The Europa League 2017/18(Use the SF thread to discuss the current match)

In the final or on 2 legs Atletico has better chances against Arsenal due to their superior defense, and Atletico can exploit spaces Arsenal defense leaves all the time.

Seriously?

EDIT:

Actually, stupid question, I suppose. Of course you want to win, but surely you wouldn't want him there next season.

Kind of similar to Van Gaal winning the F.A. Cup. Fans still wanted him out, because despite winning it, the rest of the season was pretty poor, as has been the case with Arsenal.

If Arsenal weren't a joke of a club they'd had a replacement already in place regardless if Wenger wins the EL. Like we did with LVG.
Being the joke of a club that they are it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they offer Wenger a new contract based on the EL.

Great goal from Sporting, Coentrão acrobatically providing the assist.

Stupid thing, the Portuguese referee denied a penalty for Bilbao in Marseille's box, but the line referee said it was… but it definitely wasn't a handball. Now Aduriz scores.

Ridiculous penalty, absolutely stupid decision. And it took as long as VAR takes to actually get a decision and a goal. If anything, Rami makes his body/target smaller the way he blocks the ball whilst closing his eyes. Shame on you ref

Very good goal but Plzen are pretty bad, if Bas Dost was playing the tie would be over today.

Hopefully we manage to keep a clean sheet and score a couple more as I don't trust us in european away matches, we'll probably end up fecking it all up now anyway.

But you noticed the referee got it right first, then he was “overruled” by the line assistant?

Anyone have lazios second goal?

 Immobile having a go at F.Anderson for shooting instead of passing only for F.Anderson to reply with "how?" waving his hand

This Inaki Williams was supposed to be the next thing a few years ago, he is really awful isn’t he? As for Payet, he still has the touch and flair, too bad he ruined his career by never really realizing his talent sooner. A bit slower now perhaps - goal and assist tonight

Remember when Iker was hyped up as "Spanish Messi"?

He was starting to look good again and has been out most of the season with a cruciate injury. Inaki is a disappointment. Maybe needs a manager who will kick him up the backside now and again. Might be Bilbao will need a new manager. However Bilbao might just give him the time.

It's like we're actively trying to concede a goal but Plzen are too bad to actually score

The last kick of the game was Immobile hitting the post. So close to a win.

A Dynamo player has been given a red after the game ended for going on a rampage.

They don't have to, per say. They're 2nd in La Liga. But yes they are the strongest side in the competition.

But it's their only chance for a title too. They lost the important game against Barca, they're out of the Copa del Rey. EL is the last, they don't need it to qualify for the CL, but for winning a title.
Clear favourites at the moment, but think we will go out against an other team.

I'm assuming you two watched the game so, if you don't mind answering a question, how did Maxime Lopez play?

Dortmund losing at home to Salzburg with a full-strength team. Just goes to show how much of a non-miracle it was for Spurs to advance through their CL-group this season. Dortmund are in free fall-mode and have been for years.

Right, you were confusing me there

English team still have 4 wins to Italy's 3, right?

Nope, Italy 4 (Atalanta - Everton x2, Roma-Chelsea and Juve- Spurs) EPL 3 at the moment (City - Napoli x2, Arsenal- AC Milan) + 2 draws

Anyway I only wanted to defend Serie A by those who exaggerate calling it farmer/pub league.
It's clear that Serie A is weaker than Premier League, I have no doubt but Juventus eliminated Spurs, Roma topped the group with Chelsea and Atalanta topped the group with Everton, it means that our teams are not that bad.

Yeah I'm an idiot

Nice 2-0 win to watch at the stadium. Europa league nights  and we didn't need to sub Ronaldo in :D

The only Ronaldo in the bench is bloody awfull, the Tavares of course

Werner during the Zenit game

Backheel assist + €10M
Backpass to goalie 1v1 - €5M
Chipped goal + €5M

The only thing I dislike about this competition is that every game is on at the same time on the same day. I get why but there's so many good ties this year. I'll definitely catch Lazio then probably Arsenal/Milan.

Arsenal vs Atlético final if they don't meet beforehand ?
Hard to say this year! Lyon, Lazio and Marseille are all good, too. I wouldn't write off Dortmund either despite their troubles.

I could definitely see even the Red Bull sides knocking out Arsenal. Their really aggressive press could shock Arsenal. And I could also see Lyon, Lazio or Marsielle knocking them out.

At the moment they play at either 7 or 9pm. Does that change from now on ?
