F1 - Hamilton tyre failure under investigation

The shattered remains of Lewis Hamilton's front left corner are being rushed back to the McLaren Technology Centre for analysis, while Williams and Red Bull are also looking in to problems that could all stem from the same source.

Almost within sight of the chequered flag in Barcelona Hamilton’s McLaren speared into a barrier following a tyre failure, costing him second place both in the race and in the championship standings.

Team boss Martin Whitmarsh immediately speculated that ‘debris’ was the most likely cause of the problem, while Bridgestone said its initial impression was that ‘this was not caused by a tyre issue’.

"We are working closely with McLaren to understand what happened," said Hirohide Hamashima.

As the sun rises again in Europe on Monday morning, the leading theory now is that a stone became stuck in the wheel rim.

After qualifying, Rubens Barrichello took photos with his mobile phone camera of his FW32 and his helmet, so amazed was he about the damage caused by flying stones. He told Auto Motor und Sport that he had to nurse his vibrating Williams to the chequered flag after feeling a ‘strong shock’ on the left front.

"We had to slow him down to ensure we didn't have a problem with the tyres," confirmed technical director Sam Michael. "We'll be looking into that for the next race."

Barrichello suspects a stone got stuck in the wheel rim, and a similar cause was also not being ruled out to explain Sebastian Vettel's brake problem.

After the Red Bull was inspected, Christian Horner revealed that the brake disc ‘was a bit damaged’. "We will only know for sure in the factory," added the Briton.

At least when there are more contentious debates in future, a couple of posters have shown themselves to lack credibility and we can judge their contributions accordingly

Bitter bias bollocks, and they look a right couple of feckwits now

You can fecking talk dickhead. You lost all credibility when you fecked off like little school girl because somebody dared move your thread. Atleast I have the balls unlike yourself to admit that I was wrong, not sheepishly come back and pretend like its all a big joke.

Tee hee

You fecked this one up royal, didn't you marchi :D

I haven't actually looked at this thread, so I was wrong.

And finally the guest of honour arrives, you've gone way past the realm of being fashoinably late and dived straight into the embarrassed spastic party.

Yes you were wrong, in fact you couldn't have been more wrong you raving lunatic.

Perhaps you'll keep your agendas out of this thread in future and stick to facts instead.

How did I feck this one up? I took a guess looking at the footage from the live feed. He's had a history of blowing front tyres due to his driving style so doing it again on a corner on a track where every commentator and analysis has said, massive pressure is placed on the front right, is going to lead me to think he's over driven the tyre.

You took a guess

That guess happened to be fuelled by the bitter bias bollocks you regularly spout in this particular thread with regard to Hamilton

That's how you fecked this one up. The rest of us waited to hear what actually happened to cause the retirement. You jumped to a conclusion because you can't stand the racer involved, and ended up with egg on your face

Ladies and gentleman, the laughing stock of the F1 thread... I give you Marchi

(This is where you take a bow mate)

It was fulled by prior information given by Bridgestone and the commentator you stupid twat. I don't follow Hamilton but i've been mighty impressed with his driving this year so I don't get the bullshit you're sprouting. Just because I don't pull my cock out and spray my man juice over every race he does like the rest of you, doesn't mean I don't respect him. In the same guise I don't like Robert Kubica but he's been arguably the driver of the season.

Yet again you're dribbling on about pre conceived perception without even fecking asking.

 Priceless

This thread is more interesting than the actual F1 season:D

I'd imagine the tunnel is lit pretty well during a race weekend but I can imagine it's much darker in reality. The worst part is coming out of it as your eyes take a second or so to adjust to the bright light.

Not really as you've already told me you facebook stalked me!

Alonso must be gutted watching Massa set the pace, the Ferrari is clearly working well here which should at least make it interesting tomorrow to see him working through from the back.

Hardly stalked...

Anywho good to see lotus catching up on the rest of the field, could be challenging force India etc... next season if they begin to concentrate on next years car.

Hard luck for Kubica, shame really because its probably a Red Bull win again with the Vettel as a rear gunner. They did alot of laps on the softs there though, first stops wont be far in the race.

Surprised Massa didn't get a penalty for slowing down Jenson, I know it wasn't his final fastest lap, but that shouldn't really excuse him.

The stewards are far too lenient at the moment

I prefer the current style of stewarding to the last 4 or 5 years worth, some of the penalties handed out have been appalling. Maybe Massa should have been penalised but it's not exactly outrageous that he wasn't.

Compare that to Alonso's penalty in Monza quali in 06 (I think it was 06?) where he was about 100 metres in front of Schu and got penalised for holding him up, mental.

Im looking forward to this today, My tonsils are the size of apples, and I have had enough of Wife Swap on TV.

Some say its a boring race, but I spend the whole time in disbelief they are not running into, or clipping the walls.

Forgot to change my team, balls.
