Television The Grand Tour (Prime Video)

I hope the celeb bit will be a bit of a running joke of getting people on who keep dying which means they then give up on having celebs becsuse I really hate that segment.

Good start. Production values even higher than what they were on the Beeb, you can tell amazon have thrown money at it. Only have an HD tv, would love to see it in 4k.

Celeb bit was shit, I'm sure I read that Clarkson didn't actually like that bit of the show so that's maybe why they're taking the piss.

Miles better than Top Gear 2.0.

Very good start, liked the new format. The new track looks awesome, not a fan of the NASCAR driver though.

The girl behind Clarkson was incapable of closing her mouth.

First twenty minutes were ace then they fell into their usual old shite. Think it would have been better with Clarkson and two new presenters.

The first two celebrity deaths were quite good, the Carol Vorderman bit was weird, not even sure it was her

Picked up where they left off. The three of them together just work so well. I hope they do some of the huge road trips again, they were the best bit of Top Gear.

Hard to see a way back for the actual Top Gear after that.

Really enjoyed that first episode. Made me actually look forward to what they have coming up

I liked the subversiveness of the celeb bit. Good episode. Better than anything from Top Gear in years.

People who thought the show's format is more important than the presenters are looking silly right now.

- Great opening
- Not sure how I feel about eboladrome but it might grow on me
- The conversations section should be expanded a little bit
- I think the American driver calling everything commie might get old quickly
- Celeb bit was overdone, should have just had that bloke fall out the plane
- The production values, montages, angles, shots etc were fantastic

I'd give it an 8/10

It feels like the actual 23rd series of Top Gear but with a slightly different format, there were times I actually forgot I watching "The Grand Tour". Although I disliked the Celeb part of Top Gear I hope they still get F1 drivers to do a timed lap.

It was very enjoyable. So much better than the new Top Gear but that goes without saying really.

We'll see if they can keep it up when they start doing the more scripted stuff and not just car reviews etc.

Have to say, thay looks pretty bad for Mc Laren. Over a second slower than the other 2.

The Porsche is amazing. Less Horsepower and cheaper than the other 2 and still beats them. You can see why Porsche didn't seem to give a shit and just let them use it whereas they supposedly had to jump through hoops to get Ferrari and McLaren to agree.

The McLaren always had severe traction problems compared to the others. On a track like this, this would always be a problem.

On most tough tracks, then?

The P1 is a beauty but the Porsche is not only a far more practical car but better around a race track, and cheaper!

The McLaren looks very fun to drive though, I would take it over the other two.

I got an Amazon Prime free trial so that I could watch this in 4K, and I have to say Amazon Prime itself is fecking crap.

Looks pretty good in 4K.

Agree with most of the comments, basically the old Top Gear with more money but hopefully they sort out aspects such as The American and the Celeb section. The jokes became a bit theatre like and maybe american style humour due to the location - particularly the "our air force" bit.

I suspect they played it safe by reviewing those 3 cars in the first show, they were only going to illicit a positive reaction. Let's see how they do when it comes to challenges and where the cars aren't so appealing.

Brilliant show though could have been a bit shorter. Celebrity segment was a bit weird and the close up shots of spoiler wing movements can be trimmed down a bit.

Clarkson, Hammond and May are cracking as usual.

I'm waiting for some of their signature races and Specials epdisodes!

The Jeremy Renner death was actually my favourite part, the other two celeb deaths weren't funny though.

Didn't like the Air Force joke.

Not keen on the the new Stig.

Apart from that it was great. The production value is better than most films.

Great to have em back.

New stig didn't look like that quick a driver?

Pretty good though. Would prefer if it was just on tv because it's more of a stick it on if it's on kind of thing for me. Can't see me watching all of them as I'd probably rather choose something else. 4k was nice though.

Yeah, dragged a bit being longer than an hour I thought.

It's brilliant for the delivery service. The TV is shite though. This is the first time I've used it and I've had Prime for months.
I just accidentally paid a tenner for some horseshit 4k jungle video because I thought everything was included. Had to cancel the order on my laptop
Proper 4k movies are £22! There's loads of series you have to pay for on top of the subscription too and I've never heard of any of them.

Edit: Now watching a documentary called the The Living Sea, narrated by Meryl Streep, with music by Sting (this is actually included in Prime).

The jellyfish shot is amazing in 4k. Slightly weird with Sting singing in the background, but I'm kinda liking it.

Absolutely nailed what my thoughts were too.

I pay $79 a year to get free 2-day shipping on most products. When they started including all the additional digital content, I thought it was great. Don't watch it much, but they have an ok back catalogue of TV shows, and I like their pilot season.

Someone's having a laugh, they've muted it every time they speak I'm convinced its not Clarkson on a wind up.

I'm watching now and it feels like they are trying too hard to be funny, in the Jordanian army town the bits that have me laugh are the "sniper" falling to his "death" and James' hair. Everything else they are dragging it out and really trying to emphasise that its a comedy part.

That's why I stopped watching Top Gear a few years back. Is it the same sort of thing?

I just tried to watch it and every time Clarkson and the likes talked it was muted but you could hear the laughter?

Thought today's episode wasn't as good as last week's. I was really drunk when I watched the last one though and I'm sober this time.

Thought this one was a bit shit. Like a very run of the mill Top Gear.

Given how much money they are throwing at this they should do better than that.
