Been playing VII on my PSP and I'm loving it as much as I did back in the day, the aged graphics and dodgy translations don't bother me. Barret is so funny at the start of the game, so is cross-dressing Cloud.

Going to try and get Aeris' 4th limit break on this playthrough as its one of the few things I haven't done in the game.

So, i'm starting to get into it (VII that is), although i'm not very far at all. Are there things like items etc. i need to make sure i don't miss out on throughout the game? I can't be assed to struggle playing it really, i just wanna get through it quickly and enjoy it and the story. I'm hoping to finish it in time for me to obtain FFX again (i seriously can't imagine this game being better than that.) Try not to spoil the story for me btw.

There's nothing really that you can miss in fairness. Maybe a few bits of materia but if you give each screen a decent sweep you won't miss much. To call between this and X is tricky. But for me VII was the first Final Fantasy i ever played through so it does have a special place. Personally i prefer 8 but that's just me.

Oh actually, when you have got through the mythril mines and heading to Junon. Go into the forests near the little river there, battle a few times until you face "mysterious ninja" or something like that. Once you beat her you'll have to answer some questions in the right way, try the internet as i can't remember, and she'll join your party. This is Yuffie, a character that is not necessary but is pretty useful. Her and Vincent are probably the only two things that you could miss that would make the game any harder.

There's no time limit for when to get them, if I'm not mistaken...he can get her later....

I actually cannot wait to get home from work are carrying on playing this!

I'm in the big Shinra building atm and have to guess some cnuts password. Is there an easy way to figure out which one it is? Or do i just try them all till i get it right? If so, i assume there's a bonus for getting right without doing that? (Hence why i made the effort of going back to floor 1 and saving before i did it)

There is a method that involves going through the library on that floor, but you'd be better off just saving the game and loading it until you get it right. Think you get an elemental materia if I remember rightly, which will help against the next 3 or 4 bosses.

Right, I'm going to admit it, I'm a FF Virgin.

Which is the best one to start me off, is there a PS3 out atm?

Final Fantasy VII definately.

Then move onto Final Fantasy X. Then you should just about be hooked on the FF series.

The PS3 store is selling FFVII at a very good price i hear. Or you can buy an old cheap PS1 with FFVII. Probably be around the same price. Or just download the pc version.

FFX is on PS2 format.

Don't forget FFVIII, arguably one of the very best move on to that one before X IMO!

Ah yes and of course FFXIII. The storyline on that game was amazing. Wouldn't be out of place on today's shelves, i can tell you that.

Oh aye, that was fecking brilliant. I just hope that, when FFVIII comes out, it'll be somewhere near that level.

To be honest, the only thing Elemental really helps with that early on in the game is when you encounter the Midgar Zolom for the first time; if Woodzy has levelled up enough and gets his tactics right he can acquire the Beta Enemy Skill early on in the game.

I'm just replaying through this for what must be the tenth time, never get bored with it. Just beat Rufus and now am about to escape from the Building.

I've been flying through VII on my PSP, loving it. Managed to get Aeris' fourth limit quite easily (thanks to Enemy Skill Matra Magic) and just passed the Temple of the Ancients where I got her Princess Guard weapon. Made a special save after getting that (also got Yuffie and Vincent). Now on to Bone Village.

I never got Aeris' fourth limit. I didn't bother levelling her really, my party was always Cloud, Barrett and RedXIII after leaving Midgar. Tifa got a run out every now and then. I haven't really played it all the way through for a long time though.

And Boothy if you're going to play through the final fantasy's you might as well work your way through them. VIII and IX are too good to miss out on in my opinion.

Okay, so i'm stuck kinda. But i don't think i should be, it's weird.

I'm still in the Shinra building and this Jenova thing as escaped apparently. Anyway, i've gonna back upto the lab room where i met RedXIII, then there's a door in there that won't actually open, although i'm assuming it's supposed to open (I wen't through the door from the other side earlier on, and some bloke that gave me a keycard went through the same door.) Think it might be a bug, if so. Massive, massive sigh.

That does sound like a bug, after you beat the boss monster in the lab and get Red XIII you speak to the lab assistant who gives you a keycard, then you can go through the same door he runs through (bottom right in the room, near two potions, red bar above the door). I think you need to go back down to the 66th floor and get in the elevator so maybe you can do it without going down that particular set of stairs.

When you enter the room wth Red in have you just come up the lift?

Because if so then you have to leave by a door in the bottom right hand corner of the room. The door will be open and there will be marks on the wall in the corridor. If i remember the door is under a walkway and not clearly visible so this might be it. You shouldn't need a keycard at that point.

EDIT: never mind i found a video. You should just walk straight through the door, don't press anything just walk through.

Nah, won't let me walk through that door at all. The door on the floor below to get into the lift and go the other way is locked, so I assume this the only way I can go. Sigh. I'll load it up when I get in and see if it makes a difference after the machine's has been switched off. Definitely not up for starting again though, this sucks.

EDIT: Argh, still doesn't work. The only thing i can think of is someone uploading a save game online when they get to that point? (If people on here are currently playing the game) If it would even be possible to use a PS1 game save on my PS3. I assume it would work by putting it on a memory stick.

Argh, sigh. Just found out that won't work anyway without buying an adapter.

Haha. I'm an idiot. Turns out the door was actually beneath the stairs, and i thought it was above.

Damn these misleading graphics/my stupidity!

:lol: Dude the guy who gives you the keycard walks down the stairs to get through the door! Ah well glad you're past it now, you've still got a long ways to go.

I've just gotten on to disk 2 of VII, about to go snowboarding :D

I'm levelling up in the forests just before Junon. Already have Satellite Beam and Climhazzard with Barret and Cloud, Blood Fang with Red XIII and Fire, Ice and Bolt 2:cool:

I completed 7 years ago, back when I was young - seeing you noobs try and complete it now, several years on makes me realise how great I was at FF7 at such an early age and in general how great I truly am anyway.

Jesus you must be pumping through the levels! I very rarely levelled until the end, i only got satellite beam just before the underwater reactor to put that into context.

Thing is, i was finding the game easy till then. I'm yet to die which i'm proud of. I remember on other games i'd still die once or twice before it even got difficult.

I still feat that im not using Materia properly. What's this enemy skill thing all about? It won't even let me use it. And wtf does Aeris' second limit break (evil seal or something) do. I don't like not knowing anything about all this stuff.

Enemy Skill is basically a materia which, when certain enemies use certain attacks against you, you learn that attack and then you yourself can use it on enemies from then on.

Some enemies you have to manipulate to get though.....

Don't worry about the materia, you'll always find new combinations and ways in which to stregthen yourself. It's a lot of fun.

Seal Evil both stops and silences the enemy if I remember correctly.

How do i get new limit breaks then? I have a 2 with a few party members but i have no idea how i got them.
