The curious case of Alexis - what do we do?

he was offering nothing before his injury. his availability or not makes no difference.

He scored the first goal versus Arsenal in the cup. If he had played v Wolves he could have done the same. This thought that players getting injured is a blessing is an odd one to me. At a time when we have a lot of injuries he could have been important and he can still score important goals in the run in.

it was a definitely a blessing. The game he got injured we were trailing and the team immediately turned it around when he left. probably wouldn't have comeback against PSG too. The game also fell apart when he came on with mata in the first leg. at no point have we been able to rely on him for goals in 1 whole year so what would make you think he could do something now? Sanchez is totally finished my friend- I gave up on this long time ago.

He would still have been an option when we suffered injuries. Sanchez is going nowhere and I look forward to him turning things around.

I would sell him. Buying older players has never worked out for Man United after the first season. It's just not what we do.

No European club will take him, even on a free transfer, considering his enormous wages. He would be a high profile signing for a Chinese club, can they offer at least 250k per week and would he accept?

We've got to get rid. Just tell him there is no place for him in the team and he needs to find somewhere.

Also, we're sending him to the reserves. A bit harsh, but it might wake him up. I just can't see someone like him who always wants to play, being happy on the sidelines.

If he leaves on a free and lowers his wages significantly, I reckon Juventus might pick him up. It's either that, or he goes to China or retires.

Whatever, we need to get rid.

when will he be turning it around? he's not first choice when everyone is fit, more players will be coming in the summer so he'll be pushed further down. it's wishful thinking

I think Fellaini earns more than 250K per week, so I don't see why Sanchez couldn't get that amount.

On his salary, I thought it was £350k a week. Then factor in image rights (i presume both he and the club profit from that?). Then he gets 75K if he starts? As he hasn't been starting forever, I guess we're making some savings there:lol:

Say what you want about Sanchez but he doesn't shy away from the fight like di Maria for instance. Plenty of players would have been not too bothered about coming back so quick yet he's doing his best.

I'm sad it hasn't worked out for him here and he'll certainly get no hate from me unlike that fecker who couldn't wait to get out of here.

Need to be ruthless and get rid in the summer. I have no ill will towards him as he works his ass off but just doesn't have it anymore.

Sell him to China. If we get a RW this summer, Sanchez will be on too much money to be a sub and he'll be taking time away from Greenwood.

Not sure there is much that can be done, it reeks more and more of a Wiston Bogarde scenario, presuming that he does not take a huge pay cut to leave.

Real let Kaka go back to Milan for free, but he had only a year left on his contract before being released. It's very difficult to see United getting out of this one, the gap between his current ability and his wages is staggering.

I am really surprised that people think they can dumb their unwanted player on extremely high wages to China. Pato just left there because unpaid wages.

In my view he would excel as a false 9 and a auxiliary striker with split strikers either side of him and a diamond midfield with better attacking fullbacks and better defense.

We have to use him near the box and not to take on people and carry the ball 70 yards. Pep would have made a way better use of him than mourinho. Ole was just about to get things right tactically I feel when he got injured.

Fans were calling for lukaku's head a month earlier now with 6 goals they might have a different view. I think Sanchez will fit form soon but only when used correctly.

Being honest I don't see how we can get rid of him, no club will take him under his current wages. He doesn't have the commercial impact to convince the chinesse or american clubs to match his current contract and since he is in the last stage of his career I don't think he will sacrifice his salary to move to another team.

The reality is that we are stuck with him, the best we can do is try to make it work. He is clearly not good enough to be starting matches, but maybe comming from the bench or just let him leave on a free so the new club can compensate for his wages, or pay half of them. I don't know how we can come up on top on this one, he is the worst signing in football history.

so he is on £350,000-a-week.

Btw, what has Anthony Martial done so far to deserve £250,000-a-week? Even Mohamed Salah (renewed last summer) and Hazard are on £200,000 only. No wonder DDG is asking for £350K

Good point. The entire wage structure is completely effed up by Woodward.
Rashford is underpaid.... justifiable wage is 175k
Sanchez is grossly overpaid.. justifiable wage is 150k
Lingard (100k just doesn't make sense) justifiable wage is 80k
Lukaku (250k... not consistent enough)... like Sanchez grossly overpaid and overvalued (175k wage is justifiable)
Pogba (250k seems justified)
Luke Shaw is worth 80k in wages at max
Martial (250k doesn't seem justified..... yet) Hoping that he'll kick off next season with Ole in-charge.... but (175k wage seems justifiable)
Herrera (150k wage is justifiable)
De Gea (300k seems justifiable.... that's a lot of money but he's been great for us all these years.... and will probably give us around 6 to 7 more years at the highest level.
Anyone over 30 should be paid around or under 80k unless they've been playing phenomenally for us.

I think he will do very well for the pre season tour and won't be available for season start due to injury.

I think the club has to cut him loose as I doubt they'll find any club to take him and why would Alexis accept a transfer? Maybe some kind of loan deal, but really it's his wages that are the problem. A loan doesn't really solve that. Buy him out and write it off as a lesson learned. He'll never be the player for us that he was for Arsenal.

He's ruined the wage structure, which may end up costing us De Gea and will make negotiations for new transfers almost impossible.

After that, fire the finance chap who is in charge of negotiating contracts and get a real football mind to take his place. It's too much to hope that Ed gets relieved of football related matters, but maybe they can at least get rid of his clueless assistant.

Divert all our resources into building a time machine to go back in time and let Manchester City have him.

We have good enough players here for him to play with. Most better than the team he left. He's not a winger anymore yes and that experiment should've ended a long time ago.

I've said in another post. He needs to sold or got rid at any cost. If a Chinese club can pay £250k and we pay £100k so be it.

At this point he is massive liability on the field, off-the-field. He's affecting contract negotiations with our top players. He's taking up a large of the wage bill which would be used for other players.

Woodward (or Jose) fecked up big time here.

The entire wage structure is broken really. When your highest paid player is one of the worst performers it upsets the rest of the squad. Why should De Gea, who has been our best player every season for the last 6 years and is arguably the world's best goalkeeper be paid less than Sanchez? His renewal is already being complicated by the fact he wants equal pay to Sanchez and isn't getting it.

You would think a chairman whose commercial and financial success has been so celebrated would have a greater control on salaries!

Apart from De Gea and Pogba I don't think we have any players who justify more than £150k a week. Even talents like Rashford and Martial are being paid the kind of salaries you'd expect of a player in his prime doing the business week in, week out.

I know published wages are not always accurate, but if you compare ours to Man City it's embarrassing! Lets compare Martial and Rashford to two City players of similar age/talent.

Gabriel Jesus 20 £90,000
Leroy Sané 22 £90,000

Marcus Rashford 21 £150,000
Anthony Martial 23 £250,000

Martial earns more money per week than Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Fernandinho, Kompany, Sterling and the same amount as Sergio Aguero. Sanchez is the standout one that people always mention, but in reality we overpay from top to bottom. You don't need to pay a player £250k a week if you know how to sell your club and the project, which clearly Man City are very good at and Woodward is terrible at.

It all comes down to success. City are at a period of success where if a star wanted to leave it would be less damaging to sell them then to give into them. They'd easily pick up a replacement. But no star wants to leave because they trophies they offer.

Alexis is like the Conor McGregor of United. he does what the fook he wants and now has equity at United. Maybe he should go to the USA or China and create his own football club

He’ll be our player of the year next year.

If he moves on, he’ll outscore our top scorer.

It’s been as horrible a start to a new club as any I’ve seen. But he’s still a top class footballer.

It's all down to him and his values now unfortunately. What matters to him more? His legacy and his immediate personal happiness or being able to retire with an extra few million in the bank.

I'm quite certain retiring with £36 million in the bank and retiring with £29 million in the bank are practically the same thing and that extra money will do nothing to improve the quality of his life. Unless he is greedy and finds enjoyment in the act of having that extra few million, who knows? People are strange. I know what I would do in his position.
