The F1 Thread 2015 Season

Amazing race from Verstappen. Lucky at times, but cannot deny the balls on the kid to just say feck off to his bosses and stick to his guns. Exciting things ahead.

Also feel that Lotus should get an Unsafe Release penalty every time they let Maldonado out on the tracks. The man is a maniac.

Amazing, he must bring a lot of money.

Vettel :nono: The finger is back

Jenson Button is set to announce his retirement from F1 at this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix, according to reports.

The Times, the Daily Mail and The Daily Telegraph all say that Button has decided to exit on his own terms and that he sees the native country of his wife Jessica - a place which has become a second home for the Englishman - as the ideal venue.

A mixture of doubt surrounding his 2016 race seat and the competitiveness of the McLaren-Honda package are thought to be behind Button's decision.

No surprise but still :(

Something about the Piquet family and crashing...

Where was Flavio?

I would have thought Button would stick around for another year after having to drive that car around a year, they're not going to become winners over night but I am expecting them to have a decent car as long as Honda sort out the energy recovery system. If he does leave then I then it will be a straight swap with Magnussen.

Be a damn shame to see JB go out on a low, be good for him to just walk into a top WEC car, do Le Mans and some TV work though.

Hope McLaren go with Vandoorne, if only to open up the possibility of Alonso getting beaten by a rookie and totally losing his shit again.

I like him , if Haas have a decent car he should do well.

I don't see Haas being fast, maybe as fast as Sauber but I expect them to be the 2nd slowest car. I think he's going there to get a driver for Ferrari in 2017.

You could argue when Lotus, Virgin and HRT entered they were better equipped for F1 and even after even 4 years they were nowhere, Virgin/Marussia/Manor are still nowhere.

F1 is really hard to break into and especially hard for teams built from scratch. I don't expect Haas to be anywhere but 4-5 seconds off the pace, that's probably best case for them for 2016.

Things not looking good for Lotus.
Lotus' financial plight has continued in Japan, with their freight late to arrive and the team locked out of their hospitality unit.

A protracted takeover from Renault is yet to be confirmed and the team are due in the High Court in London on Monday over an unpaid tax bill from the HMRC.

The re-signing of Pastor Maldonado following the Singapore GP will perhaps ease immediate concerns, with the Venezuelan bringing a reported £30m in sponsorship from his homeland.

I'm a little surprised they are going to announce it in Japan - because lets face facts however it gets spun we all know its Jenson basically saying the engine is gash and I don't want to have to put up wit it for another year... I would have thought Honda would have liked to have avoided Japan for obvious reasons - but perhaps its Mclarans way of piling a bit more pressure on them to sort it out

If you'd said at the start of the season to guess which race he'd announce it at I think most people would have guessed Japan.

God awful weather for both free practice sessions, heavy rain and lots of standing water.
Like this race weekend, dont have to get up early, already up for work and added bonus I am being paid while I watch.

Don't really understand the point of BBC making this race live when they could have had a Suzuka highlights package and had a live weekend for a race with a more convenient time for British viewers.

Looks like Mercedes are back on top again. In some ways, Hamilton was lucky that his car died in Singapore rather than elsewhere. If he was going to have a retirement, it might as well have been at Mecedes weakest track of the year.

Mercedes looking good again. Don't think we've seen a single shot of them so far though, maybe they've pissed Bernie off.

What the feck was Kvyat doing? He's looked pretty ragged all weekend but you don't expect to see stuff like that from these guys.
