The F1 Thread 2013 Season

The fact that McLaren got in the points at all is somewhat of a miracle.

Never expected Kimi to win, Good to see though.

Webber really needs to fix his starts if he wants to get anywhere this season.

Actually quite a comfortable win there for Raikkonen, on pure pace as well. Red Bull must be miffed!

McLaren 6th fastest, fairly disgraceful for them really.

Australia is always an anomaly. Can't say weather this is the pace order for sure yet.

Wait, Lotus is a British team? Always thought Renault (not just engine supplier) had some stake in it and they were French.

Good to see Kimi win. I never really dislike any driver but it was good that Vettel didn't win that one. Him not winning provides some extra competition for the championship.

Vettel has just issued an ultimatum: "IF you don't want champagne in your eyes, don't fecking win!"

Bet that warning was specially directed towards Kimi as well

Btw Felipe should be rightly pissed with the team. fecked him over with the strategy eventhough he was ahead. To do it in the first race is just poor form.

yes.. i would leave the team if i was him. I like Ferrari but the way they treat Massa is terrible.

Decent race and my preseason Lotus prediction rings true.

Not entirely sure how I feel about it though, you can clearly see drivers running to delta times to make tyres last and the options were just embarrassingly bad. Quali really will turn into a snooze fest as teams will worry more about keeping the tyres alive than actual grid position. Let's see what Malaysia brings us.

Don't hang your hat on that too much lad.

Solid race & probably could have been a much better finish had Ferrari not messed about with their strategy. RBR must be ruing the fact of not doing any long runs in their pre-season test plan.

I'm not going to but they did just win a race based on consistency and tyre preservation, if that continues and I don't see why it shouldn't then they are title contenders.

Ferrari looks excellent too, Red Bull have the fastest outright pace and if they get on top of the tyres they will be hard to beat. Mercedes better than expected, McLaren a bag of shit. Quite low temps though so it might be all change next race, I think its fair to say that this season has the potential of lots of race winners again.

Definitely agree, i think just because Pirelli are going more aggressive on the compound choices & you'll get scenarios like this race where the weather & temperature was unlike any Melbourne race previous so the form will be difficult to predict.

Sutil impressed me loads today, considering how long he's been out of the car & the limited testing he had he held his own at the front.

Also for those wondering why Grosjean was so far off it, Kimi was running new upgrades on the car on Friday & got it set up for today. Grosjean only got them on Saturday & had 2 dry laps to get it set up.

I'd expect those two cars to be closer together in Malaysia...

Just watched. What a surprise that was.

Lotus has a great balance of tyre wear and speed. Hamilton has done well to jump ship. I bet he wishes he had a shot at the Lotus! I'm hopeful Mercedes can keep up in development but doubtful.

Sutil did really well. Not sure an extra stop would have helped much.

McLaren need to give last season's car a dust off to be honest, this one's going nowhere fast.

Really hope Lotus can keep up with the development race this year, would love to see Raikkonen have a genuine title bid.

What an unfathomably amazing weekend of sport. United winning, Kimi winning, Wales winning, City losing and Liverpool losing. Amazing.

The rear end packaging on the new Williams is crazy.

Someone photoshopped out the "shark fin" just to show how pronounced it is.

Can't remember, did they go with the shark fin? If they did, perhaps they should photoshop it out for Malaysia!

Watching the 2003 Australian Grand Prix on Sky F1 and full of beer.

Unlimited 3 litre V10's are such a joy to hear.

feck all overtaking mind!
