FF8's card game is the best mini game in any FF, definitely.

Yup.

Tetra Master is fun too, but...

Still better than jump rope, right?

1,000 consecutive jumps for an achievement on the PS4 version. Don't think I've ever got more than 10.

This guy gets it. I could probably set up an auto-clicker to do it for me, but god knows how I'd stomach it otherwise.

Aye. It was so addictive, played so much of it.

I remember the frustration of being in a new region and losing because of new rules specifically for that area

And trying to beat Edea at the card game to get the Squall card was just.........

Triad was fairly easy if you could avoid the random and closed card rules. Pain in the ass those.

Just downloaded FF7 to play through again. I want to play 9 at some point, is there a disgusting source for it?

Oh god, feck that thing from a height.

Especially early on trying to get the good cards in Dollett without spreading random about.

Surely it's not that expensive to buy on the PS Store or Nintendo store if you have a Playstation or a Switch?

Feck that achievement to hell and back. I managed to obtain it and it's seriously the worst. It's actually so much easier to accomplish on the original, I think they messed up the timings in the remaster or there's some sort of input lag.

There's also one where you have to beat 10,000 enemies which requires a lot of grinding, or simply figuring out a way to do it automatically and leave it on overnight. You just have to ask why is it an achievement? It's not difficult, just tedious.

Never played ff7, only ever played ffx when that was new and really enjoyed it. Always heard people say how great 7 is so looking forward to it.

I wonder exactly how much of the game the first episode will be. Quality looks amazing.
Guessing either the first disc as a whole or up until right after you get the tiny bronco. Cosmo Canyon if they want to be assholes.

I wouldn't expect them to split it by disc. Disc 3 as a standalone game would be bit meh wouldn't it?

Yes, but square Enix wouldn't mind having the money from it. Maybe they'll split it in 4. Or 20.

First episode? They releasing it in episodes?
Yeah. I think they've bitten off more than they can chew. I'd have preferred a straight remake with fancier graphics and no voice.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they cut it off after Midgar. All the footage so far has been from very early in the game.

They claimed earlier that we'd see more than midgar in the first episode. :)

I have never played a Final Fantasy game, just never got round to it. I have no idea where I would even start now.

It's NEVER too late for Final Fantasy ;). FF X might be a good place to start. Avoid 13 (the only bad game IMO) and 15 (its ok but not classic FF).

I hope so I always liked that part of the game best.

I wonder if the plans have changed with it being episodic, they did scrap the game with one developer and start all over with another 2 years ago. Was All the info we have before they changed it all up?

I'm not optimistic with this remake but I'm sure I'll buy it even if it sucks. Graphics look cool, but would have preferred a straight up faithful remake of the turn based gameplay and only minor changes in the script. The two RE remakes have shown that it can be done right.

Looks pretty cool, havent enjoyed an FF game since XII though, so not holding my breath.

I get the gameplay change as they probably thought they had to do enough to make it feel like an entirely new game to appeal to people (even though they really didn't have to do anything).

Don't have a huge problem with it as long as it's not flawed.

Those few glimpses of the battle system don't fill me with confidence. If it's anything like a continuation of FFXV's battle system, count me out. It was tedious as hell.

Would have given a lot of money if this was released as an entire game, and was turned base. As it is, I have no interest to buy it episode by episode. Based on reviews, I might buy it when the entire game is released. Or better, replay the original one.

I don't even get the idea of an episodic JRPG. How is that reconcilable with FFVII's post-Midgar freedom and open-world nature? I'm worried we'll lose all of that and end up with a design that's closer to the horror of FFXIII. There's very little reason for optimism based on the info available so far.

It actually looks a bit like Crisis Core, which was pretty cool for a handheld game, but would be a massive disappointment.

I have the feeling that Jrpg's have been left behind by the onslaught of PCRPG's since the last decade or so. They're just so archaic in comparison.

Jrpgs with a turn-based system has largely been left behind indeed. These days we get the odd re-re-rerelease of a old JRPG or some wannabe studio make a half-assed one.
I swear, persona 5 is only hailed as one of the best jrpgs of all time because it's one of extremely few decent ones of the last gen. Very few things with it can stand up to the qualities of jrpgs of the snes-ps2 era.
