Yes, but there is no way you can play and enjoy a Japanese version of the game in the UK. (Unless you are fluent in Japanese)
That is a problem, yes, but not unsurmountable.

For example, you could have GT5 Prologue now, I don't think that it having Japanese text would distract from the experience.
I think the dialogue would be more of a problem.Yes but that is just a racing simulator, you could easily enjoy thta in Japanese. But what about if in FF, you want to kill a boss of with your limit break, but you give them an x-potion instead?
FF storylines are so deep anyway, definately need it in English.

I'd love to get Crisis Core but i sold my PSP.
i've finished playing FF7 crisis core last december...though the game was japanese and i couldn't understand a thing...but now the english is coming out and i am definitely getting it...
the ending of crisis core is classic...i would love to share it but i wouldn't want to spoil a great ending

As to the greatest games of all time...FF isn't even close on my list nor most peoples lists.
XCOM, Baldurs Gate 1&2 and Fallout tend to come up in most peoples number 1 slot.
How can you make such a huge generalisation?
I think you'll find FF7, is much higher than any of those in the top games lists anyways, hell WoW is probably higher.
EDIT: This is without mentioning Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Sonic the Hedgehog, Lemmings, and a whole host of other games...generalisations = silly.
Baldurs Gate 2 stands pretty much alone in it the length and depth of its story line. This is combined with the fantastic infinity engine. Bioware does great stories without having to rely on heavy anime and hentai elements to draw in the guys who fantasize about railing 11 year old asian girls.
Planescape:Torment is apparently the greatest of the infinity engine games, its from black Ilse Studios who also worked on BG2, I've never got it to work on my computer
XCOM. If you didn't play it I feel sorry for you. It is the greatest turn based tactical squad game of all time. The game was fantastically creepy. The atmosphere was amazing. The role playing elements for your squad management were brilliant. The depth of gameplay is again unrivaled for its genre. I still remember how stressed out I would get on terror missions when chrysalids would come charging out of the shadows and turn 2 of my best troopers into zombies. The game is legendary period. It wasn't a rehash, it defined an entire genre.
A Final Fantasy 7 remake seems to be the biggest demand on fans' lists these days, and so original director Kitase speaks about the possibility!
After a quick mention of his most recent title, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 (which he produced), he goes on to talk about the demand and possibilities of seeing as remake of the iconic original.
"My feelings are that if a remake were to work well then all the core members of the original team must be reassembled, all the artists and designers.
The problem is that, although all of us have an idea of what a remake should be and how to do it, organising such a thing right now is logistically very difficult. All the different members are now involved in very new, very large projects like Final Fantasy 13 and those projects are going to take a while.
Maybe, when all those games are finished then we can look at doing something like that.
Of course, that said we came up with the idea for Crisis Core in just two days. It was a case of 'this is what we want to do, so let's do it'. So, you can definitely expect the probability of something spontaneous happening at some point, but it's hard to predict."
So there you have it folks - it is indeed still a possibility, but a rare one at that. Maybe, after Final Fantasy 13 is completed, things might move foward...
The NES and SNES versions were good. Everything after that started to go down hill and get way too bizarre for my taste.

Well let's be honest, that's just bollocks, isn't it?
FF Versus XIII reports "are false"
Square Enix has rubbished suggestions that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold.
"Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false," the publisher said in a statement passed on to Eurogamer.
"The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled."
That rather significantly contradicts translations of game director Tetsuya Nomura's comments in a Famitsu article, where he reportedly used the words "on hold" and said "the entire Versus team is helping to finish Final Fantasy XIII".
Along with Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Versus makes up a three-game "compilation" of titles marking the next, and next-generation, step forward in the famous Square RPG series.
Not much is really known about it other than what's been seen in trailers, but Nomura has previously evoked Kingdom Hearts when searching for comparisons. Speaking to Eurogamer last May, Nomura said it would "examine the humanity of the characters in this game" and distinguish itself from the FF games' traditional fantasy worlds.
"In Versus I'm trying to propose new vision of how a Final Fantasy game can be. The game's going to be more human than the science-fiction caricature we so often see. It will focus around current world events - in that sense it's darker," he explained at the time.
It's also still happily in development, or so Square Enix says, despite the inevitable bias towards getting FF XIII - a banner game for both its publisher and platform holder Sony - out of the door as quickly as possible. Hopefully we'll hear more about its progress at E3.
Recent comments made by Square Enix suggest that Final Fantasy XIII may not come to Xbox 360 until well after the PS3 version is out.
According to Square Enix, "Work on the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII would not begin until the PS3 version of the game was completed," reports GamePlayer, while referring to Square Enix's E3 press conference held on July 14.
"So unless something was lost in translation," speculates GamePlayer, don't expect to see Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360 until 2010, whereas the PS3 version is widely expected sometime in 2009.
When asked for clarification, a Square Enix representative told GamePro over the weekend: "Outside of the interviews we had at E3 we won't be able to provide any official comments right now."
Whatever happens, it's worth noting that Final Fantasy XIII has been in development on PS3 for some time, whereas the decision to port the game to Xbox 360 was only made recently, says Square Enix.
Btw Kaos I'll let you know how FFXIII is while you wait
