The F1 Thread 2010 Season

What is it about 22 year olds that turn them into over confident twits. Michael, Alonso, Hamilton and now Vettel. All made stupid errors at this age group. He's young and learning but he needs to focus more. Stupid incidents have cost him dearly this year.

Alonso, Vettel and Button are going to bottle it. Relying on Webber to beat Hamilton to the title is not reassuring :nervous:

Jonathan Legard really pisses me off, made some comment like "it's all gone wrong, it's over!" when Hamilton went into the gravel, and promptly drove straight back out again.

Legard really is shit. He was saying, "can Alonso carry on?" despite his suspension clearly being torn away from the bodywork. Martin Brundle is just a different class to him.

To be fair you couldn't see the suspension issue until you got the in car view, from the side on view I had the same opinion of Legard.

I think Legard is one of the better commentators out there, yes he goes into detail but i'm putting that down to him being a radio commentator before he was a TV one (completely different discipline and skills needed).

Button on the forum afterwards

"So have you spoken to sebastian yet then?"

"No i think the boys are just getting the boxing gloves ready..."

I can't believe Whitmarsh has had the audacity to say that Vettels crash into Button was more prevalent to 'junior formulae'! The cheeky gimp should remember his golden boy driving into a parked car before he gets all high and mighty, the classless prat.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

He has to be the biggest fecking idiot in commentary. He has no idea about the sport other then what he reads in the headlines and then automatically assumes that because drivers are revered then they must be all-round fantastic drivers. Comments like "If there is one driver that can tip toe around this track then it has to be Fernando Alonso" is up there as one of the most spastic claims i've ever heard. Anybody who has followed F1 for more then a few years would know that Alonso struggles in the wet and apart from a few races where his cars have had a clear advantage, he's been average at best. The only thing that brought him into either Hungary in 06 and China 06 were the clear superiority of the Michelin shod inters.

Discipline or not, having a remote clue about what you're commentating on is where you should start. James Allen while biased, has a clue.
Peter Windsor while being a total feckwit, has a clue.

Look I know you really hate Whitmarsh give him a break his driver got taken out hes gonna be pissed Lewis made a silly mistake but that was once this isnt the first time Seb has taken someone out overtaking.

Vettel does this all the time though. The guy's a menace.

Yep, Lewis has only ever made one mistake, that's right.

Whitmarsh is a weasel, I never used to really have a problem with him when his was RD's bitch but since he's taken over he infuriates me every time he's on tv, with his creepy little smile like he's secretly having a tug through a hole in his pocket. He's always making snide little comments about other cars or drivers, and it's highly unprofessional to say another team's driver belongs in a junior formula, not to mention being complete bollocks.

All the time, twice?

Twice?

He's done it to Button, Webber, Kubica and Sutil off the top of my head already. I'm sure there are more. One of the commentators made a valid point - out front he's a born winner, and can control a race. When he actually has to overtake he seems to have no fecking clue how to do it.

I was talking about this season, and all the drivers have had crashes with other drivers. Hamilton included, it doesn't make them shit drivers. And hamiltons pit lane incident is miles worse than any of Vettels crashes. The incident with Button at the weekend was unfortunate and impetuous on his part but it was more down to the changing weather than anything. Something Lewis also fell foul to later in the race but was fortunate to not have another car around him at the time.

Alonso binned it in majestic style, doesn't mean he should he racing in junior formulae. It was a retarded comment from Whitmarsh.

One mistake I didn't even say that I know he's made more then one. I was talking that one mistake like you did and that happened once not like its happened a few times.

And twice he's made more driving misakes not just the overtaking its under pressure when someone is ahead of him or need to do something to win a race he makes mistakes hes had 7 poles only won 1 race from them.

Who said it makes them shit drivers Seb he is a very good driver. I don't why you want to bring Lewis in like this. You say its much worse is it really though it was a stupid thing but that happened in his 2nd year he learned from that this is Sebs 4th and well this isnt the first time as been said he has crashed in to someone.

Whitmarsh said he belongs in a junior formula, that's a less than subtle way of calling a driver shit. And I brought Hamilton up because it's his boss mouthing off, I'd have thought that was obvious.

Oh and yes, the pitlane crash is definitely worse.

Moving on. Rumour has it that McLaren/Mercedes have somehow managed to overrun the engine for a race distance thus adding major stability to the EBD. The McLaren definatly sounded different in the race and Brundle even pointed it out.

Oh and it looks like the have the first stage of flexi wings too.

Flexing wings

EBD is just rumours from Autosport forums but there is definatly something very different going on with that McLaren, I just listened to it again on the iPlayer and it almost sounds like a broken exhaust its so distinctive. Scarbs said this

"I'm being told it is exactly because of the ignition trick, merc must have done some clever work to make it work in the race"

I think its game on.

Ah ok, I'd read Horner saying that it was the McLaren wings that were flexing the most.

The view in that James Allen blog is interesting, I wonder if they will try and put a stop to that, as you can definitely see the wing moving on the video

I noticed it far worse than that onboard with Webber at the start of the Hungarian GP, it was almost see-sawing in the wake of the cars in front.

I think the flexing is a side issue though, the major update is McLaren getting that EBD working properly and possibly even better over a race distance, I guess we will see once we get to a twisty track again.

Looking forward to Monza, I go on holiday on Sunday morning but arrive in time to find a bar and watch the race :D

Great another new track, that will look great, but will be boring as hell, like so many of the recent tracks.

Labor is cheap, so you are going to save millions on construction, please use that extra money to get the very best track designers, so that it not only looks good, but also is conducive to good racing.
