The First Redcafe Sheep Draft

Go on Aldo, I'm the the only one who has been outspoken about who he is picking and all them managers last posted at least an hour after I did. There's no reason why they would want to change their picks really, whatever they are.

As long as we extend it to the original timeline in case someone didn't show up, I'm good. Otherwise I'm against revealing early.

Only requirement for this draft is that you need to log in once in 24 hours. That's not going to change with this. And people still have ample time to piss about and discuss options with other managers. It is not like we are having 1 hour rounds. If Aldo reveals now, this one would have been for about 9 hours or so.

:p

I agree, we just need to decide one thing and go on with it.
But, if something like "everybody is here and everybody confirms they're here we should plus Aldo/kps" we should be able to be flexible.

It's a recipe for wasting a ton of time waiting for whoever is missing to show up. I should know, I spent about six hours faffing around waiting for Theon's semifinal lineup to start the game against Pol and it only materialised about 14 hours after I gave up. Set deadlines, otherwise it will be a long 15-20 days minimum sittign around waiting for something to happen.

Jeez. People really take these drafts here too seriously. It is your game Aldo do as you want. Simples. If someone cries.. then well, every draft there is some one crying. It sounds insane to wait pointlessly when all the people have submitted that pick. Rules shules

That goes without saying, and I'm sure Aldo would act accordingly. 24-12-12 is the way forward IMO, I can see why people would get antsy, particularly when we aren't releasing the next question early.

It is no different to waiting 8 hours for some one to show up and make their pick in an conventional draft. Deadline will still stand, just that if everyone submits before that, you can reveal. If someone wants to submit just before the deadline then they can do that as well

Brilliant post imo. people take these games too seriously. It's always fun until someone goes crazy over it.

I don't get the advantages of releasing the next question early when you don't even know what players were picked in the previous round? That's just extending the mindfeck .

The problem is the rule was different to what we are doing. As said, I see no reason why this would be a problem, but we need set times going forward. If shorter for second/third attempts so be it, but set.

Oh, it doesn't let you get anywhere concrete, but some of the questions I've seen take a feckload of research if you want to go beyond the obvious. It's more a matter of drawing up options, then when you know the result you discard those picked and that's your shortlist ready.

The trouble here, from the viewpoint of formalities and principles, is obviously that any manager is allowed to change his pick up until the deadline. And we have eleven managers involved in this - so are actually all of 'em present, accounted for and willing to let the wagon roll on?

If so, I should think there is no problem. And the next deadline can still be as per the rules - as it should be.

That said - let Aldo run this thing. He probably doesn't need all of us howling down his neck.

Why? I still do not understand what is the issue with revealing as soon as you have all the picks in. Why do you need to give players the luxury of changing their picks 1 minute before any deadline?

So long as the deadline for the third attempt is not brought forward as a result, which is what Balu was getting at.

Crack on aldo. Only need to extend 3rd round if anyone doesn't get back to you by tomorrow evening.

Agreed, that's why I said I would only play this with Aldo modding, won't have modding by mob.

Alright the post is prepared and posted in the mods convo. Let's wait for a couple of hours, like Pippa has done, others could also show up and we can go ahead with it without any guilt.

As for the future rounds, I'll read the discussions and see what can be improved.

Because the entire point of deadlines is providing a structure and a degree of predictability? Say we get all the third round picks sometime over the evening, would I be happy to see the second round question has been posted feck knows how many hours earlier than expected? No, I wouldn't, because I have things to do, meetings to go to, etc. So I plan on having 24 hours to work on it not X gone because it all got brought forward + Y I already had allocated elsewhere and suddenly having to find time somewhere in all that to address it and meet an unplanned deadline.

I don't think we will have any issue here, particularly with Jayvin through to the next round (he is bound to be the most difficult one to coordinate moving timelines with, which makes it a massive headache and is not fair on him to single him out unnecessarily).

I wouldn't bring stuff forward to the point the second round question is also brought forward without everyone being aware. As far as he is concerned he need not log in until Wednesday noon. We can't keep waiting for everyone to be on board everytime something gets changed either. It's not fair on you for starters. 24-12-12 sounds reasonable to me though. 24 hours for the question, research and voting, then whoever got blocked knows over the next day they need to log in twice. Not a big ask, so long as it is set.

He can't know for sure that there will be 3rd attempts? In case everyone gets his pick, Wednesday noon is too late for his 2nd round 1st attempt.

Balu - Fail (Phillip Lahm)

IMPORTANT : Those who have successfully got their player, DO NOT name them here, as the ones who have failed must not know the ones who went through in their next attempt.

As a reminder : The players in the Banned List are unavailable from here on till the end of the draft. For this round and all future rounds.

Deadline for the third pick : 2200 UK time, 11 February.

Ah, fair enough, I've never seen a round without third attempts though. This is an exceptionally broad pool that this question has so I guess it is possible. Five Nestas say otherwise

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! It worked! Mwahahahahaahahaha!

Romario has been avenged!

Great, I'm able to pick up an extremely versatile player who can play two positions extremely well.

Aye - that just occurred to me too. In theory everyone must actually be prepared for any given round to finish after 24 hours. If everyone gets their pick, that's how it must go down.
