The Criteria Draft - The Drafts

The more discrimination the better from now on - discriminate against everyone, at all times, it's the only way to maintain order.

@Chesterlestreet to reply to your post about Hazard. He was indeed the player with most successful dribbles per game this season in both the Champions League and the Premier League.

Who had the most successful dribbles overall through-out the season you ask? Ribery mate.

 Thanks. But I never asked - hot in Sweden too, mate?

This new rule change has fecked me over to be honest because i wanted Kanchelskis but he wasn't eligible at the time so in turn i picked Rob Jones instead who turns out not to be eligible anyway. Sorry to be a moaner but this is what happend. I think the rule should of stayed the way it was.

Rob Jones surely counts? Great Britain doesn't have a national team. Born in Wales, played for England. That counts. Same for Kanchelkis. Played for Russia. Born in Kirovograd which is in Ukraine and has never been in Russia.

I still have the role to fill and this helps me hugely of course as now I have loads of possible picks which nobody else had the chance to pick. I still thought it was best to not change it.

Not yet anyway. :nervous:

Feck. 2 players I thought fit criteria do not. Give me sometime

Thought we had a deal that I could dish out info about my players and pretend you asked and you'd do the same later.

You useless you silly goose.

Damn, you're right - we did. I'm losing it completely now - all these debates have drained my feeble mental resources. Can't even remember who my next pick is.

Well, it has been stated now that FIFA status is irrelevant - and it was never claimed otherwise either. We just assumed it for no good reason - the rules never said anything about FIFA status.

It is what it is guys, let's just leave it?

What was decided in the end. Kanchelskis type of player are eligible or not? If they were born at a site which is X nation and then later played for Y nation?

Player born in Soviet Union, but then playing for Ukraine is eligible?

If a player was born in a country which later dissolved into multiple present-day countries, what counts is his birthplace. If that is in a different country - now - than the one he played his football for, he is eligible. A player born in present-day Ukraine who played his football for Ukraine is not eligible. Had he played for Georgia he would have been eligible.

Gonzalo Higuain..

Born in France. Plays for Argentina. No controversy :)

Also, lost in a final.

@Aldo

We assumed it because it's common sense. That's a pretty good reason.

Quality pick since you saw the France-Argentine business, had no clue.
The problem is, he's not even top class nowadays and never was, I used to see him weekly on RM and he's a pretty average striker with no reason to play for a start for a NT like Argentina. To be fair he probably was a huge part of their weakness in that incredible attack.
Plus, he always shits himself in big games, I've said it before and I'll say it again - and you could see it in his really not surprising terrible miss in the WC final.
He's easily the worst striker we'll see here by a distance

Mario Basler.

Going for a tactical pick here. Neville made a great partnership with Beckham and Basler is pretty much in that mould. A wonderful free kick taker, great crosser and passer and neat technique. Capped 30 times. Had a great scoring record from out wide as well which is always welcome.
