The F1 Thread 2014 Season

Never go back, Lewis is more likely to head to Red Bull or Ferrari than back to McLaren.
With his Senna obsession I think McLaren-Honda must be pretty tempting for him. I'd love to see him in a (good) Ferrari though.

Well done Riccardo, good race from him. Quite enjoyed this race, plenty of great racing throughout

I think I'm done with F1 for this year. Watching Rosberg get repeatedly rewarded for scrappy driving, bad decisions and (today) outright cheating has made it not particularly enjoyable.

Some odd comments by the Mercedes guy. I wouldn't have thought they wouldn't publicly pick sides on that one. Should have just called it a racing incident and dealt with it behind closed doors. This way just sounds like they are playing favorites.

He won't give a shit about the boo's if he wins the championship. Regrettable racing incident aside it was still a brilliant result for him, twenty point swing

It was a brilliant result precisely because he deliberately took out his team-mate and championship rival, knowing he'll get the support of the team if it all kicks off.

It's Schumacher all over again, or Webber and Vettel. What is it about German drivers just giving up all pretence and outright cheating when the going gets tough?

Right....

I'm a huge Frank Williams fan so it's good to see Bottas up there.

That "Mercedes guy" is Niki Lauda, he knows a bit about Formula 1 you know. I'm grateful he is at Mercedes giving us actual insight into incidents and his team rather than taking the political view.

Didn't realise they did these ridiculous podium interviews. Made even more cringeworthy by Eddie Jordan. This is the first race I've watched live in about 2 years.

Lauda is still very very angry with Rosberg . And it's hilarious how the German commentator tries to argue against him.

Lauda said that it's unacceptable that they crash in the 2nd round.
If it happens in the last round you could talk about it but it's not acceptable in the second round.
Especially because it meant that Lewis didn't get points and Niko couldn't win after this instead of a 1,2 finish.

Commentator: What happened exactly?
Lauda: Niko drove into Lewis' car. Lewis was in front and he doesn't have to watch out for Niko.
[...] Rosberg triggered that accident.

Toto Wolff is saying the same as Lauda basically.
I think Rosberg is in for a treat.

Man, Vettel is really pissed that he's so much slower than Ricciardo...

The analysis sky sports do is great tbh, there's literally no defence for Rosberg here.

Wonder how Vettel is feeling. He's being soundly beaten by Ricciardo this season.
He just said, that he probably was lucky to make that small mistake, which meant Ricciardo went past him so early. It saved him from another radio message from the team . He looks clueless and has no explanation why he's nowhere near Ricciardo at the moment. He really struggles with the car for some reason. He seemed more frustrated than angry though. In the first half of the season, he usually was pissed after finishing behind his teammate. It's almost as if he doesn't expect anything different at the moment.
