The Make A Fecking Sub Ole Thread

I wish someone would ask him why he refuses to make any changes. It’s really frustrating that players are doing so little & there’s no danger they’ll be taken off. It’s even worse when some players are exhausted & need to be taken off for fresh legs, but nothing.

Today, James was so ineffective, why not try Amad? It couldn’t be any worse & after scoring mid-week, his confidence would be high.

Rashford just back from an injury. Big game away in Europe coming up. Not even one sub.

He really needed to make a sub today - and he bottled it. Very disappointing from Ole, once again. He's ineffective from the sidelines.
We won the match, so he didn't bottle anything. He should have made a sub, especially with thursday in mind and some of the bad performances.

Who the feck are you bringing on off that bench? Matic maybe.

Depleted squad, 1-0, can’t just throw on anyone for the sake of it.

I think this is why we have some terrible runs of form. The likes of Bruno and Rashford are basically exhausted.

People complaining Ole not making subs are baffling...
We have no one on the bench to impact positively the game. If we make a defensive change we are inviting pressure by not keeping the ball high on the pitch. That is what happened against Everton.
Ole was right tonight.

Why not? A fresh 6/10 player is surely better than a knackered 8/10.

If only you could make 5 subs eh :wenger:
don’t attack me I’m suffering enough

Bruno and Rashford were fecked at the end there, they defo should have came off. We need to start managing them a lot better because they’re the difference between finishing top 4 and not.

No obvious subs to make tonight, James works tirelessly so what do you do? Take him off for an inexperienced Amad who might not track a runner and it lead to an equaliser? Take off an attacker for an extra defender or Matic and hand the initiative to West Ham?

You have to keep your best goal scorers on to try and get a 2nd

He's inevitably going to get players injured, Rashford just came back from injury lets play him for the full 90 minutes.

No subs and rightly so. We were in control. We had nothing on the bench.

If we'd made subs on the hour mark, we'd have scored one or two more. We were totally in control and they just got fresh legs whereas we didn't, which is what let them back into it.

It's obviously a conscious decision Ole's made and I'm sure he's got his reasons but christ I'd like to know what they are.

I'm very curious to understand how exactly someone would 'bottle' making a sub

Besides Amad, there was nobody on the bench. The people who want subs will moan when Matic comes on. Thankfully he didn’t make a sub in stoppage time too.

What difference is taking them off ten minutes earlier going to make?
Players will inform the bench if they can't go on.

Conpletely agree. Tonight he made the right call. You could argue about subbing Amad for James but although James was poor offensively he was very good defensively recovering balls etc. Rashford Mctominay and Fernandes were the ones needing to be subbed but that would invite pressure.

True, in fairness. Amad should have really come on for James though, he wasn't offering a whole lot on the right.

 It is quite funny how the three biggest complainers at the time, Klopp, Pep and Ole basically rarely use their full complement of subs.

Also did you say 5 :smirk:
Would make a joke about Man City’s incoming 5th PL title but I prefer the red side anyways

James was doing a job on Cresswell.

Glad he didn't sub tonight. Felt very finely balanced on a knife-edge.

So close to an international break and out of this ludcrious game every 3 days shite. Feels fecking stupid to have international breaks in this season anyway, for logistics and fatigue reasons... Everyones going to be fecked come the summer.

Our season doesn't end here. We've suffered due to players being run into the ground before, and the squad is barely standing going into the most crucial period of the season. Most importantly we've dropped many points before thanks to this very reluctance - this thread exists for a reason, you should scroll down from page one.

We could have had another goal to kill things off on the counter if James weren't on the pitch to mess up the attacks. We might have won a corner, a penalty, a free kick - anything - if we had a dribbler going into the box in the last half an hour. At least run the fecking clock down with a sub - on another day the ref gives that corner and we concede. On another day, Rashford goes down injured. Or worse, Bruno does. Again, we have done that before.

Of course Ole bottled it today with the subs. He has a lot to learn compared to his peers when it comes to in-game management.

Doesn't trust his bench. Fair enough, but when some of our key players look dead on their feet its a bit risky.

Bringing on Matic would be like bringing on a player that's run non stop for 90 minutes anyway. Amad should have come on though.

It's a vicious circle, we get injuries because he's running them into the ground, and now we have a thin bench because of these injuries.

If only he would make subs before 88th minute earlier on in the season, our injury list probably wouldn't be as bad.

Make subs Ole.

Today was not the day

1-0 important game against a experienced and disciplined team
No experiments get the points move on

wouldn’t of changed a thing

I agree with what Ole did today.

I think if its 1-1 we make a substitute, however we were ahead and the game was tight and James was starting to look a bit of a threat on the counter.

He didn’t want to upset the apple cart.

I think it’s fair he didn’t bring on any subs this time around, all things considered.

Aye. I've bumped this thread before but it's a weird criticism today. The only sub that would have made sense is Matic for McTominay because of the yellow card.

Everyone clamouring for Amad to come on for James but how much do they really know about Amad? feck all no doubt. Besides, James was doing a good job on Creswell.
