The Criteria Draft - The Drafts

Bollocks. His defensive game was excellent for the role he played.

Was it? I havent watched any of him(too young) but from what I read pirlo is an upgrade over him and he(albertini) always had a ball winner next to him while at milan. Obviously, you have more knowledge about him so I stand corrected.

Although I do disagree with you that xavi isnt a good long range passer,he just chooses not to due to the style of barca/spain.

I couldn't get either of them to meet a criteria. I thought as much about Albertini's defensive game, i just wanted to see peoples opinions on it.
Edit- but now Chesty is making me not sure what to do.

Same here, I want pirlo so bad but just cant fit him in the side.

Albertini was much more of a - let's say - defensive midfielder than Pirlo is. The latter is a deep sitting playmaker (I hate these terms, actually - but that one is apt enough for Pirlo). Albertini was a central midfielder who covered very well AND had one hell of a foot on him - for pinging passes from the depth. He wasn't a destroyer, obviously - but a ball playing, positionally excellent midfielder who might be classed as a "defensive midfielder" just as easily as a "central midfielder". In my opinion. Sort of like Carrick - only much better.

Sorry for the harsh reply, mate - it's the heat. Again.

Here's what I'm thinking so far:

xxxx----Lucio--Nesta---xxxx
-----------xxxxx-----------
----lampard------Viera------

Then in attack it would be one of:

a)
---------MLT----------
----XXXX----Villa------

b)
---MLT----------Villa
--------xxxx---------

c)
-----ML----XXXX-----
-------Villa-----------

Thoughts?

That fecker just had to play one extra match for england, was thinking of signing him

If he has a better first touch as well, then he must have been a heck of a player.

 Where are you from?

Thoughts?

Alright, I'll be good.

And fair - actually.

That doesn't look bad. Good combo there - Seedorf and Deco. Both surprisingly sound defensively (at least for Deco, who many still think of as a more flashy sort of player, but he was a relentless little bastard). And they can cover a lot of ground, switching positions too (in terms of the default positions).

Pep? Feck knows. Sooner or later he must excel in these things, I guess. Given the qualities of the other two, I'd say he works - yes. But those who crave a pure rock in that position won't like it.

It's not a perfect balance, though.*

* I had to throw that in to feck with you - but it's true. But who's going to end up with a perfectly balanced team here? There will be flaws here and there - that's inevitable.

Before I go, I'm listening to Schweinsteiger offers. Either a top player or Him + 12th rounder for a 6th+7th or the right 7th+8th sort of thing.

I'm from all over the place - in terms of heritage.

Not from Durham, though - as suggested. The handle plays on the birthplace of a United legend - not my own.

Guardiola isn't a man marking rock. But he's a solid defensive playmaker, very similar in nature to Alonso. You don't need to be a pacey strong bastard to play there.

Not to mention I have a great box to box in Seedorf who is strong and energetic and you're right Deco gets in peoples faces more. But he's also a creative genius. He'd link brilliantly with Nedved IMO.
Seems a bit lightweight in midfield, granted its full of fantastic players.

Don't necessarily buy this. Seedorf was a very good BTB, it's often forgotten. Yes it's not the worlds strongest but neither was Barcelonas at thier peak.

 I thought Durham was the name of a player :D

You should visit pakistan, temp in the high 40s all summer :(

Excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing him in one of these things.

He's laughably underrated by many - not least many United fans.

I had him in the first auction draft, doesnt really get much credit imo.

Edmundo

Never played in a European competition and a losing World cup finalist

@Annahnomoss

Nicknamed as Animal, Edmundo played for Brazil at the 1998 World Cup. For Palmeiras, he won the Campeonato Brasileiro in the beginning of the Nineties. For Vasco da Gama he won 1997's Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, scoring 29 goals. In that same year, Vasco da Gama scored 69 goals. Edmundo also scored 6 goals in the same game in 1997, against a club from São Paulo, União São João.

In 1999 he faced prosecution by animal welfare groups after hiring an entire circus to perform in his back garden to celebrate his son's first birthday

Made me laugh , good pick for a touch criteria.

Edit-Or not.
