The more I think about it the more it seems to me that after 1985 means January 1st, 1986
 
Unless Trip for some very strange reason thought 01/01/1986 (and not 1985, a nice round year) would be an ideal cutoff point, I'd say it's obvious it means before 01/01/1985.
 
I am going to bed now and might not be on til about 2 o'clock tomorrow is there anyone i can pm my pick to in case it reaches my go ?
 
Anyway, let Trip make a call on it. I won't hang around to argue the finer points of chronology or whatever the feck it should be called.
 
Of course 1985 counts. It says 'not after'. If you talk about what you're going to do the year after this one you're not talking about the year 2016. 01/01/85-31/12/85 is all 1985.

Yeah. 01/01/1985 is a clean 20 years after the date for all eligible players.

Given that we consider peaks, I can easily argue that varane has shown a higher peak performance than de boer so far in his young career. Ofcourse, you offset that by his youth and his lack of experience, but if I had a choice to choose both of them in top form in a real match, I will chose varane every single time.

And you were playing a two man defensive combo when I made that statement so I stand by it.

Well I played him in a two man defense combo which has been well proven with Stam. Varane's peak is about 5-6 performances(which he was superb in), but that's not a peak to be fair.
I don't think Varane's few brilliant games can be considered over a career full of great performances by de boer, but that might be the problem with the definition of "peak"... I still think most people would agree with me but I can see why and how you would think that, I simply disagree ;)

I sense this is actually a rule discussion? I'm all for the argument that when people "turn 35"they effectively turn over the page and are over 35 thereafter while before they were living their 35th year.

That said, being born after 1985 is not about the amount of time lapsed since the birth of JC, it is being born on any date sporting a year higher than 1985 at the end of it.

The phrase is badly worded. I agree it looks like I'm saying born in 1986 and onwards (i.e not inclusive of 1985).

However as long as it doesn't screw anyone over in terms of picks they've already made it can be clarified to 1985 inclusive.

Guys, rpit. just pointed out to me that romania is in top 30 of the world(who knew?).

Does anyone have any problem with me changing my pick from popescu? I would like to change and not be saddled with a sheep but will respect the majority opinion.
