting a result.

Everton at home and Sunderland away though :nervous:

Next 2 games going to be crucial...have a feeling Everton going to be a problem for us.

 tevez pointing to the crowd after scoring... jesus christ what a farcical club.

Yep, I am feeling very negative right now. Worried about our 2 home games coming up.

I'm not worried about Villa tomorrow... they're a poor side and we should be fine.

Dreading next weekend against Everton though... we seemingly never have an easy ride against them.

I too am feeling very negative right now though. If there was ever a league title to throw away...

From 8 points to 2. The pressure is now on us. If we don't win the next one...

But it's at OT and we will win that one even if we're 2 down with 20 minutes to go.

Often a club like everton who have nothing else to fight for and if they reach the cup final may switch off for their remaining league games.

Wish people would stop being so negative about our own team. It's not like we have a great manager and team that has been there and done it.

We don't even have to play 2 games a week now so Scholes can start every game as well.
