The F1 Thread 2014 Season

Lewis is .2 secs faster now and out of DRS, hoping he holds onto this.

Big win for Hamilton. Really puts a marker down for the rest of the season.

I think Rosberg was faster today but Lewis held him off really well.

Brilliant race from Lewis, Nico was quicker but he defended and managed the race superbly.

Great race, close competitive racing. Lewis looked very good, definitely the slower of the two Mercs.

Amazing drive from Lewis at the end there. Great race.

Is it me, though, or is the TV direction getting worse and worse? At the end there we were being forced to watch unimportant shit like Button retiring or the Mercedes pit crew hugging. NO ONE CARES. Watch the fecking battles further down, Christ. And then when the Mercedes were battling for the lead we were watching Sebastian bloody Vettel.

Good race. Mercedes cars dominating, but the battle between then was really good. Riccardo did well to get up to 4th in the end, plus he had a nice battle with Vettle. Got to wonder what Vettle is thinking right now, getting shown up by his team mate.

Reliability problems at McLaren.

With their engine and resources they should be the number 2 team.

Edit: Two of their previous drivers on the podium just to rub it in.

When they went flatout after the SC the Merc's finished 24 seconds ahead of 3rd, thats proper speed that. I felt like the pack could potentially catch them up at some point this season to atleast make it competitive but now I'm not so sure, that was domination pace.

McLaren and Ferrari have been shit for years, despite their money.

True but that was mainly in comparison to the super Red Bull aero package. Don't forget that Alonso had some great drives and challenged to the wire for a few seasons, you still need a fast car to let the driver do the work.

This season it is clear the Mercedes engines are providing an advantage, McLaren should be using that to much better effect.

How much were Brawn ahead byin seconds at this stage?

I was of the impression that Red Bull would probably catch up midway through the season and Vettel would pick up a win or two but they'd be too far back to win the title, but it seems like the only reason a Merc driver won't be first is because of reliability. Scary.

Delighted for Hamilton who deserved the win. It would've been really unlucky if another brainfart by Maldonado cost him a win, but he managed to hold off Rosberg in a great battle throughout. The gap between them and the rest though is astonishing. Was it something like 20+ seconds those two pulled ahead of the rest in the last 10 laps? All while fighting for the win. Happy to see Ricciardo doing well so far despite everything he's had to deal with. Him and Vettel might yet turn out to be a great rivalry this year.

I still think a 10 second stop / go penalty for Maldonado is a joke. He should be banned for a race, at least.

I seem to remember the Brawn being about 7-8 tenths ahead of the pack for the first few rounds, then gradually the rest caught them by about Silverstone. Mercedes pace today was probably about the same as Red Bull at their peak, over a single low fuel lap about a second but over a race distance its even more because it looks after its tyres and is quick in all conditions.

It's pretty much a monster.

Agree. Think what happened with Red Bull in the pits last race and then that incident with the driver. Plus it is shocking driving for a Formula 1 driver.

Also is Riccardo quicker than Vettel, looked that way last few races but Riccardo's not had the rub of the green.

I'd like to say this again, as I feel it can't be said enough. Maldonado is a dickhead.
