The F1 Thread 2014 Season

What happened to proper restarts when the first lap is red flagged? Urgh.

Maybe drivers shouldn't just floor it coming back on track across grass? I feel like they have been doing that a lot recently and I'm amazed this doesn't happen more often.

Not an unreasonable point, but it's not like he lost traction on the grass, it was a huge bump/trench that knocked the car into the spin.

Even at half speed he'd have jumped in the air, it's awful, awful track design. Farcical. As I said earlier, who the feck digs a trench three foot off the racing line?

And now we have to wait at least fifteen minutes whilst they repair the guard rail. This is a farce! Terrible organisation.

Absolutely, that drainage trench really needs covering/smoothing/whatever particularly given its on the exit of a corner thats very easy to run wide on. But also I do feel like the drivers do need to stop flooring it to get back on, especially when its the packed first lap.

That takes time tbf.

It's not farcical to have to repair a guard rail ffs  How often does that even happen?

By the way there is a 4 hour time limit on this one, the 2 hour limit isn't in effect.

Dont agree, they have to repair it, they cant race with it damaged like that.

Oh no, I agree, but it's typical British workmanship. Thirty blokes standing around staring at it, but no one actually hurrying to replace the damn thing.

Meanwhile Vettel - who not so very long ago people questioned whether he could actually pass other drivers - has 4 world championships. This kind of thing is why I only take a fleeting interest in F1.

People were just bored of his domination, he's an excellent driver.

Yeah Lauda is wrong there and I'm surprised given the era he raced in.
