The leaks against the manager 2023 edition

I don't think I've ever seen Luckhurst tweet when we're in a good spell. Half of these leaks are bs and we as fans are equally culpable for believing them.

Maybe it would be more productive if some of these journalist wrote articles about the fans being unhappy instead of these spoilt players.
That would require real journalism and take time. Why do that when you can make a killing off a global angry fanbase who don't question anything?

He definitely has an agenda. As someone said David Meek to him. What a comedown in quality.

Sources, sources, sources I'm convinced 99.99999% of this crap is fantasy.

At this stage if there is a leaker it is probably MR.
Nothing to base that on, but if I had to guess, that's who I'd pick.

And the masses of Youtubers peddle it out as facts, feck em all, shite stirring cnuts trying to make a few sheckles to get clicks....

Also Marcus plays regardless of form so why would he complain about favouritism?

Media pressure another attempt to destabilise the club so more opinion pieces can be written for clicks about how United are X Y Z.

I would rather we get knocked out of everything and let Ten Hag coach for another 12 months before making any kind of decision as to his possible impact.

If that Luckhurst stuff is remotely true then that's it. He'll be gone in a week or two.

i heard that ten hag loves punishing the players and it’s actually him leaking all this stuff to the press. then when the players come into training the next day he’s all “well well well, looks like there’s still a piece of shit in my dressing room.”

There is a running theme since SAF left with the media stories allegedly from the players. They're constantly blaming the methods of each manager in that they're too hard, not enough relaxing time. You can also see this translating to the pitch where it always seems like the other team works harder.

We're in the minority

No? Because go back 12 months and all you had was “Most likeable squad we’ve had since SAF”

fans opinion is up and down more than the players form.

You forget that collectively we want to believe, so it's just the madness of optimism. When we see the team playing well for a month we have such enormous gratitude that we become poets and not logicians.

Sammel running articles you can be certain 99.99999% of it is made up nonsense.

Suspect a huge amount of these stories are made up guesswork. It makes sense there will be some unhappy players in the camp - same at nearly every club.

How is anyone going to prove it untrue, unless every player came out and made a statement saying they ARE happy with the manager.

Its the same level of 'journalism' as those who write crap like - "sources understand that the club may be considering a move for X". Impossible to disprove

"sources" within the squad indicate Marcus Rashford is considering having a curry for tea......

Yeah clearly thought that training camp was a holiday rather than preparation for the season
They want the manager to just say, go out an enjoy yourselves.
It’s absolutely infuriating. But don’t worry, a new manager will be appointed, they will smile and show 2-3 months of good form and all will be forgiven/forgotten until they throw the next guy under the bus as well. Rinse, repeat.

Can't make this up. I thought the leaks were Lingard/Pogba/De Gea/Ronaldo.

Are these not totally fair criticisms? We've seen him do most of this stuff with our very own eyes, it's not how you get people to follow your message. It's all very "it puts the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again".

I know it's not the same players today as when all our previous managers were in charge, but this group we have today is infected by the toxic, cowardly culture which is deeply ingrained in our dressing room.

You can totally make it up. In fact it probably all is. Sources say some players are unhappy at the lack of movement on the sale of the club. Yeah no shit. These stories are probably complete fabrications, they just use the most obvious talking points then say “sources close to the club” or some other vague bullshit. Gotta keep those clicks coming though.

Sancho aside (and I'm aware you're not one of his fanboys :)), who are the ones who both feel aggrieved and have close relations with the press?

Rashford is obviously in the latter camp, but I can't see why he should feel he's been treated unfairly; it's not like he hardly ever plays. Maguire might be a bit of a berk but his recent conduct has been that of a decent and committed professional. Shaw would be playing if he wasn't injured. Who then? Mount?

Well there's no real evidence that Rashford is one of those, people on here talk about him like it's a fact because he was mates with Lingard and Sancho, despite not being seen with them outside of footballing circumstances for years. There's a pretty strong rumour at the moment Varane has fallen out with him, Casemiro is playing like a man who couldn't be fecked what the manager thinks, Maguire and McTomminay are constantly rounded on by the manager until he needs them. Maybe it's agents who speak to their players often and they're putting word out now to protect their clients? Maybe it's players who have left like De Gea who still speaks to lads at the club? Could be staff? There's many options, it doesn't just have to be a couple of players.

I disagree. I think footballers are footballers, or even more so - humans are humans. Similar compaints tend to come out in different types of workplaces.

Our player's attitudes aren't the cause of our issues. They just manifest themselves like that when thing go badly and they always go badly - with totally different squads and managers - because United as a club has lost its way.

Spot on. That's exactly why 'leaks' like this only appear when a team is in bad form. The fanbase are angry and when people are angry they lose their head.

Yes I agree. I'm no great Rashy fanboy, but the evil deeds he gets accused of by some on here are just weird.

Any idea why? Because he's expected to play the occasional game of football? We really are paying the price for making ourselves a retirement home.

Casemiro is playing like a man who couldn't be fecked what the manager thinks, Maguire and McTomminay are constantly rounded on by the manager until he needs them.
Maguire (or more likely his family) maybe, though he seems happy and confident enough right now. Happier than he's looked for ages, in fact. And I don't remember ETH ever saying anything critical of McT; lots of people have criticised him for what they see as unmerited praise.

Of course the moaning might not be recent. Journalists have a tendency to file away quotes etc. and trawl them up on occasions when they'll have the greatest impact.

Maybe it's agents who speak to their players often and they're putting word out now to protect their clients?
Very likely. More so with foreign players who are unlikely to have close ties to British journalists.

Maybe it's players who have left like De Gea who still speaks to lads at the club?
Maybe; that all depends on whether the malcontents are friendly with them.

Could be staff? There's many options, it doesn't just have to be a couple of players.
Could well be. I imagine a lot of people at United are fearful of what the future might hold in the event of a change in control. Even ones that are inevitably going to get big payouts. If Arnold and Murtough fear for their jobs they've going to struggle to motivate those below them.

The culture is make money and the football doesnt really matter.

For the players it's make money and protect your brand when the fans start calling you out by shifting it onto the manager.

Yeah absolutely nailed it

In today's news/leaks. Seems like a slow news day

"Man United players 'are questioning Erik ten Hag's treatment of Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho' after he ruthlessly stripped captain of the armband and exiled £73m star"
