The F1 Thread 2013 Season

Well done Vettel; it has been a dominant season, and there never looked like a challenger against him. He was nearly flawless this season, and no one has deserved it more for their driving.

I really hope though that the new regulations feck up Red Bull's plans, and they suddenly lose the ability to build a car with a V6 engine. I will definitely be keeping a close eye on how McClaren will stage their revival, as this is the worst I've seen them in years; but with Honda coming in this could be the boost they needed. Also hoping a new driver like Hulkenberg comes to pair up with Button, as I don't think Perez is cut out to be a top driver (even though he had a good race today).

Bring on next season, and I hope the remaining races are a good un.

Mercedes refuses to comment on Ross Brawn F1 exit reports

Mercedes has refused to confirm or deny reports that its team principal Ross Brawn will leave the outfit at the end of the year.

Brawn's future has been the subject of speculation since the start of the campaign, with the outfit openly admitting that it was making plans for a long-term handover to Paddy Lowe.

A BBC report claims that Brawn has lost patience with the team finalising that plan and will now leave the outfit.

The key decision to be made was when that handover would take place - and whether or not Brawn would remain in another management role within the Mercedes corporation.

With the end of the current campaign looming, talks have intensified in recent weeks to sort the situation, and Brawn has made it clear several times that he will only remain if he maintains his strong influence.

Mercedes refused to elaborate on the situation, with a team spokesman issuing a firm 'no comment.'

Surely if it was a load of bollocks they'd just deny it.

Maybe they want to make a last ditch effort to convince him to stay before they make a statement.

That is dissapointing if true, I like Ross. Hope he ends up at Williams and revives them.

If Luca had any sense he'd be offering him the world to take over as team principle.

Not sure he would go back, I mean every man has his price but Ross has been there and done that and he won't ever top his achievements at Ferrari during his time there. If he stays in F1 I think he will do it for the challenge of building a sleeping giant back up, at least I hope he would.

I know what you're saying, but Ferrari have won bugger all in 5 years, and no WDC in 6, and the last title before that was 2004.

If he were to go back and manage a double championship winning team, that would certainly be held in high regard.

Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne back together at Ferrari trying to beat Adrian Newey's car? Not sure if that would be exciting or boring, we already had that 15 years ago. It was really exciting back then, though.

It dawns on me that if Lotus have signed Maldonado to partner Grosjean, they'll be lucky to finish any races at all with both cars. At least one of them will crash.

Came in to post this. On the plus side if they manage to qualify about 3rd/4th regularly there is a good chance that they will wipe Vettel out at the first corner every other race

Gyros jean has improved a lot over the past 12 months, he will most likely become the number one driver at Lotus. If Lotus go for Maldonado it will probably have something to do with money.

I don't understand why they aren't punishing drivers for running wide, its ridiculous. Rosberg was off, Perez, Maldonado, Massa and thats from just watching without replays.

Either enforce the rules or don't have them. Wimps.

Yep, especially after specifically saying they would.

The Ferrari looks a right handful.

most of the drivers were going off the track, has it stands they know nothing will happen to them so wont stop doing it.

If the pole lap is by a car running wide and doesn't get punished then its stupid and unfair to those actually driving the track.
