Gaming The Last Of Us

Well, they've just announced their first director. It's the guy who recently worked on Chernobyl. And if they going to move forward with this whole thing, I think a TV show is a way to go personally. I think it's a good medium for this particular story.

You seem to be having some issues with the gameplay. Personally I didn't mind the gameplay, but it has been a few years since I played it. I played it once on the PS3 then bought the remastered on the PS4 and played it again. So that was about 5 or 6 years ago. Which in gaming terms if a lifetime when you consider how fast things change. I would say that stealth it the way to go. While guns can obviously be used, I would often choose to stab an enemy and sneak up on them if possible. The game is obviously designed not to be your typical 3rd person shooter where you can just blast enemies away with abandon. That's not to excuse the gameplay because it probably doesn't hold up to be fair, especially when you compare it to more modern games.

But I liked the crafting system and creating traps, etc, which I found worked well for taking out most enemies. But yeah, the characters and the story is obviously the main draw here. The gameplay in the sequel is supposed to be very good though from what I've been reading.

Yeah the crafting isn't bad once you unlock most things and can find the stuff.

The things I dislike probably aren't major but they all add up to an unenjoyable experience for the first 3-4 hours I'd say.

Moving rafts / bins is some horrible control methods.
Melee, 50/50 if you get the first shot in, hard to time correctly imo.
Lynched too easily if you get jumped by one, there is another 2 on you in seconds and no way to switch which enemy you're going for easily.
Weapons are meh too, headshots don't seem to register often. 4 bullets to take down one human? Get to shit.

Probably a problem with a lot of games, I've probably been a bit unfair with it as it's old and should be expected.

Enjoying it much more now, expect to finish it this time around.
Their noisiness still annoys me. Constantly think someone is gonna hear me but weirdly they dont

Ok, completed it, still got the DLC to go but... Uhhh what?

Just as it was getting going it ended

It was a decent enough story, but nothing groundbreaking imo. Expectations were probably way too high after the praise it got. I should have played it when it originally came out.

Enjoyed it in the end though, the first 25% of the game was a drag. I'd probably wait an buy the 2nd at a price drop, but because it's so close I might just pick it up while this is in my memory and avoid it being spoiled for me.

Not sure about the DLC either, not much gameplay really. However I liked being able to pit the infected against the bad guys, made for some fun.

Was the DLC planned before release? As it is what explains her being "off" after the certain point in main story.

Also, does it mean there are more like Ellie? Sure when I listened to a recording he said he was bitten but hadn't turned? Which makes Joels lie, actually true? Edit: just read up on this part and seems it's because his arm was amputated.

Finally finished this in preparation for the new one.

Was great and did really enjoy it in the end, especially after the section with Sam & Henry, although I’d say not quite as amazing as the hype made it soon.

Still, excited to play 2 with the rest of you chumps now, should be arriving Monday.

Finally got around to this. Just finished it, ending was a bit abrupt, but a wonderful gaming experience. Really did like the relationship between Joel and Ellie.

Will get the DLC done then move onto TLOU2.

I prefer endings like that, don’t need a large set piece ending, I love both games, the second one is such a huge step up graphically too. Enjoy!
