The F1 Thread 2013 Season

Top race. Big concerns re: the tyres though.

Well done to Hamilton, Alonso and Massa in particular as you guys have said on here. All great drives considering the circumstances. Rosberg kept a cool head through it all and probably merited the win too.
Why do people try to be politically correct ? Rosberg didn't merit the win, he got lucky. Like alonso said that they were lucky to actually reduce the gap on vettel.

What did Hamilton say? Sorry but my feed went off right after the podium.

Lewis Hamilton, who finished fourth, was understandably disappointed with his tyre failure and he had some strong words to say on the issue.
"The safety is the biggest issue, it's unacceptable," he says. "We had that tyre test to improve the tyre and to have four blowouts is unacceptable. It's only when someone gets hurt that someone will be doing something about it. I think it's a waste of time talking to the FIA, and if they don't do anything that says a lot about them."

Laid into Pirelli, said it's unacceptable and they're not doing anything about it.

Asked if the drivers should talk to Pirelli or the FIA he said there's no point cos they don't listen.

Spot on comments from Lewis, glad he pointed out its the FIA's responsibility to act and yet they probably won't. I hope more speak up.

I've struggled to get into this season's F1. Need a win from Hamilton to get me going and today was a huge disappointment as I was very hopeful.

Di Resta

"I had no issues, I have no concerns with the tires"

Boring as ever.

How can a specific corner have a sharp edge if tyres were failing either side? The tyres are dud, I think Brawn was kind of right in his interview.

Great drives all round, some seriously good driving keeping the cars on the tarmac in failures too. Alonso's reaction to Perez's failure was incredible. Pirelli and the FIA need to get their shit together.

Kerb or no kerb it's ridiculous not being able to see these drivers push like they did in the last 5 laps for a race.

Also, Force India are one of the teams that blocked the changing of the tyre compound because they feel the current situation benefits them, so they're not going to allow one of their drivers to suggest otherwise.

F1 can get ridiculously political sometimes, safety should be above everything.

Tyres were the deciding factor again but Pirelli are not entirely at fault here as the teams have an input during the development stage.

They will have work together and find a fix for this as you can't carry on racing like this but thanks to the politics within F1 I doubt they will find a solution that suits everyone.

Celebrating when Vettel stopped on the track didn't go down too well in the RBR stand, keeps the WDC alive for a bit longer but I think he's going to make it four in a row this year.

 That just makes it even funnier

Whilst I'm not really a fan of Perez, he has spoken correctly there. It doesn't seem like anyone is going to do anything until someone gets seriously hurt.

Rosberg under investigation for not slowing for a yellow at the end of the race.

Absolutely ridiculous to expect him to slow down when Webber is all over him, but what do I know.

This year's tyre suppliers.

Tyres are a big issue at the moment, but its hardly something we haven't seen before.

Indinapolis I think it was a few years ago all the Michelin cars were not allowed to race for a similar reason as we saw today.
Ended up with a farcical race with 4 Bridgestone runners.
Its F1, there is always something controversial going on and always will be.
Ended up a great race due to tyre issues, but as in the past the tyre issue will be resolved and we will move on to something else.

Boring, for giving his view on how his race went?

I like to point out how boring he is even when he isn't. I want the guy to do well, but he's pretty characterless in and out the car.

Benson said Alonso's right rear was failing on the in-lap hence my comment about it not being down to a specific corner/kerb.

At the moment it is pure speculation to say it was or wasn't a kerb issue.
It is possible that it was a kerb and that the tyres gave out at different parts of the circuit.
