It's not random. Twice as many games (larger pool to pick from), not necessarily the best two teams (although sometimes they were), not done before, more fun to research, and should deliver more interesting/new players than just the finals and their usual suspects.
That is, completely deliberate choice.

2) Make sure you indicate which game/leg you are choosing as you may have to revisit that specific game for leftovers.

I've look at this briefly and this is quite tedious. Whoever sneaks good players through this round deserves them!
Aye, I generally love this research-heavy rounds so this is a great criteria, but my heart isn't really in it as I know I have to play 2 sheep in the first round and almost everyone else seems to be fecking avoiding sheep entirely
.I do wonder if the committee have done this intentionally though, given that we're only allowed to have one sheep on the bench. Give out the 'easier' criteria early and allow the managers to stock up on big names, then hit us with the tougher rounds so that we have to play sheep and leave the stars on the subs bench. Probably not, but deliciously evil if I'm onto something here
I quite like it as it rewards the determined and/or sad, no life bastards that'll research until they lose the will to live, but alas I've got stuff to do so I'm packing it in soon.

To be fair to the mods, the managers have been very cowardly too. Last round proves that if not any other before.
I think having only 1 sheep on the bench rule although seemed fun at start, has made managers way too cautious.
