Agree on the lack of charisma, but he is much more the savvy politician than Trump is. Trump will probably crowd him out for 2024, but he will be the frontrunner after that.
Now imagine what it's like to be a rescue pilot under the storm trying to save lives.
I read Jerry Greysons book a few years back, Rescue Pilot. He was SAR for Royal Navy on Wessex. And they were single pilot too for some reason. Riveting reading.
Before I got dumped from pilot track for glasses, my short stint in the RAF was a desire to fly the Wessex.

edit: to be clear I don’t mean Florida, it has no BBQ heritage, I was referring to the Carolinas where they realize that vinegar and mustard are perfection.

My coworker who's from Long Island wants to retire to Florida from NC. I don't understand it.
I like Tampa, it’s like a little zone of near normality. However I had 18 months in DC and had to come back to Florida, not my choice. We are considering Alaska for a couple of years though.You couldn't pay me to live in Florida, and it has nothing to do with hurricanes (though they don't help).
I do like Key West. It's got a very Caribbean feel to it. That's the only place I'll consider but it's always in the path of hurricanes.
My brother finally made it over from Manchester and we took a weekend trip there. Had best quesadillas at Fogartys. However we had a brutal bike ride around Key West in the heat, I should know better! Never again.

We didn’t, the evening we planned to was pissing with rain and the hotel we were at was at the other side of Key West by airport. Funny, it took 5 mins to walk to the airport for flight back to Tampa. Hopefully I’ll be flying the route in the next 2 years! If we don’t end up in Alaska.
Wow this terrible. My mother lives in West Palm so she’s ok but the west coast is in shambles. I hope the Naples Grand Beach Resort survives this as it’s one of my favorite destinations in Florida but it’s probably fecked as well.

Lee county sheriff saying fatalities are in the hundreds.
Really not bad at all, just wind damage, trees down. It didn’t rain as much and my yard is almost dry already. Don’t think it flooded significantly anywhere either.
Imagine being killed by a Hurricane called Ian.
I am absolutely bawling right now listening to this woman discussing how she had to leave her paralyzed husband in a room all by himself as she couldn’t move him into an interior room. She put a life jacket on him so he could float if he was washed away.
She called herself a terrible wife for not being a good care giver to him yesterday.

I saw it from their Twitter post. Absolute rock of a wife, she’s got nothing to be ashamed of. I hope this interview leads to her getting some help caring for her husband.
Groovy. I’ve been frantically trying to find this. There’s quite the Twitter surge to at least get a GFM account set up.
It looks like the worst of it managed to miss them. They’ve had heavy rain and lots of high wind, with lots of fallen debris in the neighbourhood but no flooding (touch wood).
High tide is in around half an hour so that’ll be one to keep an eye on but they think they’re been lucky.

Heartbreaking. Poor woman did absolutely everything she could and now she beating herself up for not being superhuman
Surely she could have called the local PD/Sheriff to come assist, or hospice, or found some neighbors.
After 40mph, first responders of any ilk don’t respond. One could criticize them staying put, but it seems like his condition was somewhat recent & could have clouded their judgement as to stay / leave or they hadn’t even made emergency plans.
