 Let him start the race first. Don't want his team to have time to put them back on before the start

I don't understand the part where he says Webber doesn't help the team. I remember Webber letting Vettel through plenty of times before when the team has told him to. He wasn't always happy about it but he did it.

Webber fecked him at the start of Brazil last year, he cut right across him if I remember right.

We have finally seen the real Vettel, as soon as I heard that radio call to move Webber out the way I knew what he really was.

That's mentioned again and again in this thread but I really can't remember Webber being a great team player once? In which races did Webber let Vettel through? At best I can remember a few times Webber not attacking when Vettel was ahead of him. Webber never acted like Massa last season for example who worked hard for Alonso, kept others behind, gave up starting positions so Alonso can start on the better side, let him pass everytime. Both, Vettel and Webber, drove for the championship until the last race in 2010, Webber never came close to Vettel in the championship in 2011 and I can't remember a single race where he helped Vettel that season. In 2012 were a few races where Webber tried to beat Vettel despite the fact that Vettel was driving for the championship while Webber was without a chance - for example the start in Korea or the last race in Brazil.

Vettel acted like a cnut in the last race but Webber is not the nice team player who helped Vettel win anything, quite the opposite actually.

Webber has been told to hold station on more than one occasion, I'll be honest I can't be arsed to look back and sift through them but its happened a few times and every time he obeyed, I think the closest time was Silverstone 2011 when he attacked but never actually made a move. I distinctly remember one race when Vettel had an issue of some kind and Red Bull wouldn't allow Webber to attack him, 2010 or 2011 I think.

Hopefully all this squabbling makes for more interesting racing. Maybe it will light a fire within Webber and he'll actually challenge Vettel a bit more. I love to see them really dual it out. I really hope we don't have a repeat of 2011 where Vettel dominated the whole way. Despite Vettel winning in the end, last season was a breath of fresh air.

I know in 2010, the beginning part of the season was filled with Vettle getting favours from the team. Better parts, earlier upgrades and even that year webber was meant to play backup to Vettle. It was only near the end when Webber somehow ended up on basically the same points that Redbull got behind him as well, so I wouldn't call that racing for the championship for the whole season. It was at the end of the season when they started backing both drivers.

I'm not saying Vettel never was favored by the team and had an advantage, which of course makes sense because he's clearly the superior driver to Webber. I'm saying I can't remember Webber ever letting Vettel pass for the championship which the following quote mentioned.

That was the post I quoted and that's nonsense imo. Vettel getting new parts first has nothing to do with Webber helping him.

I can't remember of the top of my head any times when Webber has been forced to let Vettle past. But I can remember a couple of times where Webbers car was the faster one come the end of the race and he has been told to hold position behind Vettle. I wouldn't be able to actually pin point those exact races though as they all blur together for me.

Yeah, I remember a few times as well when Webber wasn't allowed to attack. Like I said above, Vettel was a cnut in the last race. Just think it's strange to make Webber the perfect team player who was just as helpful as Massa for Alonso last season when Webber was an idiot several times and besides staying behind a few times never did anything noteworthy to help Vettel.

Webbers job isn't to help vettel though? He did what the team asked him to do.

Massa and Raikkonen were fastest in second practice this afternoon. Followed by Alonso and Rosberg. Wouldn't be surprised if Massa out qualifies Alonso again. Vettel was 10th fastest.

Interesting session. Obviously Red Bull will be quicker in qualifying tomorrow but I think there will be cars that are faster. I quite like Massa, seems like an easy going guy whose struggled a bit since that freak accident he had. Hopefully he can get back on the podium.

It's impossible to prove this without the radio transmissions but I think Webber has been helping out Vettel for a couple of years now but he does have the occasional meltdown where he ignores the team and goes after Vettel.

Complaining about tyres is the cool thing to do now. I wish they'd get on with it rather than moan about it every 2 seconds. Yes, we know the tyres are bad. Yes, we know they wear a lot. It's the same compounds for everyone, so chances are the guy up ahead is struggling with the same issues as you.

What do you expect them to do? They are directly asked about the tyres by the journo's and you think they are going to say "they are great".

Button

"You would say that tyre is more the feeling we had in the winter than the first two races. "It's extreme degradation and from a tyre that's doing a [one minute] 35 in qualifying spec and then in the race after eight laps doing [one minute] 48s, it's a big difference. We're slower than GP2 cars by about five seconds."

These are drivers that all their life have been programmed to race as fast as they can and now they are paid millions to nurse tyres to delta times and they don't like it.

They need to provide a tyre with a window of consistent performance, 15-20 laps of racing with a massive drop off at the end, right now the softer tyres are dropping a second or more a lap, the option will struggle to do 5 laps on Sunday and thats just silly.

Interesting that Gary thinks Force India could do something this year and make regular and consistent top 10 qualifications and race finishes. They've been 'threatening' each year to do something but never have. Would be nice if they could.

They can't keep up with the development of the bigger teams as the season wares on.

In the last two seasons they have had better results in the second half than in the first.

Last season, Di Resta had a better first half of the season in terms of consistency but managed a 4th place in the second half.

Hulkenberg was very good in the second half of the season. 6 out of 10 races he was in the top 10 in the second half of the season with a 4th place finish of his own.
