The F1 Thread 2010 Season

Great drive from Alonso and Lewis. It would be great if true racers like Alonso, Lewis or Vettel win the championship rather than one of their less talented team mates.

Sorry, Hamilton is a great driver, but that wasnt a very good drive from him today. He was moaning to get going and then was overtaken instantly and struggled for pace for about 10 laps until the worst of the standing water had gone, and then he was getting dropped by Vettel and Alonso, and then he's on the radio saying the light is fine and the next thing we know he's 10 seconds down on Alonso. The best thing that can be said about his drive today was that he kept it on the track.

Ferrari's 10th WDC coming?

I think the title hinges on how fast McLaren are at the final 2 races, the Red Bull will be hard to beat at the final 2 so its if Alonso can stay ahead of Hamilton/Button. Still another twist in this one yet I think, be great if we went to the final GP with 4 drivers still in it.

I thought the constructor's championship would be a wrap by now but Red Bull really have taken a beating today.

You don't need to beat a Redbull. They beat themselves.

That's true enough but 2 Red Bull 1-2's and its pressure on Alonso to finish 3rd, it only takes a DNF at this point. I can't wait for Brazil :D

Jenson says the race should have been ended earlier, it was far too dark to be driving an F1 car, and that something must have been wrong with his car because he had no grip and it was undriveable.

That doesn't explain how his teammate could finish second and how the Ferraris could be 1-3. I like Jenson but what a tool. Webber at least had the decency to put his hand up and say 'my mistake and no one else's fault.'

I think Alonso's more consistent so I'd be surprised to see him with a DNF. The Ferrari might not have the pace of the Red Bull but it's certainly reliable now.
And Alonso has won 4 of the last 7 races. Hope he can keep it up. Imo the Red Bulls are more likely to end up with a DNF. I can see Webber and Vettel fighting each other again

Wasn't a very good drive and was moaning to get going ?
He was right to be moaning, the first few laps clearly showed it wasn't that dangerous to be racing. A few drivers also got on intermediates within a few laps of the start, meaning that his wasn't an outrageous suggestion just to get the race started

He struggled for pace for about 10 laps because he had little down force as the Mclaren's were setup to maximize their pace down the straights. He did brilliantly considering the setup of the car. Button finished out of the points in a comparable car.

He could have easily said that the light was fading to get the race stopped and taken 2nd place. He didnt have a chance of getting past Alonso in the laps remaining but risked losing places if his tire wear worsened - thats what I meant by him being a true racer. He felt the conditions were fit enough to race and called it like that irrespective of whether he gained or lost. He was confident of his abilities to get the job done in the race - go wheel to wheel, win or lose.

Christian Horner saying that the final 2 races for Vettel has engines with miles left in them. Todays engine was the last race for it, i'd imagine those final 2 races will have engines who are on their last race. I wouldn't be surprised to see another engine problem for him before the end of the season.

The engine issue is touch and go for Ferrari as well which is why Lewis is in the box seat. I still believe its between Redbull and Mclaren for both drivers and team champhionships

Alonso's car had some problem just before the race started and some engine issue just before the Singapore GP too. Its a matter of time before his luck runs out.

There are a couple of more twists left in this years Championship.

Hamilton needs another repeat of this race to be in with a shout of winning the title...21 points behind Alonso, so a DNF from him, and obviously Webber not profiting from it.

I'd say not very likely, but who seriously thought, both Red Bulls would not finish today, and Ferrari would finish 1 and 3. Hamilton coming 2nd is not THAT big a surprise in this race, but the Red Bulls finishing empty handed?

Hamilton is in a considerably stronger position than Raikonnen was in at this stage of the season when he won his world title. I don't think there's any doubt that he needs Alonso to feck a race up. When you're within a race win of taking the championship lead, you're by no means out of it

I'm gunna tempt fate here, and celebrate wrapping this baby up...

Team Larsson, no prizes for guessing who two of his drivers are!

If the next race finished - Vettel, Hamilton, Button, Webber with Alonso DNF...that would set it up quite nicely for the last week.

Any bets on which car would be suited best for the characteristics of the Brazilian track - Mclaren, RBR or Ferrari ?

Massa will win at Brazil ;)

Brazil should really favor the Mclaren's - two thirds of the track is high speed.
About half of the Abu Dhabi track is a couple of straights as well.

I'd say the Ferrari's should be the ones to watch, McLaren just dont have the speed compared to the other top runners at the moment.

Mclaren are the fastest car on the track in terms of top speed by quite a bit. They were half a second ahead of RBR and Ferrari in the first section of the track today but lost it in the slower sections. In dry conditions, they will still have the same advantage in the straights but due to better grip, will not lose as much time in the slower sections.

Long straights are ideal for Mclaren and they should be favorites in the next couple of races. In fact in his interview a couple of days ago, Alonso said that Lewis was the favorite to win in Korea ahead of the RBRs if it remained dry. You could also notice that on the race today - initially when the track was wet, Lewis lost time to Vettel and Alonso though he was quick in the straights. As it started to dry, he caught up with Alonso rapidly until the tires started to wear off and settled for second place.

My god you dribble some shit. You wouldn't have the faintest fecking idea.

Jenson said after the race that he was asked to try out a new part on his car which could be the reason why he was struggling compared to Lewis.

Team orders with him being the guinea pig on new components and getting data on it to make it work for Lewis the next race ?

If the new part works, people would be saying its Jenson getting the best gear and unfair on Hamilton, can't win sometimes

If the new part had an advantage, it would be on both cars, especially on the lead car. Having the part on the second car means they were getting data for a subsequent race. I dont believe there is anything wrong with team orders anyway. Both drivers cant win one WDC anyway - its best to back one horse.

Could explain why Jenson had a face like thunder in the forum after

Put fecking inters on then Lewis you cocky little prick

I hope Hamilton goes for a spin into a tyre wall, let's see the McLaren mechanics cheering then the wankers
